What are you drinking for Opening Night?

Submitted by Blazefire on

So, it is opening night. We're all going to watch South Carolina despite nobody giving a crap about South Carolina. This is supposed to involve BOOZE!, which I have selected as a user tag. What will be yoru BOOZE! of choice?

They had Dogfish Head Midas Touch on sale for $9.99 at the local store, which is actually a shockingly good price for the nectar that is Midas Touch. So good. Also, it packs a punch if your lucnh was an orange. WHOO!

I'll be drinking homebrew now, but the real question is what will I be drinking mid-season.  I'm teaching a Bama fan to brew. Since we'll be brewing the next several batches together we've got a bet going. Loser buys custom bottle caps. We'll be drinking either M Go Brew or Bama Brew.

For bama it is Lindemans Kriek and jager bombs.

For tonight, 3 olives cake vodka and pineapple soda

For tomorrow blueberry cider(GO BSU?).  I really should root for the B1G but alas, read too many spartan trolls this offseason.

Though it is not yet September, I just bought a sixer each of Spaten, Hofbrau, and Hacker-Pschorr.  Sweet Munich oblivion.

Technically Ayinger isn't a Munich beer in that it isn't brewed within the city limits (Spaten, Lowenbrau, Hofbrau, Hackerpschorr, Augustiner and Paulaner).  We did enjoy Ayinger @ Wirsthaus Munich across from Hofbrauhaus.

Drinking a Flying Dog SingleHop Chinook IPA after crabcakes and softshell crab (on the company, recruiting dinner) washed down with a couple of chardonays.  ABV is 10% on the Flying Dog.

Ok, like more hop.

I plan to crack open some Hams Light in the mid morning and kill the 24 pack of it

EDIT: Oops, I was thinking we were talking about Saturday for some reason.  As for tonight, I am drinking some Miller High Life Light

In celebration of college football kicking off tonight I've decided to clean the bong. Shots of really old bong water and PBR are whats going down at my shack.

But probably just two. Need to workout and get a few things done first. Thinking about a mix of Texas and Michigan beer for the big game on Sat. Can't wait.

Cashed a bottle of 2 buck Chuck over dinner I made for the mother-in-law, as she picked the kids up for the weekend.  Now cleaning out some scraps from the fridge which includes some Arcadia Loch Down Scotch Ale (it will knock you down after a couple), Bell's Solsun (no, it's actually Oberon, but I'm old), and some #9.

I'm hoping I can still get up and start calling Delta at 4:25am, to try and get on earlier flights to Dallas, as I don't want to wait until our 7:30pm flight.

Short's Pandemonium Pale Ale for now. I might switch to something harder in a bit, but I have to get up at 6:00 for work, so we'll see if that happens.

Starting out with a local scotch ale from Tyrannena Brewery called Rocky's Revenge and then finishing the night by sipping a Laphroaig.....at least that is what I wish.  Just drinking whatever drain cleaner I can find in the back of the cabinet and saving my coin for an awesome day on Saturday.

Have a few left over, then I'll start on the case I picked up tonight....Troegs Perpetual IPA. I've never had it before but I'm a big fan of the other Troegs brews that I've tried.

Sam Adams Octoberfest on special for $3 so had one of those with dinner and will probably crack a Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale in a bit while watching this game and working on this stupid brief.

P.S. I'm hoping that New Belgium coming to Michigan open's the proverbial door for other breweries from Colorado (<cough> Oskar Blues <cough>) to come in as well, but frankly the beer from New Belgium bores the hell out of me.  Ranger is a nice IPA for the summer months, but I can take or leave the rest of it (and I'll leave the Fat Tire).
