No but Rudy is a main character. And he dies.

It’s the dark version of E.T. with a touch of Alien, Goonies and Firestarter...(probably trying to reach an audience that grew up in the 80’s).
The sheriff and Winona Ryder’s performances were decent but still leaves a lot to be desired.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:05 AM ^
Yeah, Stranger Things is a good show but the accolades it receives is way over the top. It is a rarity that there is a mature TV drama that parents can watch with like middle school kids, so it is certainly a novelty on TV, but it isn't like "15 Golden Globe nominations" good.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
Winona Ryder is still hot as fuck. Even when she's trying to look ugly. Which makes her even hotter.

Everyone needs to root for chaos at this point.
September 6th, 2018 at 9:27 AM ^
Seing as how PSU and MSU struggle, I expect some "top" team to struggle and lose this weekend as well. This is college football.
Root for maxxxx chaos.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:15 AM ^
Maxxxx chaos in other conferences though. If we're dreaming about playoffs, we need MSU and PSU to win non-conference games to bolster SOS.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:41 AM ^
As logical as that sounds, I don't think we need that. We could theoretically lose to ONE of them and as long as we beat Ohio State, and get to and win the B1G CG, we're a lock-- even with 2 losses. B1G East is just too top heavy for the committee to ignore that. Maryland is actually a better team this year than last as well.
Side note: why are we not discussing more important things like BLUE end zones @ The Big House vs "Playoff Rematch with ND"?

I could also wake up tomorrow and find out that everyone on Earth except Margot Robbie and I dropped dead, and then she and I get together and re-populate the planet.
Doesn't mean it's going to happen.....

Any chance at all that you don't create a thread for the next random thought that pops into your head?
I mean I know you've got 20 minutes to kill after 4th period before lunch starts but maybe just hang with your buddies on the playground this one time?

September 6th, 2018 at 9:57 AM ^
If Notre Dame makes the playoffs, that means a 1 loss Michigan is making it over the pac 12 champ and big 12 champ (assuming Clemson/va tech and sec champ are in)
Good luck with that
September 6th, 2018 at 10:09 AM ^
We have to win out to make the playoff. We obviously could win the BIG with an in conference loss but I don't think we can lose another game and make it. The SEC could very well get two teams again this year.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:42 AM ^
If we win out, we'll have wins over a bunch of top teams and a Big 10 Championship. There's no way we're kept out under those circumstances unless there's 4 undefeated teams in the other conferences.
September 6th, 2018 at 11:03 AM ^
No, that is what I am saying. If we win out, we will go to the playoff - 100%. I don't see it under any other circumstance.
September 6th, 2018 at 11:21 AM ^
My reply was to Shane (agreeing with you). The way that comments thread now makes it hard to tell who is taking to who.
September 6th, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
So you're suggesting that if Michigan runs the table from here on, beating a ranked MSU, Wisconsin, PSU, and OSU and takes the conference championship game, they'd still be left out of the CFP because they lost their season opener against ND?
That's an insanely dopey take.

