I wonder if Al Borges watched the game. I think Heiko was Clemsons offensive coordinator with all those bubble screens to Watkins.
That loss was on the Ohio state defense inability to tackle.... or see the ball carrier in the first half and Urban Meyer for playing an obviously hurt Braxton Miller.
January 4th, 2014 at 12:57 AM ^
Gameplanning against Ohio was not Borges's problem this season.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:01 AM ^
it was mainly meant as a shot at Borges for giving Heiko crap about WR screens in just about every press conference

which hasn't exactly been the norm around here lately.
The relationship between Heiko and Borges has been the highlight of the main page these last two years, and I'm going to miss it.

I thought that Urban Meyer was going to win the national title this year. What happened?
January 4th, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
There's a growing number of them who want Braxton Miller to go pro, because he's an athlete who can't throw. Maybe they're so angry they forgot the next quarterback up is Cardale Jones.

While he didn't go there to play school he's not exactly exceptional at football, either.
January 4th, 2014 at 12:59 AM ^
Just the fact that none of them can breathe for a second and think about that makes me laugh.
It would be one thing if Guiton was back...I wouldn't agree, but I could understand. Instead they're talking about a guy who can't throw 1/2 as good as Miller can.
January 4th, 2014 at 9:51 AM ^
Plus he is very nifty in the open field, and bails the Ohio offense out a LOT.
I hate Ohio and would love to see him enter the draft.
January 4th, 2014 at 10:15 AM ^
But you can't laugh at them, remember?
January 4th, 2014 at 1:04 AM ^
Regardless of what Ohio fans want, given that he has 1) a child to support, 2) a history of minor injuries and 3) a totally new OL to play behind next year if he stays, I don't think we'll see him again in the college ranks.

Do you think they stopped making fun of our losses when they had Cooper?
January 4th, 2014 at 12:55 AM ^
I was in Ohio for that and the answer is no.
Still had something to saw when Michigan lost the Rose Bowls.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:01 AM ^
The difference is that when they had Cooper, they often had better teams than we did, just not in that last game. Now, we are fielding signficantly inferior teams overall and our coaches have collectively surpassed Cooper in futility in the rivalry since Tressel was hired (Us: 2-12, Cooper: 2-10-1).
So yeah, tempering the schadenfraude is not a bad idea. At least for the time-being.

I read somewhere that he was seriously thinking about it.

January 4th, 2014 at 1:11 AM ^
I think I read somewhere he has a son and the NFL would offer a pretty good income for an athlete of his quality.
January 4th, 2014 at 12:57 AM ^
urban meyer:
24-2 with zero top-15 wins, zero conference titles, zero bowl wins, zero national titles.
At least they have those SWEET 12-0 bowl ban shirtz.

But he could be an NFL RB, IMO.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:02 AM ^
so he may go for the pay day to support his family. I think he is better than Pryor, who is collecting nice checks each week. I can't stand OSU fans but respect the effort Miller put forth tonight. He has no receivers and has to score 40+ points vs decent teams because their secondary was awful. Urban should have played Guiton more... and also used his timeouts.
If any OSU fans bitch about Miller, next year should be interesting without him.

I wouldn't say they have no receivers. Their passing game looked great when Guiton played earlier this season. Miller just isn't that good at reading defenses. He was 6-15 against us.

Miller is not as good as Pryor. We'll compare Pryor's junior year to Millers
Miller had these stats this year: 1860 yards, 63% completion, 8 YPA , 24 tds, 7 int, QBR 157.
Pryor had these his junior year: 2772 yards, 65% completion, 8.6 YPA, 27 tds, 11 int, QBR 158
Miller did have better rushing stats by 300 yards in comparison. But the NFL isn't looking at who has better rushing stats, especially not when one guy threw for 1000 more yards at a better completion percentage and YPA. So Miller isn't far off of Pryor, but he's not even as good as Pryor and most believe he shouldn't have been taken before the 4th round.
This is not even getting into the fact that he can't throw a deep ball.
January 4th, 2014 at 2:31 AM ^
Mi always personally felt that Kenny G was the better option for ohio. He never had quite the athleticism or big play ability of miller but the guy took less sacks an seemed to make smarter decisions with the ball. If tressell was still there Kenny G would have been an ideal conservative qb for his style. Very underutilized IMO.
January 4th, 2014 at 8:42 AM ^
Understandable but that doesn't change the fact that he can't throw the deep ball, he has bad decision making skills, and he is just not a very good passer at all. It doesn't take much to watch him play and see that he's just not NFL material as a QB. If he had played in more games, his accuracy probably would have went down if anything.
January 4th, 2014 at 7:42 AM ^
If you look at what he had around him, especially at receiver, Miller was at least as good a college QB (Miller was injured too so he didn't play as much). My point was if Pryor is playing weekly albeit on a crappy NFL team, MIller has to think he has a legit shot to make some good cash for his family. Whether he is another NFL Denard is totally a fair question but I've come to the conclusion that even the draft experts get it wrong when it comes to NFL QB success.
January 4th, 2014 at 8:27 AM ^
Pryor did lose his job to Matt McGloin, though. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
I don't see the Denard comparison at all--in fact I can hardly think of an athlete that reminds me less of Miller. Completely different body types and skill sets.
January 4th, 2014 at 8:40 AM ^
Look at any mock draft. They all have the Raiders taking a QB in the top 10. Why? Because Pryor isn't good enough. People also agree he shouldn't have been taken in the 3rd round. With them all knowing that, I highly doubt they take Braxton higher than the 3rd round. I'd bet on the 4th if he goes this year.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:02 AM ^
I don't care if we're 0-12. Does it really matter if we make fun of them or not? They are Ohio and we are in the greatest rivalry in sports. I'm going to take every chance I can get to make fun of them.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:18 AM ^
Not just that - they all have thought for the past two years that they're the best team in the country, and that they would take care of Alabama easily (when Alabama was undefeated and thought to be going to the Nat'l Championship). They've lost two, and almost three, in a row, and they're incredulous. A team like that deserves some grief. A lot of grief.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:28 AM ^
just say the same thing about 10 posts up? I get it--you get schadenfreude from OSU's losses. Seems a tad shallow to me.
January 4th, 2014 at 1:04 AM ^
I just scanned through it. Wonderful stuff.
This on Braxton Miller:
"Well it depends on what you mean by "get much better". If you are evaluating his abilities now vs when he was a baby, then yes. If you compare his ability now vs his sophomore year, no, because he still sucks. Can't teach smart." Really? I'll bet he would've been the greatest QB in Buckeye history had they scored on that last drive.
This:
"If Meyer will make no one accountable for this defense, then he is accountable." First sign of trouble?
Does this sound familiar to anybody around here? To think a month they were all shouting "24-0" and everything was wonderful. Now this:
I will pose a question to the board. What will it take to change the attitude and culture of this defense? Is it just about players or does it start with coaching?
It seems like there is good talent out there, but the performance has been lacking, especially over the last 4-5 games. I don't get it??
Welcome back to reality Buckaroos!

So next year they might lose Hyde, Miller, and their entire offensive line? Does Corey Brown leave too?

Brown is a senior.
