Beginning of Off Topic Season POSBANG Thread! [Winners Announced!]
As most of you know, the off topic season is reserved for "after football season" on MGoBlog. After some confusion about whether football season ended after The Game, or whether it ends after the Outback Bowl, I emailed Brian and got a response saying that off topic is now fine. Before we get to the posbanging, I do have a refresher for everyone who has been around off topic season before, and news for all the new members.
- An off topic post is anything other than: Michigan athletics, scheduled opponents or Big Ten sports, the blog itself and University of Michigan topics. The gray area is NCAA sports in general and Ann Arbor topics. None of these require an "OT:" tag, and titles may be edited as needed; please keep titles and tags as clear as possible.
- Threads about any of the following are likely to be deleted and may result in Bolivia/bans: politics, religion, Drew Sharp, Mike Valenti, Ace Williams. Tread very carefully with Bleacher Report. If in doubt, it's probably not a good post.
- On topic season may still go back into effect before fall, but there will be an update posted before that happens.
profitgoblue and I are offering a 100 point prize to the funniest user-created comment in this thread. Extra consideration goes to new content, funny .gifs videos, and especially mspaint/photoshopping, but we reserve all rights to determine a winner in our sole discretion and all rights to send people who post inappropriate items to Bolivia for the holidays. (You may be asking yourself at this point whether Kate Upton pics/gifs inappropriate . . . you will likely soon find out!) The prize will be decided by the two of us with plenty of crowd input, [ed] and will be up for grabs throughout the afternoon.
The winner of the 100 point prize is...BlueReign, for his mortar gif (according to profit) and his rhino gif (my pick). Enjoy the 167% point bump. ChopBlock gets 50 points as a runner up for his original photoshop. Honorable mention goes to WisconsinWolverine, but profit and I felt he was already a winner for this post yesterday.

WOO OT IS BACK.

Kate upton photos are so sexy I'm surprised they aren't banned in all 49 states.

It'd be kinda like how it feels when the rich guy wins the lottery. What a dick for playing.
But I'll take a HT for remembering Brian started OT after OSU last year.
Actually, nevermind. The simple joy of OT being back will be enough. I love me some OT. It's teh only thing that makes the end of the season not seem as bad. It's like getting one more present the day after Christmas.

There are 91 Upton posts. I didnt want to get the number wrong so I went and counted them again.
Slowly.

from MGoUser Nosce Te Ipsum alone (I did a Ctrl-F for his user name and got 88 finds). Either that is the mother of all computer glitches or he is one seriously dedicated Upton fan. It's most impressive because his 88 were all done uninterrupted by anyone else replying to the thread and jumping in the middle, so I'm leaning towards computer glitch, but still, damn. What a fortunate error.
<EDIT>: It look like the mods have swept through and deleted most of the redundant Upton posts, sniff sniff :-( so it is possible my count of 88 came after they had started the deletion process and 91 was indeed the amount it started at before deletion.

Glorious.

finished........Did I miss anything while I was scrolling through the upton double posts?

Apparently posting all those Upton gifs (the mother of all fortunate computer glitches?) wound up in getting Nosce Te Ipsum sent to Bolivia. I hope his voyage is a short one and not a permanent trip there, he's usually a pretty quality poster.
December 12th, 2012 at 1:16 PM ^
Just a quick in-and-out trip. His visa expires in less than an hour.
December 12th, 2012 at 1:24 PM ^
that its a short trip. I think his post sets a new MGoBlog record for redundant posts, no?
December 12th, 2012 at 1:40 PM ^
NTI is fine with a quick in-and-out involving Kate Upton...

This thread confuses me.

So, are questions about Detroit verboten? I'm curious from locals in the Detroit area about what is happening. It sometimes is difficult to tell with the spin put on things in MSM. Is the city descending into the heart of darkness, or is that media overkill? Is anarchy truly the way of the future? Can any of the politicians, State or City or County, make things work again?
December 12th, 2012 at 1:51 PM ^
But if there's news that seems somewhat relevant to our purpose here, go for it. There was a thread (last week?) that discussed a new Red Wings arena and the Ilitch's construction plans that got some good public policy discussion without any real problems. I like stuff like that, but a "What's up with Detroit: Open Thread" would be a complete disaster.
December 12th, 2012 at 4:02 PM ^
...descending into the hearf of darkness? The politics may be messed up but there is plenty good happening at a grassroots level. A short video Retooling the Motor City.

According to the Telegraph, Victoria Aitken, daughter of former Cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken, has immortalized Ms. Upton's "curvaceous body" in a dance track.

We need a mandate that NSFW posts are labeled as such, and then about 15 empty lines are inserted before the said NSFW material. Too many close calls with these Kate Upton gifs at work. That being said, MOAR!!!
December 12th, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
What started out as an arguably SFW thread quickly went downhill. Proper label now attached.
December 12th, 2012 at 1:49 PM ^
looks a lot different with all 80+ of the redundant Kate Upton posts deleted out, not to mention some of the earlier posts commenting on the massive quantity of Upton look a little silly now. I feel sorry for the latecomers to the thread that missed it in all of its bouncy glory as they scrolled through the gifs.
December 12th, 2012 at 1:55 PM ^
I can appreciate what some people were getting out of it (lol), but I felt like it was deterring future comments due to space and bandwith and work concerns for a lot of people. They're not causing a problem one or two at a time, but I felt like the other users in the thread would be best served without eighty of them in a row.
December 12th, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
I wanted to see all that Upton. It's a real handicap living in the Central Time Zone. How about a one hour blog delay to help us out?
December 12th, 2012 at 2:03 PM ^
it was just there like ninety times in a row, instead of two or three times seperated by comments.
December 12th, 2012 at 1:52 PM ^
Now that it is here, I can't remember what I wanted to say.
December 12th, 2012 at 2:08 PM ^
Believe it or not, there are still people out there that haven't seen this yet:

I used to be one of them. I'm still not sure what the hell I just saw.
