What it looks like to touch the banner
Backup QB Alex Swieca wore Google Glass while the team ran onto the field on Saturday. Here's a link to the short video... pretty damn cool:

That's an interesting point to ponder, actually.
I wonder what Hoke would say about this being done and made available?
One the one hand it's relatively harmless ... it's not like this was a secret recording of a pre-game strategy session, or a recording of something that would embarrass the university and the program.
On the other hand it could be argued that the experience of running under the banner is reserved for those who have earned the right to be part of the MIchigan team. Swieca has; but your average viewer hasn't.
Then again ... potential recruits may see this and think, "Damn ... I want to do that!"
Bottom line ... I'm glad I'm not a head coach and have to think about all the pros and cons of all this stuff. :-)

Eh. I'm guessing watching someone touch the banner via video is slightly different than actually running up to and touching the banner in person with 115,000 cheering for you. Not a huge deal in my opinion and actually pretty cool.

Dude it's like the 8th string QB...who gives a shit what Bo would have done?
It's something cool -- take it for what it is and move on.

Haven't you heard? Anything that is different from the way things were done in 1970 is an affront to Michigan tradition and an assault on our core values!
Either that, or some people just worry about dumb things.
If Bo were alive today and giving his opinion on things he probably would be taking a dim view on fan blogs, recruiting websites, and 8:00 PM start times, but that hasn't stopped us from finding value and enjoynig those things.

That's awesome!

Awesome. You know, after the treatment Stephen Ross got, I've been thinking about donating a couple hundred milion myself. Anyone got $199,999,990 I can borrow?

Does Swieca have his head cocked to the left pretty much the whole time? Or is google glass just a bit wonky?

Have you ever tried to wear glasses under a helmet? I have, it is not easy to get/keep them straight, and these are not like rec specs with a good band to hold them in place.

That's pretty cool, and it probably comes as close as possible (without playing for Michigan) to answering a question that many of us who have never played on that field probably had. Thanks for sharing that!

Can we get a pair for every player please? I would like to be able to PIP these on playback.
It's getting pretty awesome.

That is sweet. I think BTN followed the Maize and Blue out for the Central Game. But they didn't jump up and touch it or anything.

Now the NSA knows what it's like to jump up and touch the banner.

Oh, they already know. They already know.

They did this a few years ago too. Last time it was a walk-on o-lineman (I want to sway Gunderson but I'm not sure) who wore a helmet cam during the run out of the tunnel.

Awesome - but I wish the video had gone on a bit longer...

Actually, Bo would have everyone on the team wearing the Google Glass. He would have some student manager download and edit all the footages real time, and send them to the Big 10 office during half time to protest missed penalties.

Have you ever watched the first person POV videos of the rides at Cedar Point? Watching a video does not equal the experience of actually doing it, but it sure as hell makes you want to try it yourself. I think that is the point of this recording.
