Bowl Game Predictions and other interesting tidbits
A panel from SI does its best to predict the outcome of the season along with other areas of interest. If anything it's a good read and might bring about some debate.

Andy and Lars are morans.

Originally had us in the Rose bowl in the preseason predictions, now has Wisconsin instead. I wonder why he changed his mind.
October 17th, 2012 at 4:07 PM ^
True, but are they morons?
October 17th, 2012 at 5:06 PM ^
Funny... you call them morons and yet you don't know how to spell the word. Moron is a term once used in psychology to denote mild mental retardation. I don't know what "moran" means but I believe the word refers to an old, old wooden ship.

I like reading these type of articles just to get a feel for what everyone outside the MGoBlog community thinks of not only Michigan, but other teams in the national landscape. I do have to laugh though at how one guy says Alabama will definitely lose one game this season, and then the very next guy says Alabama will win every game on it's schedule by at least 14 points.

Please no USC. I hate playing USC in the Rose Bowl. Home field advantage and that awful fight song.
October 17th, 2012 at 3:54 PM ^
I'd like to see Michigan play Oregon State in that game. USC wouldn't be too bad, but I really don't want to see Oregon in that game. That offense scares me, even with Mattison drawing up a gameplan.

It is better to play USC over Oregon because that gives us a better shot at winning.
I'm sorry, but I just see Oregon's absolutely destroying Michigan and I really don't want to deal with that.
October 18th, 2012 at 10:16 AM ^
I think you'd want to play USC. Their offense is not nearly as hot as everyone predicted they would be, and their defense is short on depth. IMO you would win going away.

I love me some Mike Riley but playing Oregon State in the Rose Bowl would be a yawner.
October 17th, 2012 at 3:52 PM ^
I just want to go to the Rose Bowl desperately... I dont care who its against
October 17th, 2012 at 4:09 PM ^
I do. While I think Oregon will be in the title game, I don't want any part of that team. I'm fine with playing USC.
October 17th, 2012 at 6:13 PM ^
assuming we make it to Pasadena. I think we match up best with those teams more so than Oregon or USC

It's not a virtual home game for them. It is a real home game, in fact.
October 17th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
USC plays in Memorial Coliseum. UCLA plays in the Rose Bowl.
October 17th, 2012 at 9:06 PM ^
Well, sir... I happen to know that it isn't their stadium.
If USC comes to Detroit and plays us in the Ford Field, I will call it a home game, no matter how you spin it.
October 17th, 2012 at 10:27 PM ^
You can call it a home game, but that doesn't make it a home game.

Michigan is only going to the Rose Bowl because Ohio State is ineligible.

It pretty much looks like a foregone conclusion that Notre Dame will make it to a BCS bowl. Very disappointing. I'm still thinking that they'll lose two games (at OU and at USC). Maybe BYU will sneak up and beat them this week. They're most likely BCS bound with two losses. With three losses....not so much.

To the tenths place? That's a little much.
October 18th, 2012 at 8:42 PM ^
How the hell is it flamebait to point out the silliness of putting a tenths place in a chart as uncertain as this one? Are there people out there who actually think this sort of prediction can be that accurate? Sheesh.

I like the matchup with Oregon St. I think we matchup well with them. USC isnt as intimidating as people think. i think we could handle them. Oregon is the only team in the Pac-12 that scares the crap outta me
October 17th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
I know they're clearly not as good as everyone expected and are a team we'd have a darn good shot at beating, but I still have nightmares about USC. I'd rather not play them in the Rose Bowl either...

That was me. I'm trying to save the content of the thread without unpublishing the whole thing. It got a little out of hand and was a little too personal for one unexpecting MGoUser. Its not fair to him to have the discussion live for eternity so I axed it. Sorry for the confusion.

Oregon State's remaining schedule
Utah
@ Washington
ASU
@ Stanford
Cal
Oregon
Notice no USC on the schedule. If OSU's only lose is to Oregon in the Civil War, I don't see how OSU does not make the Rose Bowl (assuming Oregon wins out).

Nice to see Michigan thought of so well at SI. I'm really looking forward to every single game from here on out. After this Saturday, I'll feel a lot better in predicting the rest of the season. If we beat MSU convincingly with our defense keeping them from running between the tackles, and if our offense can move on their defense, I could then see us legitimately winning out every game in the regular season.
I really haven't seen what in Wisconsin would cause some to favor them, but I can't see losing to the Badgers.
While it will be great to go back to the Rose Bowl, I don't know how well we stack up . . . yet. Stanford, USC, Oregon, and Oregon State all seem like very good teams. I still think it will be at least another year, if not two, before Michigan is clicking on all cylinders.
