In these cases personally, I doubt the kid is lying. I don’t think he’s pulling out of thin air that they will not have room for him. The coaches probably explained the depth chart to him and probably explained how the chances of him playing early were not good. He seemed genuinely excited to be here so I doubt he decided to pull the plug on his own chances of being here.

So all of the people being critical of a possible 2020 scholarship possibly being pulled, have you thought about how asymmetrical the process seems to be?

The 2020 "commit" can change his mind and go to another school.  That's cool.

But if we pull a scholarship more than one year before the LOI (let alone signing day) than that is not cool.

We don't even know if or why the scholarship was pulled.  The kid may have gone wrong or changed his mind.  But then he is allowed to blame the coaching staff and they can't reply.

Anybody that thinks the entire process is titled against the kids should think about all of this.

Per Sam Webb on twitter:

"There's often more to these things than is said publicly. Sometimes MUCH more."

Some other guy on twitter:

"Like a silent commit...;)"

Sam:

"No, nothing to do with that."

Reading between Sam's lines, it appears as though this doesn't have anything to do with available spots on the future rosters.

"umbig11 must be getting information from people like Sam."

That's certainly possible, but I'd bet that Sam's info comes from a source within or very close to the program. If umbig11 truly is an "insider" there's no reason to think he wouldn't have access to the same info himself.

In any event, it appears to me that all the back-and-forth in this thread about whether Harbaugh pulled the offer because better guys were available and if that's OK or not is basically moot—that's not what's going on in this case.

If he wanted to openly post as Adam Biggers, he would do so (personally, I believe that he is, because of similarities in writing styles).  He is wise to remain officially anonymous here, though, because it allows him some freedom to say things that he wants to say, without tying it to his day job.

What would wrong with simply respecting his desire to just be another poster here?

Take his posts for what they are worth, and don't worry about his real identity.

There are a lot of variables that can change a commitment. Especially one so far out. I don’t know anymore than what is posted here. But safe to assume, there is more to the story. Makes no sense to bang on 〽️or kid. Lots of time for him to find a new school. If he is really talented he will find plenty of suitors.

From his decommitment letter, it seems that he got processed. If true, and if there are not other important but unmentioned reasons (grades, etc.), this is wrong. There are mitigating factors (timing, etc.), but I don't think it absolves the program or Harbaugh. This is wrong.
