Michigan v. Villanova Basketball tonight 6:30 FS1
I think a PSA may be in order about this game. Never has a National Championship game rematch garnered less attention from a fan base than this one. I was kind of thinking there would be a preview today or something, a mention, a faint whisper, a fading memory, something, maybe?
Anyway, I get it, there is a lot of football still to be played. And frankly, if this year follows the same path as, like, every Beilein team except for that one we will lose this game in howling fashion. But it is a thing that is occurring so just a reminder to check in on it tonight. Revenge tour continues? Maybe? No?
Go Blue.

My thoughts on tonight: NOT IN THE FACE!
Edit: Me not smart
November 14th, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
No, you were right. That is, in fact, what Villanova is saying right now.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
Go Blue! Defense wins games in November. Good opportunity for this team to grow the offense as season goes on. Interesting they don't play MSU until 2/24/19 and 3/9/19
November 14th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
Nice to have those wins in our back pocket for later in the season
November 14th, 2018 at 3:59 PM ^
I posted more in depth yesterday but I'm expecting a repeat of the National Title Game. Not a huge fan of our chances here
November 14th, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
If you mean we're likely to lose by double digits, I would agree. However, I don't think either team will resemble those that played in the title last year
November 14th, 2018 at 5:09 PM ^
Do they have another ginger assassin that will drop 31?
November 14th, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
Looks like they suited up Ryan Arcidiacano again, just in case
November 14th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
I wasn't either, until I started watching this game. How do you feel now? 73-46 with the refs helping NOVA not get blown out worst
November 14th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
I feel guilty now as I didn't know this game was tonite.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
ghost of divencenzo still haunts me in my dreams
November 14th, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
The ghost of Luke Hancock haunts me more.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:13 PM ^
Speaking of haunting- I live in Wisconsin. The Bucks drafted DJ high last year and he is a major bust... Huge Bust. This year they draft Dante and it seems like there’s actual potential there. It’s been really hard for me to enjoy their hot start.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 14th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
Michigan has a chance because of its suffocating defense but the overall poor shooting numbers thus far make this an uphill battle. Jordan Poole needs to get going for Michigan to win at the Pavilion tonight.
THE SECTION WHERE I PREDICT THE SAME THING KENPOM DOES
Villanova by 8.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:28 PM ^
Cant shoot terrible every night right? I like to brag a little bit of my potential but I never could've played at Michigan but I do know that if I would've went to a gym this summer 4 or 5 times a week for a couple hours, I still would be lethal from downtown because of those couple months getting my shot back on. I've done it before. I don't see how these kids for that great university can be so terrible at shooting. Unbelievable. Get your heads out of your asses kids and practice shooting. F-in A.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:49 PM ^
Yes, yes we can shoot terrible every night - - until we don't. I plan for the improvement in late January at the earliest.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:13 PM ^
Brilliant! If only Michigan players or coaches were as smart as you.
"Hey, guys, how can we get better at shooting?"
"Um.. Fortnite?"
"Uh... I think... let's draw unicorns. Rainbow unicorns! With wings!"
Tell you what, internet tough guy. Why don't you head down to Crisler and challenge the team to a shooting contest?
November 14th, 2018 at 5:19 PM ^
Ohhh look! It's our first early season angry basketball fan who hasn't learned from the past 2 years!
November 14th, 2018 at 6:26 PM ^
Holy shit that's good
November 14th, 2018 at 8:49 PM ^
So yeah, I was very wrong about needing to get Poole going -- he's still MIA and it couldn't have mattered any less. But I was very right about that suffocating defense. I'll take it!

There is a lot of football to be played, but I am sure a fair number of us watch the entire basketball season from start to finish too. I know I do. My wife and kids know I do too - "sports season", as my wife terms it.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
I dread when sports season is out of session from April through September.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
Me April through September without Michigan sports...

Tonight we get to experience what it's like being a Indiana football fan.
Hopeful
But not very optimistic
November 14th, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
Dude, you're a real downer the past couple weeks. Could mistake you for Cranky Dave or Don.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^
Well, you're sort of right. Indiana football fans only ever get this feeling about basketball, though.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:18 PM ^
I'll probably watch this game, but don't really get into college basketball until January, which, surprise, is when football is done.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:05 PM ^
Thanks for sharing
November 14th, 2018 at 6:33 PM ^
Please...tell us more about swimming teams. *eye roll*
November 14th, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
I think there are three major factors in this:
1. This was touched on by Beilein, but these teams are completely different teams than last year.
2. Game is on FS1 so we don't see constant advertisements for it.
3. The reality is, sadly I don't think most of us believe that Michigan has a real shot in this game. I would imagine this could be different by the end of the year because of Beilein's ability to coach the guys up, but from the shooting we have seen thus far, it could get ugly tonight, so it is hard to get really excited.
That said, I will be watching the game tonight as I am one of the people who watches basketball religiously as well as football.
Go Blue!
November 14th, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
Michigan loses by at least 20. Hopefully this helps the team grow and they get it together by the time conference play starts.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:55 PM ^
The true Ty Butterfield is back! All this football winning made me wonder if your depressing worldview would go away -- nope, you just transferred it to basketball!
November 14th, 2018 at 5:08 PM ^
He's probably still bummed we beat State this year.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
21-7, 2 of the last 3.
3 in a row in basketball.
Go back to rcmb. Your act is insufferable.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:57 PM ^
who pissed in your cheerios? what a horrible attitude with which to go through life.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:52 PM ^
How are you feeling about your take right about now?
November 14th, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
Maybe he'll leave again.
*fingers crossed*
November 14th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
*I turn on game*

Go back to raking your leaves and don't come back.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
I put in a request for tickets from a vendor who is a major arena sponsor which did not happen...and I'm not terribly upset. This will likely be a bit of a slog game with a likely unfavorable outcome.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:04 PM ^
If we're lucky, this will be a slog. Unfortunately, I think it's going to be a lot of Nova running our misses up-court to spot-up threes and dunks. Lather, rinse and repeat. See also: game against UNC last year. And I'll join the chorus of "team will be different in February."
November 14th, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
Unfortunately, early-season college basketball is just brutal in so many ways. The games don't really matter, they're in the middle of football season, and the quality of play is often pretty poor. Also, these two teams have changed a lot since last year, so it doesn't really feel like a rematch.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:35 PM ^
Disagree that the games don’t matter. They matter a good deal for tournament seeding. A win at Villanova world be huge for resume.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:46 PM ^
You're right, but they lack the same luster of, say, a big early-season football match-up because there are so many more games to be played in the future. The feeling of desperation isn't there.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
That's precisely why big early-season football matchups are a dying breed. The risk/reward ratio for a challenging non-conference schedule is much better in basketball than it is in football, where a single loss is a giant scarlet letter.
