Can you please provide a source, or anything?
November 16th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
Also says Patterson is expected to declare... oof.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
I imagine a scene in which Shea and Dwayne are collaborating to fuck with draft forecasters and fan bases.
"Ok, so this week we're both staying?"
"No, we went over this: we were both staying last week, will be declaring this week, next week I'll be declaring and you'll be staying."
"Cool. And after that?"
"I'll be staying, and you'll be giving up football to live in a monastery."

Citizen Gomer is going to be busy today!
November 16th, 2018 at 3:28 PM ^
Isn't Bleacher Report on the do not cite site list? Citizen (opinion) journalism.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:09 PM ^
Yeah!
November 16th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Okay lets break this down...
"This could, of course, change, but currently, multiple sources expect Michigan to lose Patterson."
Translation:
"This could, of course, change..." = We don't know for sure
"...but currently, multiple sources..." = but as of today there are some secret people I know but I'm not saying who
"...expect Michigan to lose Patterson..." = that are thinking privately that Michigan won't have Shea next year.
In other words, some randos not affiliated with Shea whatsoever are guessing he's not coming back.
Don't worry everyone. This could of course change, but I personally have multiple sources that expect Michigan to have Shea available next year.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:17 PM ^
I saw an article title that said Harbaugh should be given another shot at the NFL... so you know, he's probably going to be gone too.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:27 PM ^
It's BR. Why anyone still believes them on stuff like college sports is beyond me.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
Link? Source? This aint Nam. There are rules here.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:16 PM ^
Sorry, my friends didn't die face down in the mud for me to forget such an essential aspect of a board thread.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
Um, I think you may have forgotten something...
November 16th, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
i can only assume Haskins just called you and told you this. otherwise you probably would've posted a link.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
Chill lol I posted the link 5 mins after I submitted, thought I could edit it on mobile but apparently not.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:31 PM ^
Threads on mobile have never been easy on this site. I often advise waiting until you can get to a laptop, but then if everyone did that, we'd have so many duplicate threads that......oh, what we already do. Never mind me....
November 16th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
I thought one of the big draws to the new site was an optimized mobile experience..
November 16th, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
Since OP didn’t post the link:
Also, this article says Shea Patterson expects to declare for the draft as well. Which would really stink if it was true.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
I think we can worry about it after the year but its a really weak year for QB's and anyone with a marginal grade should probably go
November 16th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
I just don’t think Shea is ready for the NFL to be honest. He’s insanely talented but he should consider another year to improve his resume and his performance ability.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
I hear you but throwing the ball 18 times a games isn’t going to do much for him. Shea will get a ton more reps in the NFL when he doesn’t have to play college student and can focus on football. He can make the tough throws and got plenty of coaching by Harbsugh to get ready for the NFL.
It would be great to see him back, but I don’t think it’s happening.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
If by weak year you mean a very deep year, then you are correct. It’s so deep that Patterson I swear not even top 10 in many rankings and top 5 to no one.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:45 PM ^
If by deep you mean there are a lot of mediocre guys then you are correct. There’s no reason that Haskins and Patterson both can’t get higher grades than guys like Drew Lock and Ryan Finley, and beyond that you’re looking at players like Jared Stidham.
Shea and Haskins are both in the top 5 neighborhood of QBs if they come out. The top ten lists that didn’t have them simply didn’t evaluate them or are out of date.
You really don’t think Shea is getting drafted behind Clayton Thorson, do you?
November 16th, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
NFL actually liked Thorson a lot more than you think they would. Thorson looks the part. He is considered to be a day 2 prospect even though I disagree with their assessment.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:17 PM ^
Yes and I think what you are missing is Patterson is one of the “mediocre guys” NFL network just made a list of position groups and Shea wasn’t even included. Shea is 5”11-6”0. He is going to need to have a heisman year next year to be a first round pick. I believe he could achieve that. But if he leaves this year he is going to have to be ok being a 2-4 round pick and not have an organization need him to succeed.
November 16th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
Who exactly do you have before Patterson?
