I would argue that is not the case.

Never expected him in the first place. He was just doing the typical "we're going to shock the world with our pick" to build up hype, then pick the lame favorite all along.
Scout and the other recruiting sites were playing along to gather more clicks. Lame.

is waivering and just a mtter of time before he goes elsewhere
I am not sure if it is true but I would not doubt it
11 losses in the past 2 seasons has taken a toll

Urban and his staff can't coach up the talent anyway. All these top 5 classes going to waste. /s
January 4th, 2014 at 2:28 PM ^
And he let it out that Lattimore is going to play there as well.
I've watched a little to seem McDowell and Mason Cole, but it's pretty boring without significant Michigan influence.
I will say this, Kyle Allen is LEGIT. That kid is going to be a beast at Texas A&M.

Wow, those scholarship limits really hurt Ohio State huh?
Hopefully Smith takes up one of the spots Braxton vacates in a few days.

Why are you dogging Marshall, Mone, Ferns, Winovich, Cole, Harris, and Canteen? They're all rated as 4-star prospects by Scout.
Just like Smith is.

@Damien_D1Harris : Regardless of if I'm committed to a school or not, I'm still a fan of college football. I can cheer for whoever I want. End of story.

Adult college football fans being able to read the thoughts of HS recruits is the worst thing to ever happen to college recruiting. It puts the world's finest mouth breathers in direct contact with 16 and 17 year old guys
January 4th, 2014 at 4:27 PM ^
And disturbing...
And makes you wish they'd all move to N. Korea and never have any contact with anyone but each other ever again.

the dude can flat out recruit. For example, he's come down to the DFW area and grabbed the top player the last two years.
January 4th, 2014 at 3:17 PM ^
With his overall coaching record and two national championships to boot, he ought to be able to recruit well.
January 4th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
Hoke would be reeling in the 5 stars if his team won 11 games this season! God, I hope our team improves and win 10 next season. I think recruiting will go much better if we do! But realistically we will have another meh year in 2014. I think 2015 has some hope for at least 10 wins and a BCS bowl.

Gotta focus more on developing the players we get and improving coaching- recruiting only gets you so far
January 4th, 2014 at 4:33 PM ^
on 4 and 5 star recruits. MSU has proved you can win with much lower rated players.
In the past three years have we had a 4 or 5 star recruit that made a difference?

If the chances of getting Malik McDowell and Jeffrey Jones to commit to Michigan are not too good, and with no other highly-rated, uncommitted prospects from the 2014 recruiting class showing any real interest in Michigan, will the recruting efforts now be limited just to not losing any of the current commits, and keeping the 2014 class at 16 student-athletes?
Will any scholarships be kept open for potential graduate transfers from BCS schools or some of the top FCS schools who have substantial playing experience, still have a year of eligibility left and might be interested in a MIchigan graduate program that's not available at their current school?

I hope these two have a healthy 4 years and enjoy going 0-4. Shit is gonna start changing, starting next year in toilet town.

Isn't just calling it Ohio a lot easier?

The last minute rumor-spreading by folks close to these kids (at least according to the recruiting gurus) speaks really poorly of the whole process. Seems like some kids want to step back from the "table of hats" while others (or at least their circles) need to drum up fake suspense. Throw in a little "taking my talents to..." and it makes some of these kids (even if they might be great folks in "real life") a lot less likeable.