September 6th, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
If Michigan wins out they should be in the playoff. with all of the bitching going on about how we lost on Saturday, I think people forget that Georgia went into South Bend last year and won by 1 point. ND could have (and maybe should have?) won that game.
We had a chance of tying (or going for the win) in that game. Georgia went to the national championship game.
people need to get a little perspective.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:26 AM ^
Well first, Georgia went into South Bend and won by 1 point last year in their Coach's second year of ever being a head coach, ever. So virtually no expectations.
We went into South Bend and lost in our coach's fourth year with sky high expectations because Jim Harbaugh. So not exactly apples to oranges.
Second, it's not so much that we lost as it is how we lost. The offense looked bad. No other way to slice it. QB looked better obviously but aside from that, the O-Line still couldn't handle itself and so negated most of the gains at the QB position because he never any time to go through his reads and the WRs had no time to run their routes due to almost instant pressure.
So we're back to 2017 and hoping the defense can bail out the team all game enough for us to win. Hopefully they can get this fixed in the next few games so that we don't repeat the same issues against the meat of the B1G schedule...but, at the moment this offense doesn't instill much if any confidence in me.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:49 AM ^
"Well first, Georgia went into South Bend and won by 1 point last year in their Coach's second year of ever being a head coach, ever. " You're missing the Caveat-- He sat under Saban's wing for over(?) a decade? The world needs to give ND more respect (vomit). They are actually a great defensive team with an arm punter at QB who CAN run. Basically their Denard.
As for this offense, I'm still of the belief it's "better", the question is "how much?"... only time will tell...
September 6th, 2018 at 11:07 AM ^
You are kidding me. Georgia had like 325 yards. Michigan had what 305 yards? thats a wash. Jake Fromm passed for 141 yards. Thats right.
And your argument is that K smart's second year? Whatever. He was at alabama forever.
It is HARD to win at ND and we played like Georgia. Sorry but I actually came away ok from that game. I think we will make some noise in the B1G this year. Yes good OL will push us over the top, but with Shea Patterson moving around and passing on the run, we will have chance in every game.
Team continues to improve is what I'll be looking for.
September 6th, 2018 at 11:34 AM ^
I never said anything about total yardage results between the two games. My point was expectations surrounding the program at the time each game was played.
McElwain was at Bama for four years and we all saw how well he coached the Gators. Mario Cristobal spent 3 years at Bama and so far his HC record is terrible.
Simply being at Alabama as some sort of assistant/coordinator doesn't automatically make one an excellent head coach. That's an absurd argument.
September 6th, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
Whatever argument you are posing (which honestly I'm confused what you are saying) doesn't change the fact that Michigan DID play ND like Georgia played ND last year. I see no significant difference (and yes, yardage does tell the story). Thats my argument. Your main argument is "how we looked". Well Georgia didn't look like world beater in southbend. They were in championship game.
This is not the final M team. Growth will happen.
September 6th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
I agree. The O-Line got tossed into the deep end of the pool in Week 1 and didn't step up to the challenge. Now that we have a few easier games to gel and tune out some of the bugs, I expect them to be working much better. They won't be an All-B1G unit, but they'll be better.
I predict in a month we'll be bemoaning the fact that we signed up to play ND Game 1 rather than Game 3 or 4.
September 6th, 2018 at 2:40 PM ^
Or bemoaning the fact that we signed up to play them again at all. I realized sometime before kickoff of that game on Saturday that I really did not need anymore M v. Notre Dame in my life.
September 6th, 2018 at 11:12 AM ^
Exactly. We didn’t lose in an offensive shootout between two high powered offenses. We didn’t lose in a battle of great defenses on a last second field goal. We lost and looked like a team that has a lot of issues. Some of these issues will improve throughout the season, some of these issues will be masked (like last year) when we play inferior teams, and other issues will be exposed when we play better teams with solid defenses.
September 6th, 2018 at 3:06 PM ^
What do the expectations of the coach have to do with winning games moving forward? The point was that Georgia barely won last year, didn’t look great, and made the national championship game. Expectations for the coach mean nothing when it comes to winning games
September 6th, 2018 at 10:14 AM ^
Alright, I'll break up the negativity train. I would absolutely love it if this happened. Obviously I'd love if UM made the Playoff, but to face ND again would be awesome. They wouldn't get all those 50/50 plays against our D, our O would have a season's worth of time to gel, it'd be on a neutral field, and we'd kick their ass this time. Go Blue.
September 6th, 2018 at 10:26 AM ^

Just not going to happen. Neither team is making the playoffs.

ND might. Have you seen their schedule this year? USC, Stanford and Fl State are all down. They could very easily win out.

I've posted this same comment twice in threads this week. There is no way it deserves it's own thread title, especially after already being discussed.

Did they expand the playoffs to 128 teams and I missed it?
September 6th, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
As the great Jim Mora would say “playoffs”
Not a chance this team makes it to the playoffs. They will finish third in the division again and not even sniff the kind of success we all thought they would be able to achieve this year. Very sad state of affairs in Ann Arbor.

Yes Stranger Things happened on Netflix.