Most mock drafts and analysts have Oregon's Justin Herbert at the top QB prospect, and then the top-5 is usually some order of:
- OSU's Dwayne Haskins
- Missouri's Drew Lock
- WVU's Will Grier
- NC State's Ryan Finley
With lack of consensus in the rest of the top-10 including:
- Duke's Daniel Jones
- Michigan's Shea Patteron
- Auburn's Jarrett Stidham
- Northwestern's Clay Thorson
- Washington's Jake Browning
I'd say Shea Patterson is very much in the argument of being a top-10 QB prospect, and could very easily work himself into top-5 with a good combine. None of the other prospects are heads and toes better than Shea.
November 16th, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
boflex that is my exact point. He is borderline top 10 and maybe could improve a little. Doesn’t make sense to leave unless getting to the NFL ASAP is the only priority.
November 17th, 2018 at 12:40 AM ^
No, my point is that Shea Patterson is solidly a top-10 QB prospect, and a borderline top-5. So there’s a really good chance Shea gets drafted in the first 2 rounds.
Next year draft class will have Eason, Fromm, Tagovailoa, Ehlinger at the top.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
Not necessarily. McCaffrey will be ready to lead. Do I want Shea to leave, no. But, we our stable of QBs is fine!
November 16th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
I would prefer Shea to come back, mostly for Qb depth. I wouldn't be surprised to see Peters leave after the season. If both him and Shea leave, we will have McCaffrey and Milton and McNamara. That is not good depth. One will be coming off a broken shoulder, the other hasn't thrown a D1 pass and the other is a true freshman. I have alot of faith in McCaffrey, but we're not in position to be ok if our top Qb or top couple Qbs go down with injury.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:51 PM ^
Ah yeah; we'd all prefer that and we all can only wait it out.
November 16th, 2018 at 2:13 PM ^
Obviously, I'm just critiquing the idea that our depth is fine even if Shea leaves. It probably won't be.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:42 PM ^
It probably will be. McCaffery will be healed by spring practice, Milton will have a full year under his belt, and Harbaugh may go after a grad transfer.
We all expected him to leave after this year anyway.
November 16th, 2018 at 5:05 PM ^
A player with a year in the system that hasn't thrown a college pass yet isn't "good depth" when they would be the backup. It's an unknown at best. I have alot of optimism regarding Milton as all the talk has been about how much he loves the game and how great his work ethic is, still, it doesn't mean he will be ready in year 2. Harbaugh may go after a grad transfer. He may not get a grad transfer. Or may not get a quality one. We could have good depth at Qb next year. We probably won't unless a couple things happen. And those are an unknown at this point.
We all expected Shea to leave and yet, that has nothing to do with any point made.
November 16th, 2018 at 3:43 PM ^
When I first read this I switched your post and your username to get: Shitty OP didn't post the link. Been on Mgoblog to long.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
Make up ur mind, board.
or not, who cares.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
Patterson also now expected to declare as well.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
Doesn't surprise me. Meyer will probably be looking long and hard at starting Martell to re-establish his preferred offensive system.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:08 PM ^
We must break him.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:23 PM ^
Isaac Haas is right.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
And has herpes...
November 16th, 2018 at 6:08 PM ^
Ewwwwwwwwwwww!
November 16th, 2018 at 3:05 PM ^
Tate Martell kind of looks like a much smaller, much douchier version of Ivan Drago
November 16th, 2018 at 4:28 PM ^
Just looking at him makes me want to key his loaner car.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
It's a feat to present that much douchiness in a football team pic. But he did it.
November 16th, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
I assume most people watched "QB1" on Netflix in the offseason.
If you did, you were probably struck by how much of a "dandy" pretty-boy type Martell is, fussing over his hair as much as his playbook at the outset.
But after watching the whole thing, I gotta admit... that dude can ball. I'd rather face Haskins.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^
I think we will likely see quite a bit of Martell in two weeks.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:28 PM ^
Good, load the box with speedy LBs and vipers and make him pass against our lockdown corners.
November 16th, 2018 at 1:37 PM ^
Yup, I was thinking the same thing. Urbz is going to run him a lot because Haskins cannot handle an ounce of pressure or he becomes wildly inaccurate.
