Students Petitioning for Jay Z and Kanye Halftime Show During Ohio Game
Saw this on Facebook today and figured I would share it with you guys. Please reassure me that this will never happen.
October 4th, 2011 at 9:23 PM ^
Exactly, it just seems like a jinx
October 4th, 2011 at 10:53 PM ^
I'd rather see Kanye and Jay-Z (I'm a Jigga hater but that's a different story) than listen to the MBB play Lady fucking Gaga. That shit cray! And embarassing. C'mon man!
October 4th, 2011 at 3:04 PM ^
Sure, maybe if the marching band played Jay Z or Kanye songs. But I don't even think a school like Oregon or Penn State would attempt something like this at halftime.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:04 PM ^
Jay-Z or Kanye fan, but this would kind of awesome. It's a good gimmick. Just tell them they'll get to perform in front of 114,000 + people and they have a small interest. This would definitely be the biggest story in sports for a couple months. Everybody would benefit from it. But it would also be a logistical nightmare, and will never happen.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
Just signed. This would be so cool.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
NO. No no no no no. No. No. Worst idea ever.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
So when Kanye/Jay Z don't work out, what group will Brandon actually choose, and pitch it as even better than Kanye/JayZ? And how much will everyone hate it?
October 4th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
It will be awesome, especially when Denard joins in with a "Tick, tock, you don't stop!"
October 4th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
We could rock some fireflys
October 4th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
Do you also like to make yourself believe...that planet Earth...turns...slowly?
October 4th, 2011 at 3:13 PM ^
October 4th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
He's been out scouting possible performers for the Ohio halftime show.
October 5th, 2011 at 10:28 AM ^
He's been lead salesman of Michigan jerseys in ohio. I here he's doing so well that they may promote him to midwest-Michigan-jersey-sales-manager
October 4th, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
Halftime shows are lame as shit. No way I'm paying more for my tickets so we can start buying halftime entertainers.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Would it be alright if a popular artist performed inside Michigan Stadium as a venue? That would be great. But for a half-time show? They'd only have ~20 minutes to work with before they'd have to clear the field for second-half warmups. So... no. Awful idea.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
would be great. How great would it be if they incorporated the band in their performance. Remember "Dave Chappelle's Block Party" Kanye utilizes a small college band to the fullest!
October 4th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
Seriously? We're calling him 'Ye now? He's a goddamn toolbag who isn't nearly as talented as he thinks he is. He's a legend in his own mind.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
I'm confused as to where you stand on this.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:26 PM ^
Yes, Timothy, because abbrieviating one's name is a sure sign of being a toolbag.
And I suggest you give several listens to Twisted Fantasy.
October 4th, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
Where did I say that's what makes him a toolbag? Him being a toolbag is what makes him a toolbag. I'm just surprised to see him referred to as "Ye". He's a douchbag, any way you slice it.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
I don't really get why everyone seems to adopt this stance about rap. I don't particularly love classic rock, but I don't make posts like "Oh, we're calling them the STONES now? Since when do THOSE GUYS deserve a nickname?" I can jam to "Beast of Burden" now and then and I respect them as musicians and artists. Why can't people afford rap the same dignity?
Whatever moniker Kanye chooses to go by, he's undeniably one of the best in the hip-hop game now. Kanye does unpredictable and exciting things with his beats and his albums, and Twisted Fantasy was a fantastic work that really delved into Kanye's feelings about himself, his career, and the music industry as he sees it.
Whether you like rap or not, saying things like this is just being a jerk.
October 5th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
I like a lot of rap, just not Kanye West. You shouldn't make broad assertions like that without some evidence to back up what you're saying. Don't paint me as something I most definitely am not. Got it?
Your Rolling Stones analogy is way off too. It would be like calling Kanye West "Kanye", which is whatever, but thinking he's generally regarded such that calling him "Ye" is acceptable is a little much. I think he's a gigantic douchebag. Comparing himself to Jesus (no Jesus freak here either) and actually believing in what he's saying when he says it? Wow.
That's all.
edit: yeah, nice you downvoted it so it would collapse so nobody could see me defend myself. dick.
October 5th, 2011 at 1:19 PM ^
Read my edit on my collapsed post. Assholes. Don't make me out to be something I'm not.
October 4th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
Kanye sucks. Jay and Em would be great though. It wont happen but thatd be awesome if it did. This would be great for recruiting, especially if we beat tsio's ass. Ya im lookin at you Mr Dunn.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
hell yeah!!
October 4th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
Despite my typical GTFOML stance, I'd be okay with this as a one time thing if and only if the following conditions were met:
1) All background music is provided by the MMB
2) Kanye is immediately sniped by the dudes on top of the suites if, outside the actual lyrics of his song, he opens his mouth to say anything political or self-aggrandizing.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
October 4th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
no way DB allows this
October 4th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
If there's one person that probably WOULD allow this, it's Dave Brandon.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
This is the Midwest, we don't want Hove here wearing his stupid Yankee hat. Solo Kanye or Lupe, that is all
October 4th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
they're from Chicago right?
October 4th, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
As much as it sucks (I like Detroit a lot better) Chicago is basically the Capital of Big Ten country
October 4th, 2011 at 3:30 PM ^
The stadium isn't built for this ... football isn't about rap and R&B. Not to mention, bands and singers at college football games makes no sense. Save that for the NFL venue please and bring on the marching bands.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
football isnt about rap and r&b go ask the players what they listen to?
bet its rap... or r&b that they listen to most.
Id buy extra tickets just so i could dance and rock out in my isle.
October 4th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
October 4th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
because i can... thats why... dont worry about what i do worry you... at the end of the day i promise the sun will set and rise again.... you'll be just fine..
October 4th, 2011 at 5:44 PM ^
October 4th, 2011 at 5:50 PM ^
I thought the University of Michigan Athletic Marketing Department told me that the players liked "In The Big House" by Pop Evil, not Rap or R&B.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
I think it would be cool and I am a 36 yo white guy.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
let an ex-free base addict crash at your house for a few months.
Bad idea, students.

October 4th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
And it would have be more like the Michigan Marching Band with special guest Eminem. Which might actually be doable.
This reminds me does anybody else remember a halftime show last year where the drum major tried rapping along to, or am I creating this memory in my mind.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
if this were to happen it would literally be the coolest thing in the history of the world. A awsome concert at the best football game of the year ! ? wow id pay $300 for the shittist seat there
October 4th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
October 4th, 2011 at 5:52 PM ^
Which is why this won't happen: all of the seats at this game are already sold, so there is no profit to be made.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
I think the midday start and possibly frigid temperatures alone make this an unlikely scenario. Super Bowl and many bowl game performances of this grandure take place at night.
Also, given the time it would take for the set-up/tear-down of the stage, would the B10 even allow something like this?
October 4th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
I approve as long as Dave Brandon will sign stating that Neil Diamond and Journey will never be played in the Big House again. I could deal with these dudes rapping, halftime is currently an incredible waste of time anyway.
October 4th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
I'm pretty sure halftime wasn't created for our entertainment.
October 4th, 2011 at 4:01 PM ^
What do you have against Jorney? Have stopped believing?
