Ohio State Visitor List
There are several lists circulating around out there so I decided to reach out to as many prospects as I could to confirm either that they will be in attendance or that they won’t be. Every name below I have personally confirmed their presence or absence. These lists are of course always quite fluid and even from places like Rivals or 247 there are constantly changes. I will post updates as the week progresses.

Obviously the list will change and it has the potential to include notable commits such as George Campbell and Damien Harris. Coveted targets Malik McDowell, Jashon Cornell, Mike Weber, and Tyrone Wheatley Jr. have been reported as potential visitors, among others as well. This game will forever bring talent into the the stadium and this weekend is no different.

Why would they invite any commits or recruits to watch this game. Can't we just pretend it's not happening.
November 25th, 2013 at 8:54 PM ^
Agree... we may witness a flurry of decommits. Sort of like last February's commit-a-palooza only in reverse.

After over-reacting, I urge others not to over-react, as well. I think this may fit the bill.
However, I am very afraid we won't play well, will get in a big hole, and the fans -- our fans -- will boo our team loudly in front of the players and all these recruits. I'm afraid that is a very real possibility. And that could have consequences.

Fortunately, there may be enough OSU fans there cheering to drown out the booing.

IMO most of the 2014s have their heart set on UM and in their mind have been Michigan recruits and identify themselves with the school now, so whatever happens happens. Maybe there is 1 or 2 decommits but that happens most any year.
Where the real damage is, is in 2015 and 2016. The selling point for this staff is RR era was an exception, we are turning this thing around - and you saw what we did in 2011, and 2012 can be explained away by playing the top 3 ranked teams etc. But this year was a major regression - not so much in record but what is happening on the field.
There is no way to calculate what the damage is for 2015 and 2016. Which recruits don't give UM a chance at all, which recruits would have put them on their top 10 list giving Hoke a chance to pitch the team, and which would have committed if the team looked like a viable football team rather than a sandlot offense.
That said I really don't see any excuse for the staff even if they lose out on 4-5 targets. We are not currently asking for an Alabama brand of football here - which is where losing out on player #42 and settling for player #287 may matter. We are asking for a functional product on offense. You can do that with classes in the 50s or 60s. Wisconsin and MSU recruit in the 30s most every year (if not 40s) and Stanford has a lot of years in the same area. Those are league championship level teams. There is no excuse even if you are recruiting in the 20s not to have a viable well run team that can challenge for a league title - none. You see that in EL, Madison, and Palo Alto. If this staff can only create a good looking football team with top 10 classes every year than its a very average staff.

Considering tickets are getting offered for $80, I'm predicting less than "electric":

$150 for a game down in Columbus in 1998, never thought I'd ever pay less
November 25th, 2013 at 10:19 PM ^
A win in this game and in the bowl game would change the trajectory of this year and next. A win in this game would be similar to what Tressel did when he came into Ann Arbor in his first year to beat a higher ranked Michigan team.
LETS WIN THIS THING AND FIRE THIS RIVALRY BACK UP! A WIN CHANGES EVERYTHING! GO BLUE!

It's only depressing if they are right. If our team comes out fired up, plays their asses off and makes it a great, close game, then win or lose it is not depressing.
What would be depressing is if we come out completely flat, get run off the field and our home stadium is filled with boos.

Peppers not on either list. Unforgiveable.
Seriously though when is his state championship game? Was really hoping he'd put the press on some guys this weekend, namely Cornell.

Paramus Catholic’s Jabrill Peppers and Juwan Bushell-Beatty play against St . Peter’s Prep at 8:00 PM Friday at MetLife Stadium in a New Jersey State High School playoff game. It would be unfair to expect them to make it to Ann Arbor for the Ohio State game, because the only flight they could take to make it to Ann Arbor in time for the game leaves from Newark at 7:40 Saturday morning.
Considering that (a) they are coming off their school's first win ever against Don Bosco Prep in last week's playoff game, (b) they'd probably want to be celebrating with their high school teammates if they win on Friday night, and (c) other than it being a "rivalry game" in which Ohio State has won 11 of the past 15 games and is expected to win by a substantial margin on Saturday, there probably isn't any reason for them to be at The Big House on Saturday.
Of course, if Michigan pulls off an upset that might be compared to what happened at The Big House on September 1, 2007, then they'll probably be upset that they missed having to share in THAT celebration.

