Why do they even exist still. I'm pretty sure they are aware by now that everybody knows they have no musical ability whatsoever.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:04 AM ^
They exist because people in general are stupid, and like stupid things. Same goes for Katy Perry, the Beebz, Jerry Springer, realitiy TV, and WWF wrestling.

(Get over it...you're reading a "why Nickelback sucks" thread at work...hey, look, Avatar sized!)

November 2nd, 2011 at 12:50 PM ^
they are still singing about WANTING to be rockstars in thier 9th, yes 9th, album...
kinda sums it up.
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:48 AM ^
I give up.
November 2nd, 2011 at 12:38 PM ^
I will finally be able to say "excuse me while i go take a nickleback" and have it actually apply to something involving the band nickleback.
also thank you portugal!

Someone go put our marketing director into a medical induced coma until Dec 1. Before he realizes they'll be right down the road.
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:45 AM ^
well this would have been good....never
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:47 AM ^
We are officially the most white-trash fan-base in the NFL.
Looks like I'm going to have to buy a Nickelback decal for my '93 Camaro - I'll put it next to my Calvin-pissin-on-Bears decal
November 2nd, 2011 at 12:56 PM ^
It's not the Lions fault - it's the NFL and the United Way that set the halftime performer.
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:47 AM ^
we can't have nice things.
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
Chumbawumba wasn't availalbe
The Lions could really get pumped to play the Packers with some Tubthumping

So no Creed then?
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:52 AM ^
Kid Rock then Nickelback? It's only a matter of time until Bieber
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:51 AM ^
woah, woah, woah. Kid Rock is no musical genius, but how dare you put one of Detroit's own in the same sentence as Nickelback and Bieber. Kid Rock has actually produced some pretty respectable stuff.
November 2nd, 2011 at 12:33 PM ^
while i agree that kid rock > nickelback, it's a pretty meaningless comparison to say kid rock is better than possibly the worst band ever. nickelback : 2008 michigan football :: kid rock : 2009 michigan football. both horrible, one is just epically horrible.
November 2nd, 2011 at 5:49 PM ^
What's with all the hate?
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:53 AM ^
I'm going to complain about Nickelback here too because everyone else seems to be displeased about them and I want to fit in! Rabble rabble.
November 2nd, 2011 at 12:35 PM ^
if you need proof that nickelback is the worst thing to ever happen to music (pre-rebecca black), it exists
November 2nd, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
I'd argue that Phil Collins is right up there. His case, though, is much much worse than Nickelback (IMHE) because he demonstrated himself to be arguably the best drummer of the progressive rock era with Gabriel-era Genesis, and an accomplished writer in his own right (hell, he even got a good track on Selling England). Thus, he had all the brains and ability to make superior forms of music, but deliberately chose to make lowest common denominator shit. For that I may never forgive him.
At least Nickelback are only living up to their very very low potential, and not consciously choosing to make shit when they could otherwise be great.
November 2nd, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
at least he made a positive contribution to music as a drummer. if we're gonna play by the gopherquest rules, then a single win knocks you out of contention for being the worst all time. nickelback has no such blemish on their record of sucking at life.
November 2nd, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
he's going deaf, give him a break. At least, that's where I think Sussudio came from.
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:53 AM ^
I'm going to change the channel during halftime in a blatent effort to lower the ratings of the halftime show. I believe this is the only way to send a message to the networks and record companies that Nickelback's perplexing reign of terror must end.
That and I'll be stuffing appetizers in my mouth and drinking beer.
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:59 AM ^
have a Nielsen box? If not, they won't know how much you hate Nickelback.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:42 AM ^
I'm going to encourage all (five of) my Twitter followers to do the same. It's going to be a movement! One of them has to have a Nielsen box right?
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
Can't Pop Evil do a song for the Lions, too? "In Ford Field," anyone?
November 2nd, 2011 at 10:58 AM ^
Man, this is almost as exciting as '07, when I went to the Thanksgiving game and we got..... The GooGoo Dolls. With all the talent around here, we have to pillage Canada yet again.
If we have to pillage Canada, why are we not getting Bieber?
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:04 AM ^
without Googling, but aren't GGD's from Buffalo? I hate myself for having crap liek this rolling around in my head.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:09 AM ^
No shame, careless wording on my part. I was referring to Nickelback and not GGD
/not an english major or composition expert by any stretch

Nickelback is a Canadian rock band from Hanna, Alberta.

Who gives a shit? Does anyone really watch the Thanksgiving Halftime show? As I said in the Pop Evil thread a while back - it's not like Wilco or Radiohead is gonna show up for the festivities.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
This year... no.
However, for the last 8 years the halftime show was the best part of the game (for Lions' fans anyway)
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:10 AM ^
If you live outside of the home footprint (such as southeast Wyoming), the thanksgiving day game is maybe the only time you'll get to see the Lions on teevee without an internet stream. So even though they have been awful for the last 8 years, I would always watch.
November 2nd, 2011 at 12:38 PM ^
i've had the lions of tv for 4 straight weeks in san diego now. it's been glorious. i haven't seen this many lions games in the past 2 years combined.

jesse mccartney (?) third eye blind, goo goo dolls, mariah carey, enrique iglesias and a very butchlooking john mellencamp.
like everything else NFL, this is a tone deaf, corporate schlock fest and is a good time to go take a dump
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:05 AM ^
Twenty one posts about Nickleback and no one has pointed out the thread title doesn't say "OT"?
Shame.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:07 AM ^
The suckage of Nickelback is always on topic.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:10 AM ^
That's how great the hatred for Nickelback is, it can make even the stingiest of OT-ist not care it's not labeled OT

"I guess Brian won't be posting that day."
Although, to tell the truth, when I finally googled them, because, well, apparently I like them, I didn't see it.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:07 AM ^
hoping some coked out lemurs would perform...
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:09 AM ^
At least they'll be close enough to make a surprise appearance for The Game.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
Now would be an apt time to get an #evacuateFordField hashtag or something trending in Detroit around the time of the game. It could serve to organize a mass exodus to the concourses or bathrooms or what have you.
What would be more vindicating than a completely empty stadium on national television? Besides the obvious...
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:17 AM ^
It's like they're coming back from the dead. Last time I heard something Nickelback-related, they left the stage less than two full songs into a show in 2006. Why? Because the audience was throwing ROCKS at them.
Maybe the octopus tradition can be borrowed from Joe Louis and started at Ford Field...
