Could Jeremy Clark play CB?
January 31st, 2012 at 2:28 PM ^
Having a 6'4 corner would be nice. I would say hes better suited for safety, but you never know.

Had a great season for the hawks, and his height was a big factor. He was even a pro-bowler. if clark can develop the technique and has the speed, he can be a gamechanger at cornerback.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:14 PM ^
Damn never knew he was a pro bowler....he must bowl 300s with ease
January 31st, 2012 at 4:28 PM ^
Wow, I never knew there was a 6'4 CB in the NFL, let alone a good one.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:29 PM ^
6'4" WR?
Either way, I'm sure he'll be redshirted and in that year he'll have the opportunity to prove himself at SS, FS, CB, or WR.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:32 PM ^
I'm sure the coaches will do a fine job placing him where he can contribute the most. He will get his shot. I could definitely see him playing WR at some point. Speed and height is always a great combo. Is the kid raw? Haven't really had the time to look over his videos.
January 31st, 2012 at 6:04 PM ^
After seeing Ray Vinopal and Desmond Morgan start, I think everyone needs to get out of the business of predicting redshirts for non-lineman. Nobody knows.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:31 PM ^
how about we let the coaches figure out who plays what...?
January 31st, 2012 at 2:35 PM ^
If you aren't willing to discuss things that you can't control. Must not have participated much in class back in the day either.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
and I did...
Unfortunately, the board is rife with inane posts these last few days prior to the NSD - I've come to expect much more from the MGoFaithful than this, but such is life, Space Coyote.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
I actually think a lot of the fun in participating in a football blog is guessing at what's going to happen in the future. I know I talk about it all the time with my friends. I don't see why it would be a problem to do it on mgoblog too.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:35 PM ^
I guess I am on the wrong blog
I thought this was the obsessed fan's blog...but it appears it is the rational coaches blog
sorry everyone
January 31st, 2012 at 2:42 PM ^
Agreed, threads like this clutter the board and make it harder to find threads enumerating how Urban Liar is bringing the SEC to the B1G.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:54 PM ^
I'd much rather read about how Tressel was a B+ compared to Urban's A+ and we should most likely explore our options in the MAC, since we'll never beat his A+ coaching and his handful of recruits he beat us out on this year.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:02 PM ^
He's the only one who I'd say Urban has won, and still that has a lot of confounding factors.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:07 PM ^
all you circus animals are wrong. im waiting for another thread by big house 500.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:20 PM ^
Was he also the guy who at one point said he was going into the military and then when someone (me)asked him about it he said he failed the testing. Was that 500th or another joker?
January 31st, 2012 at 3:56 PM ^
He was making fun of the hysteria.
January 31st, 2012 at 4:02 PM ^
fun of the panic mongerers too.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:34 PM ^
so how long till the clark to te talk starts? I mean he is over 6'3 and athletic.....
January 31st, 2012 at 3:24 PM ^
lol I was going to say the same thing, you beat me to it
January 31st, 2012 at 2:35 PM ^
quick answer: no
long answer: he's not fast enough and isn't very fluid in the hips. no.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
It's been a long time sense I watched any video on Clark, but based on the fact that he is 6'4" alone makes it very difficult to have the hips and footwork needed for the corner position. To me, he is either a safety or WR or if he packs on bunch weight, then a LB.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:43 PM ^
Perhaps not, but can he play center?
January 31st, 2012 at 2:47 PM ^
has anyone heard about breading?

January 31st, 2012 at 2:50 PM ^
But my cat was to busy to just Loaf around.
January 31st, 2012 at 2:54 PM ^
Ha! Right on.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:08 PM ^
Because the cat is inbread.

You certainly do have a rye sense of humor.

Getting Reeves or Wright would have been a nice luxury, but we aren't in a spot where guys need to move to corner. The top three guys from the end of last year (Floyd, Countess, and Avery) are all back and two of them have multiple years of eligibility left. Hollowell and Taylor played on special teams as true freshmen, and Talbott has seen game time. Add another 4-star freshman this year, and there are plenty of options before we get to moving guys who aren't a natural fit for the position.

Any of you guys see the Sugar Bowl? I think Frank Clark can play Corner, if not move him to Tight End.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:24 PM ^
No, didn't catch that game...
January 31st, 2012 at 3:26 PM ^
I heard we were actually moving Frank clark to Center
January 31st, 2012 at 3:35 PM ^
I thought we had tons of centers?
January 31st, 2012 at 3:47 PM ^
Clark should be our punt returner.
January 31st, 2012 at 3:30 PM ^
I was thinking more receiver his film Is pretty good there lacking on the safety part
January 31st, 2012 at 3:35 PM ^
God I hate when my comma and period buttons break...
January 31st, 2012 at 4:01 PM ^
Believe it or not, we don't need people to move to corner!
It'd be great to have another high-level CB but it's a luxury right now. We've got Countess and Floyd next year with a bunch of backups that have an unusual amount of game experience (thanks awful 2009 and 2010 secondaries).
If anything besides S, Clark sounds like a WR. Fast straight line 6-4 guy. But my money is on Clark being a project at S.
January 31st, 2012 at 6:33 PM ^
i don't think it will be necessary. getting reeves would have been great, but floyd's locking down a spot for one more year, countess for 2-3 more, richardson ideally will redshirt and take floyd's spot after he graduates. plus backups and i'm guessing hoke will recruit hard for corners for the 2013 class.
who knows, maybe it could work, but i don't see it as necessary.

At least good ones. Off the top of my head, I can barely think of any that were considered top-level. Only one excellent Michigan corner comes to mind with that kind of size, Lance Dottin, who played around '90, '91 or so. He was a good 6'3" or so and had the build of a safety to boot, but had the requisite make-up speed and hips to play out on the wide corner.
Other than that, the only great big (and great big) CB I ever remember seeing in the NFL was the incomparable Mel Blount, for my money still the greatest all-around CB in history. When they change the rules of the game because you're dominating too much, you're pretty good. He was listed at 6'3".