How in the world did a scarlet and grey ANYTHING make it on t he front page? You should even change that top picture to black and white so it's not scarlet and grey. I know 95% of the blog has already declared defeat but come on man...
November 26th, 2013 at 11:38 AM ^
turns out when you lift images from the internet you like need to still pay attention to your audience.
November 25th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
Sure it took a while to contact all of those guys.
November 25th, 2013 at 9:47 PM ^
The less that come the better.
November 26th, 2013 at 9:15 AM ^
Are you talking about Michigan fans?
If so, did you attend the University of Michigan?
November 26th, 2013 at 11:15 AM ^
I'm talking about recruits and visitors, as that is what this post is about. I don't want them to see Urban Meyer screaming at his third-string offense to push their final score to 42 points.
As for Michigan fans, it's just the opposite. Anyone who sells a ticket to an OSU fan is a scumbag.
And yes, I went to U of M and sat every goddamned game in the stands as a student while RR crashed the plane into the 3-9 mountain. I've seen plenty of crap football in the Big House and I'm apathetic by now.

November 25th, 2013 at 11:15 PM ^
Is he on any lists? Thanks
November 25th, 2013 at 11:19 PM ^
247 has him on the visitor list but I was unable to confirm if he'd be there or not. I mentioned him in the last little paragraph that he is supposed to be in attendance but I, personally, wasn't able to find that out.
November 25th, 2013 at 11:49 PM ^
...the fact you haven't been in contact with him is not a good sign for our chances.
November 26th, 2013 at 11:16 AM ^
same with crawford. i'd consider him a soft commit at this point.

good thing that you logged in here and clicked on the thread to inform all of us that the post wasd too long for you, that you didn't bother to read it and that you don't want recruits to attend our biggest rivalry game.
November 26th, 2013 at 1:04 AM ^
Thanks for the work.
Looks like Weber and Cole are going to MSU Nov 4 for a MSU practice and then the MSU bball game vs UNC. Cole sure has an interesting list of teams as supposed leaders, 2 fallen giants (Tenn and UM) and MSU. Weber supposedly is close to making up his mind. I cannot tell how hard UM is recruiting him at this point, but not confirmed for this game makes me think if he is close to committing and not going to the game, he won't be a Wolverine.
As for Malik if he does not bother to go this game if Cass Tech is not playing, makes me think he is SEC bound. You'd think even if he is going to OSU he'd bother.
November 26th, 2013 at 3:25 AM ^
...Malik doesn't play for Cass? And he isn't going to Ohio State. My guess would be LSU.
November 26th, 2013 at 6:40 AM ^
Sorry, meant Southfield. Dont follow preps that close so not sure if they are even alive in playoffs.
November 26th, 2013 at 9:38 AM ^
Southfield is out of it. I believe they lost in the first round.

some of you guys are bigger dissappointments than Al Borges.
Don't ever, ever, ever, act like a recruit visiting is a bad thing.

The comment threads in this blog have gotten unbearable, and are really bringing down the quality of the discussion that used to exist here.
People act like we are going to go 3-9 this season. Guess what people? We have 7 wins, with 2 left to play. Do I expect to win this weekend? Sadly, no, but that's why they play the games. I do, however, think that with those 16 practices to work on the young OL and blocking fundamentals (things that are tough to address during the season), we will win our bowl game, regardless of who we face (obviously, we are not going to be facing to best of the best in whatever bowl we end up in). So we are looking at an 8-win season. For a team starting perhaps the youngest, most inexperienced OL in D1, in its first season running a new offense, with a first-year starting QB who was playing WR for more than half of last season, that is thin at key pieces of its offense such as TE and receiver (Gallon, converted TE Funchess and a bunch of "just a guy"s), and which as 62 freshmen and sophs on its roster, our 7-8 wins is not all that bad. Also, while the offense is struggling, our defense - almost all of which returns next year and many for the next 2 - is top 20.

When you lift images from the internet, you might want to make sure they didn't come from http://buckeyefansonly.com/thegame.html so that you won't have Ohio colors up on the main page of a Michigan blog.
