Okay lets break this down...
"This could, of course, change, but currently, multiple sources expect Michigan to lose Patterson."
Translation:
"This could, of course, change..." = We don't know for sure
"...but currently, multiple sources..." = but as of today there are some secret people I know but I'm not saying who
"...expect Michigan to lose Patterson..." = that are thinking privately that Michigan won't have Shea next year.
In other words, some randos not affiliated with Shea whatsoever are guessing he's not coming back.
Don't worry everyone. This could of course change, but I personally have multiple sources that expect Michigan to have Shea available next year.

I just don’t think Shea is ready for the NFL to be honest. He’s insanely talented but he should consider another year to improve his resume and his performance ability.

I hear you but throwing the ball 18 times a games isn’t going to do much for him. Shea will get a ton more reps in the NFL when he doesn’t have to play college student and can focus on football. He can make the tough throws and got plenty of coaching by Harbsugh to get ready for the NFL.
It would be great to see him back, but I don’t think it’s happening.

If by weak year you mean a very deep year, then you are correct. It’s so deep that Patterson I swear not even top 10 in many rankings and top 5 to no one.

If by deep you mean there are a lot of mediocre guys then you are correct. There’s no reason that Haskins and Patterson both can’t get higher grades than guys like Drew Lock and Ryan Finley, and beyond that you’re looking at players like Jared Stidham.
Shea and Haskins are both in the top 5 neighborhood of QBs if they come out. The top ten lists that didn’t have them simply didn’t evaluate them or are out of date.
You really don’t think Shea is getting drafted behind Clayton Thorson, do you?

NFL actually liked Thorson a lot more than you think they would. Thorson looks the part. He is considered to be a day 2 prospect even though I disagree with their assessment.

Yes and I think what you are missing is Patterson is one of the “mediocre guys” NFL network just made a list of position groups and Shea wasn’t even included. Shea is 5”11-6”0. He is going to need to have a heisman year next year to be a first round pick. I believe he could achieve that. But if he leaves this year he is going to have to be ok being a 2-4 round pick and not have an organization need him to succeed.

Who exactly do you have before Patterson?
Most mock drafts and analysts have Oregon's Justin Herbert at the top QB prospect, and then the top-5 is usually some order of:
- OSU's Dwayne Haskins
- Missouri's Drew Lock
- WVU's Will Grier
- NC State's Ryan Finley
With lack of consensus in the rest of the top-10 including:
- Duke's Daniel Jones
- Michigan's Shea Patteron
- Auburn's Jarrett Stidham
- Northwestern's Clay Thorson
- Washington's Jake Browning
I'd say Shea Patterson is very much in the argument of being a top-10 QB prospect, and could very easily work himself into top-5 with a good combine. None of the other prospects are heads and toes better than Shea.

boflex that is my exact point. He is borderline top 10 and maybe could improve a little. Doesn’t make sense to leave unless getting to the NFL ASAP is the only priority.

No, my point is that Shea Patterson is solidly a top-10 QB prospect, and a borderline top-5. So there’s a really good chance Shea gets drafted in the first 2 rounds.
Next year draft class will have Eason, Fromm, Tagovailoa, Ehlinger at the top.

Not necessarily. McCaffrey will be ready to lead. Do I want Shea to leave, no. But, we our stable of QBs is fine!

I would prefer Shea to come back, mostly for Qb depth. I wouldn't be surprised to see Peters leave after the season. If both him and Shea leave, we will have McCaffrey and Milton and McNamara. That is not good depth. One will be coming off a broken shoulder, the other hasn't thrown a D1 pass and the other is a true freshman. I have alot of faith in McCaffrey, but we're not in position to be ok if our top Qb or top couple Qbs go down with injury.

It probably will be. McCaffery will be healed by spring practice, Milton will have a full year under his belt, and Harbaugh may go after a grad transfer.
We all expected him to leave after this year anyway.

A player with a year in the system that hasn't thrown a college pass yet isn't "good depth" when they would be the backup. It's an unknown at best. I have alot of optimism regarding Milton as all the talk has been about how much he loves the game and how great his work ethic is, still, it doesn't mean he will be ready in year 2. Harbaugh may go after a grad transfer. He may not get a grad transfer. Or may not get a quality one. We could have good depth at Qb next year. We probably won't unless a couple things happen. And those are an unknown at this point.
We all expected Shea to leave and yet, that has nothing to do with any point made.

If you did, you were probably struck by how much of a "dandy" pretty-boy type Martell is, fussing over his hair as much as his playbook at the outset.
But after watching the whole thing, I gotta admit... that dude can ball. I'd rather face Haskins.

Yup, I was thinking the same thing. Urbz is going to run him a lot because Haskins cannot handle an ounce of pressure or he becomes wildly inaccurate.
