...so clever. But with Lattimore shocking the world and imminently picking Michigan today...it surprises me that Smith doesn't want to play with Lattimore in college.

Never expected him in the first place.  He was just doing the typical "we're going to shock the world with our pick" to build up hype, then pick the lame favorite all along.

Scout and the other recruiting sites were playing along to gather more clicks.  Lame.

And he let it out that Lattimore is going to play there as well.

I've watched a little to seem McDowell and Mason Cole, but it's pretty boring without significant Michigan influence.

I will say this, Kyle Allen is LEGIT. That kid is going to be a beast at Texas A&M.

the dude can flat out recruit.   For example, he's come down to the DFW area and grabbed the top player the last two years.

Hoke would be reeling in the 5 stars if his team won 11 games this season! God, I hope our team improves and win 10 next season. I think recruiting will go much better if we do! But realistically we will have another meh year in 2014. I think 2015 has some hope for at least 10 wins and a BCS bowl.

Gotta focus more on developing the players we get and improving coaching- recruiting only gets you so far

on 4 and 5 star recruits. MSU has proved you can win with much lower rated players.

In the past three years have we had a 4 or 5 star recruit that made a difference?

If the chances of getting Malik McDowell and Jeffrey Jones to commit to Michigan are not too good, and with no other highly-rated, uncommitted prospects from the 2014 recruiting class showing any real interest in Michigan, will the recruting efforts now be limited just to not losing any of the current commits, and keeping the 2014 class at 16 student-athletes?

Will any scholarships be kept open for potential graduate transfers from BCS schools or some of the top FCS schools who have substantial playing experience, still have a year of eligibility left and might be interested in a MIchigan graduate program that's not available at their current school?

in a literal sense other than we usually don't take them/accept them. Yet, it does bring up a good scholarship question. I've long agreed (before Hand went Bama) that we weren't getting MM. So, we then whiffed late on a DE who changed from Missouri to nd. I don't see any snake oil this year given that we lost (imho) Hand, MM & GC due to poor/boring offensive play (I really think that) and how atrocious it was building a negativity toward UM. Beginning of the year? If the kid came to AA he was likely leaving a commit or lean. By the Nebraska game? We had our offense (and thereby record in most losses) scaring off defensive kids (!), a commit who might be the nation's best player and RAPPED his commit on live tv that we seem to have barely held onto, then losing maybe the best player next year we had locked up to the point he was calling himself the mayor of AA and Cole's Sister is on ESPN talking about how committed he is, coach won't let players decommit, like a brother/son to the Cole family and 100% blue, etc. Scared him off. Point being, I see no kids of major "scouted talent" using the last 2-3 ships in this already small class. Do we bank them or use them on "good will" offers like Glenville or another place we want to put or keep a foot in the door? Sky is not falling but recruiting momentum has done a 180 from even this time last year. No win = no kids. Good guy or not, eventually kids look to wins or at least exciting play. Youth or not, our offense is a wreck and the defense was turning into one as the year ran on (don't think GMatt is a problem like our offensive guys, though). So: bank, toss at randoms and hope one works out, tacopants, other?

Is a very intelligent post:

FUCK OHIO STATE

I hope these two have a healthy 4 years and enjoy going 0-4. Shit is gonna start changing, starting next year in toilet town.

The last minute rumor-spreading by folks close to these kids (at least according to the recruiting gurus) speaks really poorly of the whole process.  Seems like some kids want to step back from the "table of hats" while others (or at least their circles) need to drum up fake suspense.  Throw in a little "taking my talents to..." and it makes some of these kids (even if they might be great folks in "real life") a lot less likeable.
