#7 in CFB Rankings

I guess root for blowouts of OU, OSU, and UGA. But, like, whatever. Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 6.23.17 PM.png

Fitzgerald isn't going to make the same mistake Harbaugh did against Osu. If their Qb is dialed in - the Cats have a chance.

Given the UM losses to ND and OSU and all of the other games played this year, who thinks ND beats OSU on a neutral field?

I cannot see ND scoring enough on OSU, and the OSU speed would be as problematic for ND as for UM.

Also, whatever bowl we're in I hope we wear our home unis. I've had enough with the ugly white away unis. I mean seriously, its terrible

Why?  So we can get crushed in the playoffs?  I'd rather end the season with a win in the Rose or the Fiesta.

Need Oklahoma crushed. Osu crushed. Georgia crushed. And ucf just to lose.

not playoff hopes but to play LSU or Washington. And for a top 5 finish.

an 11 win top 5 finish would be best since ...

I’ll be honest, I want OSU in the playoffs vs Bama.

That gives the Rose Bowl on Jan 1 as opposed to being the prelude to the playoff game at 1 on Dec 29th in the Peach.

If we can get back to the granddaddy vs Washington, I can actually sit and enjoy the game and not think too much about the OSU game. A win and I would say this season was a moderate success

I.Don’t.Understand.This.Fanbase. Why would we want our biggest rival to make the playoff and we don’t? Anyone on here who doesn’t want chaos to happen & we get the #4 is stupid. As Herm Edwards said,YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME! Can’t win it if you don’t make it. Maybe just maybe we make adjustments and shock the world?

OSU and Oklahoma aren't going to lose. But if they did, I could see the committee putting Georgia in before they put Michigan in. If Georgia also got blown out, I still think it would come down to OSU vs. Oklahoma. If all 3 got completely utterly blown out (0% chance of happening), Michigan might have a shot.

One more shot at this 8 game playoff idea by replacing conference title games with the following play-in round to qualify for the CFP final four:

  • #1 Alabama vs. #8 UCF @ Georgia Dome
  • #2 Clemson vs. #7 Michigan @ Superdome
  • #3 Notre Dame vs. #6 Ohio State @ Lucas Oil
  • #4 Georgia vs. #5 Oklahoma @ AT&T Stadium

Come on, wouldn't that be a kick-ass slate of games versus these crapy conference title games?  I love college football and would prefer true competition to qualify into the CFP final four.  Sign me up as this 4 team selection process is so f-ing preordained it sucks.

Some other people have mentioned that idea on this blog. Though why would the SEC and the other warm weather Power 5 Conferences agree to that kind of playoff system?

They wouldn't care for the idea of sending one of their teams somewhere to possibly play in the snow.

People apparently forget or don't know that the Power 5 Conferences get together and agree on a certain playoff system.

This is what would preserve the awesomeness of the regular season if the playoff were to be expanded to 8 teams.

Now the incentive would be to finish in the top 4 for home field advantage.

If an SEC team doesn’t want to head north in December to play a game, then finish in the top 4.

Just think how exciting some of these late season games would be if home field was on the line.

That looks phenomenal.  Let’s ditch these conference divisions while we’re at it.  Totally stupid and arbitrary.  NorthWestern gets to play for a conference championship?  Let’s make the regular season count again as it relates to conference championships.

This staff can't hang with the coaches in the Cfp right now. Sad to say - we would get embarrassed yet again.

Agree with the poster above on the away uni's.

I’m sorry but why would you even want to go this year. Bama and Clemson would both score more than the wife beaters did against us. We’re not there yet. Not athletic enough enough.

I hate to say this but they do that to keep a large fan-base intrigued and tuned in for ratings. Money on the table that even if Georgia and OSU lost (possibly even Oklahoma) in their respective championships they would still get in over us.

I think we have the athletes to compete. We don't have the strategy/style right now on either side.

With a month to prepare - could add stuff on both sides of ball. But we had all that time for bowl game last year ...& we had a year to prepare for Osu this year. We still run into a stacked box over & over ...& the D has no clue how to play zone.

I like JH btw. Hope he gets a good OC & tells Brown to add some more packages to the D.

The ranking of Michigan this high is not to indicate some level of hope for us to go to the CFP.

It is laying the groundwork for putting OSU in the playoffs over Oklahoma based on destroying the #7 team.

Agreed.  I was down Saturday and Sunday but fuck it, I wore my Michigan jacket with pride every single day since the beatdown.  We are a good team who had an inexplicably bad game on Saturday.  There are 100+ FBS teams who would rather have Michigan's success than their own.

Preach, and Bingo!

After our game with them I talked with a friend of a friend, Ohio guy, who told me they were dreading playing us after we blew out PSU, and that they wanted their DC fired.

He is still humble and grateful for the outcome.
