But why would someone be better able to hone their skills in college than in the NBA? In the NBA, he'll have better skill developers (or, at least more of them, JB of course elite in this regard), better competition, even in playing in the GL, and will be able to devote himself full time to the sport, rather than having at least some academic stuff to consider.

The only real reason to stay in college, IMO, is if you really want to play college basketball. Some people do - I think Mo and Miles Bridges are both good recent examples. But others probably don't

Believe it or not, I posted my comment without reading yours. I think we are on the same page

04/25/2018 - 7:35pm UD has solid academics and

UD has solid academics and the campus is actually pretty nice. Also, the student neighborhoods are out of control - basically 5 square blocks of nothing but university housing. I remember the celebration videos from their elite eight run a few years back - that place can get pretty crazy.

Though I agree that, outside of UD, there is not much in Dayton that would attract someone

That's awesome, seems like a great landing spot for him

I have no problem with the Penguins per se, but just very tired of seeing them win. Really would be nice to see Washington finally get over the hump, or Tampa/Boston take them out in the ECF

Man, I lived in Pittsburgh at the time and went to this game. Those were peak "jay wright chokes in the tournament" years

sometimes it's as simple as the other guys are a bit better and played a bit better

04/02/2018 - 10:25pm I would argue we got better

I would argue we got better looks from 3 than nova did. Divincenzo has just been the best player on the court by a mile (minues the first 5 mins from Wagner)

Stick to the general plan, with the adjustment of trying to deny Devincenzo the ball as must as possible. And make open shots

04/02/2018 - 10:17pm Duncan Robinson autobench did

Duncan Robinson autobench did not help us out this half either

I disagree. We got quite a few good open looks from 3, just didn't make them. When the open shots don't fall, everything seems to clog up

04/02/2018 - 10:11pm I haven't seen anyone execute

I haven't seen anyone execute the 2-for-1 like that. Great coaching and shot by Villanova. Sometimes you just have to give the other guys credit

04/02/2018 - 9:37pm we are quicker than villonva.

we are quicker than villonva. The dribble drive is there right now - if they start collapsing, we could be getting some good looks from 3.

This could be happening guys

04/01/2018 - 6:07pm I don't know why them being

I don't know why them being eliminated reduces your caring for their opinions.

I for one appreciate the range of opinions - it's clear there are rational elements of their fanbase, and those that appreciate the way in which Beilein has built the program. I hope we would feel the same way about a clean, hard working OSU basketball program.

It is also interesting to hear how divergent the opinions are between basketball and football. I suspect our fanbse would draw similar distinctions between the two sports

I don't either. I said the same 3 weeks ago.

They won a lot of "quadrant 1" games. But they also lost 7 games. Thay got their seed based on reputation and adherence to a meaningless metric (RPI)

03/31/2018 - 10:12pm kansas doesn't look like it

kansas doesn't look like it belongs on this court

I'm of course worried about nova, but KU has nothing on the michigan defense

03/31/2018 - 9:29pm yes, but if a team is on fire

yes, but if a team is on fire for game 1, that doesn't affect their chance of being on fire for game 2, positively or negatively

p.s., please nobody use 'law of averages' - it does not exist

I haven't bought kansas as a 1 seed all year - this game is all confirmation bias so far

On the one hand I agree, but on the other hand, he can't be any more effective against us than Haas was. Him vs. Wagner could be a fascinating matchup

03/27/2018 - 9:17am Agree with the opinions of

Agree with the opinions of most posters here so far. Loyola seems aesthetically similar to Michigan, but with the following deficiencies:

  • Much higher turnover rate
  • Worse DREB
  • Worse defensive team in general
  • A 5 that is not agile and presumably cannot guard the perimeter

With styles so similar, it is hard to imagine a scenario where Loyola comes out on top other than simply having a much better percentage on similar-quality shots to us.

Of course, in watching the past few Loyola games, I am amazed by the ability of almost all of their players to get to the bucket offensively. They really move well both with and without the ball. So, if they are carving our D up with the dribble drive (unexpected, but possible), and Wagner is off from 3, we could have a game

03/26/2018 - 10:22pm That is awesome. In watching

That is awesome. In watching some of his clips he seems to really labor to get open shots and get into the paint, but it's hard to argue with his production over the past few weeks.

It would be great if he and THJ could build something in NY.

Duke - though I feel a bit better about defending Nova after this game today. They can go cold from three if you aren't giving them drive and kicks all game

03/25/2018 - 4:04pm TTU is giving us a blueprint

TTU is giving everyone a blueprint on how to defend Nova. Put Z on Brunson and don't help off of anyone else. Brunson is the only one that seems capable of creating his own shot for Nova (at least against TTU)

Nova is the one team I would not feel confident about our chances against

03/25/2018 - 10:39am Maybe a not so popular

Maybe a not so popular opinion, but I actually enjoyed the 2014 team more than the 2013 team. Watching Stauskas torch MSU at the Breslin, the Dakich-deemed "cold blooded" step back 3 to beat Wisconsin at Kohl, and in general the insane offensive prowess that team had. Every game felt like the team could go off for 90

Matthews has come up huge for us in the NCAA tournament. Simpson is great, but I think Matthews is the defensive MVP of the team esp, when you consider his impact on the glass

At least Mo's D has been very good this half - not letting his offensive struggles impact him on D.

Even when he isn't scoring, we need him out there to spread the floor against a team like this
