2019 Class OT: "I had a great time at the University of Michigan. I’ll definitely be coming back."
Though only having a short experience at playing football, 2019 OT, Danielson Ike, (6'6", 300) is already a 4 Star, and has an impressive offer sheet. Michigan, Stanford, Nebraska, Alabama, and Louisville, among others, are on the quickly growing list. Miami had held a "100%" crystal ball for him. But, the coach at Miami that had been recruiting him left Miami for a position at Alabama. Since then, contact between he and Miami has fallen way off.

Originally from Nigeria, Danielson Ike moved with his family to America in September of 2015.
He had played basketball in Nigeria, but landed in Miami having never watched a football game in his life. By the following spring Ike was already turning heads at big-time Division I programs.

“I used to be a basketball player,” Ike explained. “My coach said, ‘you’re really aggressive. let’s try football.’ I tried football and it was just came natural to me. I was keeping tabs on NFL players seeing how they do what they do, and we just went from there.”
....High School coach Tony Severino, a Missouri Sports Hall of Fame inductee, is guiding the 6-foot-6, 300-pound prospect through it all....
....“I think what’s going to happen — we’ll sit down and I’ll talk to him about getting this thing to about 10 schools, going around this summer with his guardian and going to different places,” Severino said. “He’ll get it figured out. Obviously, he’s been to some of the schools. He’ll make his choice. It’s been overwhelming right now.”
....“Any place would be a good fit for him, trust me,” Severino said. “He’s exactly what most offensive line coaches are looking for. Big, physical, athletic offensive lineman. You wouldn’t know he’s 16 years old by looking at him. He’d fit right in to about any system you can get into. He’s just learning the game. He’s getting better and better every game he plays.”
....Severino noted that Ike’s footwork improved throughout the season. Once he locked on to a defender and did not release. By the end of the season he was recording six or seven pancake blocks per game.

Danielson Ike has given some thoughts on his recruiting process:
“I’m going to wait until the end of my senior year,” Ike said. “I’m going to take the process slow.... I don’t want to redshirt as a freshman, I want to go somewhere I can play right away,” Ike said. “And I want good communication with the coaches.”
Here's a 4 minute video interview with him, from 3 months ago, at Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Dallas:

Ike was in Ann Arbor this weekend. This is what he had to say about the visit:
I had a great time at the University of Michigan. I’ll definitely be coming back.... Go Blue

Can his enthusiasm be chalked up to Ed Warinner? It sure seems that Michigan is attracting a good caliber of offensive lineman this year.
Man, he looks good in Blue. GO BLUE!!
Also, I believe his last name is pronounced "Icky" like something gross, not Ike like Dwight Eisenhower. Which is something.
It's pronounced more like "Ee-kay" in the States, but to be more exact "Ih-keh".
Nice, good to know
The knights who until recently said "nee"?
Oh Ike, you're so fine
You're so fine you blow my mind
Hey Ike *clap, clap*
Hey Ike
That is one big fella.
Ike,Ike,Ike can't you see
maize n blue look good on the
and I just love your blocky ways
won't you come to AA to stay
Nice! Waiting for bluey to give some "constructive criticism" about his offers not being commitable.
“None of those offers are committable”
Hell of a writeup, Skypanther man.
Thanks man. It was my football fix for the day too.
Real tackles wear #77!
Nice breakdown. I continue to be amazed HS-aged kids can be that big.
I continue to be amazed by the same thing. Like I tell people, it has taken me 40 years to get to 5'9", and here is my alma mater recruiting kids who probably passed my adult height sometime in middle school.
In my middle school we had several guys were 6'4" to 6'6". It's got to be weird to be that big, but it's got to be even weirder being that big at 13-14.
Middle school where I live is 5th - 8th grade. My daughter will be going to middle school next year at ~50"-52" tall. I hope she doesn't get stepped on.
When I was in middle school and high school in the 70's, there were very few people in that 6'5" or 6'6" range. None in middle school and maybe a couple in our high school of 1,200. Now, you see people that tall or taller all the time. Better nutrition? Growth hormones in the food?
Red Bull!
I know lots of immigrants from Mexico and Central America. In all cases, all of them that have had children born to them in America, the children are taller than them. Most of the time they are taller than them by the time they are 12. And in a few cases, by the time they are 15, they are MUCH taller. You may not be able to pick out their parents in a crowd. American beef and chicken is full of growth hormone and steroids. Athletes have to be careful to only eat meat and chicken that is 100% natural and organic. Otherwise the growth hormones and steroids can show up in their urine.
The #1 basketball player in the country in eight grade, Emoni Bates, played at Clague Middle School in Ann Arbor where he averaged 40 ppg this year. He's 6'8" at age 14 and a triple option threat offensively..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCDsF2w74q4
He's actually from Ypsilanti so I assume he was availing himself of the school of choice option to attend Clague which is a very good intermediate school..
He'll be playing at Lincoln High School in Ypsi Twnshp next year.
Hope he's all blue!
Yeah, I still remember working in South Quad's cafeteria as a freshman and seeing the football players dine there. These guys were basically my age and yet they looked like a whole different type of human being. Just super tall, super broad guys who would be the biggest dude in a room in about 95% of the world.
I was 5’6 when I was 14. I am 5’6 in my early 30s. Fuck me.
Lol, no shit. I hit 6-3 in 6th grade. Guess what, still 6-3 at 36
Good info, thank you. I like Ike.
But...
Does Shawn like Ike?
He is huge
So he'll choose Alabama? -Bluey
That's what I thought. Until he said he doesn't want to redshirt.
Is he the #1 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania? Asking for a friend.
Hang on and I’ll create a Wikipedia page that says he is.
Could be a great get, but have to disabuse him of the notion that playing as a true freshman will be a given.
Especially on the OL. That's a rare (or desperate) thing.
Trying to get a good look at the blue end zone.
Just beat OSU and the big time croots will come.
That is all this program needs to focus on right now. All day every god damn day.
Okay, if you are a sportsman you definitely like studying. Ordinary students are not very impressed by the amounts of essays they must write. I know that there is a possibility order an essay on https://rapidessay.com/custom-coursework.html but it still costs money.
