Semi OT: (Speculation Thread) How NFL Coaching Carousel Could Affect College (and Michigan)
With the success of Chip Kelly, a number of college coaches are rumored for NFL jobs. And even if just 1-2 jump for the NFL, it could still send a domino effect throughout the college ranks and causes 5-6 guys to move around.
At Michigan we've been rumored to have anywhere from 0-3 spots left, doesn't seem like anyone knows or can get get any confirmation. HOWEVA, plenty of prospects may become an option with the moves.
Bill O'Brien is rumored to the Texas which would put PSU's class into question
...if O'Brien goes to the NFL, Al Golden is the name mentioned in the PSU circles. This would put Miami's class into question.
Charlie Strong would be an obvious perfect fit in Miami. He's also a finalist for the Texas job.
So the Louisville class gets tossed in there.
...not sure who Louisville would hire.
Other potential changes...
Vanderbilt - James Franklin to Texas
Florida St - Jimbo Fisher to Texas (Fisher just signed a huge extension)
Baylor - Art Briles to Texas (I know Briles signed an extension, but Texas would pay the buyout)
Notre Dame - Brian Kelly to Detroit Lions
Texas A&M - Kevin Sumlin to Washington Redskins ( know Sumlin signed an extension, but the Redskins would pay the buyout)
(then of course the carousel would continue with the 2nd level of guys who would replace these guys)
Anyway...here's a thread to keep track of the rumors for today.

Yeah, but I still think he's staying at FSU. He has that program at near-Alabama levels in terms of simply reloading (without the benefit of oversigning) and has Winston for at least one more year. Now is a bad time to take another job. Three or four years from now if the Texas hire doesn't turn things around, he might be willing to take a look.

is just like Florida State in relation to Texas in football?

I feel like Sumlin just signed a huge extension as well...

Belichek? The guy who runs that bakery at the corner of 8th and Main? That's too bad. The dude makes some excellent pumpkin rolls.

We finally got an Einstein's by work, so I am currently eating my weight in bagels.
December 31st, 2013 at 10:26 AM ^
That unfortunate, although on the positive side, think of how much weight you'd gain if you had good bagels near your office.

Nick Saban to Louisville.
December 31st, 2013 at 9:47 AM ^
Saban can constantly show up on TVs in Ohio, and that would accelerate some people's "health" problems.

I don't think Pontiac High School would hire Borges much less Hell or any D1 program.

These "allegations", were the so-called "hookers" murdered in masse in a cocaine-driven hooker-murder-mayhem #cdhmm or was this a long drawn out "No Country for Old Men"-syle serial murder type hooker slaying? Just Curious.

In all seriousness, I think Narduzzi would want the Louisville job and might be a serious candidate (sort of similar resume to Strong). So maybe you should just stick to #Strong4TexasThenNarduzzi4Louisville

Didn't Art Briles sign an extension at Baylor which would take him well into the 2020s? I believe it was for $3.5 million per year or something along those lines. I also think he signed it in early November, which to me means that the likelihood of staying at Baylor for the foreseeable future is rather high. Not sure what the buyout number was on Briles' contract, but the full value of the contract would be pretty high, I would assume.

I have heard rumors that big time athletic boosters at Michigan are wanting Hoke fired. Some have gauged the interest in John Harbaugh and he may be interested in the job if Hoke was fired.

Isn't so much a "source" as he is a "raging bloviating teenager with a superiority complex and a penchant for douchery, but without any information regarding facts or things that are true."
So yeah, it's not real.

I thought Brian commented a while back that people have found out who "Williams" really is. If that's the case, it's time to out that little shit. Name, and what city he lives in.
December 31st, 2013 at 11:32 AM ^
Brian posted a while back that Ace had signed up for an account on this site with an email that led back to a metro Detroit high schooler. But currently there's nothing for people without access to account information on this site.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Hoke pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

also set up an intricate recording to make it seem like he's lying sick in bed

I heard that Hoke's sister is really pissed and plans on exposing his intricate scheme as the ploy that it is....

I concocted that in my garage last night with a couple buddies while playing cards. Wait...do we know each other?!

Hmmmmm, so DB would have to fire Hoke just to make Harbaugh listen to the possibility of coming to Ann Arbor? Yeah, that rumor sounds legit. GTFO with this stuff. Harbaugh wouldn't do his alma mater like that and DB wouldn't be stupid enough to leave the team coachless on the off chance Jim Harbaugh gets nostalgic. Try again Ace.
December 31st, 2013 at 10:51 AM ^
it's John Harbaugh we're talking about here. Not even Ace is dumb enough to think Jim would leave the Bay.
December 31st, 2013 at 10:54 AM ^
maybe Ray Lewis can be his recruiting coordinator...can you imagine him sitting in a recruit's living room???
I am not believing this rumor...just playing along with it

Player Parent: "That's nice".
December 31st, 2013 at 10:57 AM ^
Harbaugh signed a new four-year contract with the Ravens at the beginning of the season that reportedly pays him $7 million/year, but you apparently think that he's going to give that up for less money in Ann Arbor.
December 31st, 2013 at 11:48 AM ^
December 31st, 2013 at 12:03 PM ^
My point wasn't just that he signed a contract—although you can argue that signing an extension of that length indicates he's pretty happy in Baltimore—but that he's getting paid more money than is going to be available at Michigan.
