Michigan back in it for DB Yuri Wright (Don Bosco Prep)
Via DGDestroys twitter, Michigan has started to get back in to things with cornerback Yuri Wright. "Yuri Wright, says Michigan is the school he's always wanted to go to and that they'll definitely get a visit.
Wasn't Gridiron Kings just 7on7?
I meant "the Opening," not Gridiron Kings.
There are too many recruiting events with stupid names at this point.
Get off our lawn, Kiffin...

Or if the coaches just want him and he commits. He is the biggest and highest rated of the three.
Which makes me ask the question: Why isn't he already committed?
It brings up thoughts of the unseemlier side of recruiting. Some of these kids are getting pulled this way and that by people who don't have their best interests in mind. Not saying this is going on with Yuri, just that I find the quote a little puzzling
I'm going to guess that not being able to take official visits yet has a lot to do with it. Not too many players have commited to out of region schools yet. Despite the size of our class it's still pretty early.
Didn't the staff tell Armani Reeves that they want one more "elite" corner? With more and more people viewing Anthony Standifer as a CB/S tweener, it would make sense that the staff would go after a true corner that is the claiber of Reeves or Wright if they have the room.
I know the sites haven't picked up on him yet (except Lemming/Maxpreps who has him in the top 100), but Standifer is a very good CB. He's got size, speed and skills. He might not be "elite" but he's really good. Look at how picky ND has been able to be with CBs in this class and they had an offer to him as well.
about the coaches thinking Standifer is more suited for safety rather than a quality judgment? And perhaps seeing the incoming class months after their commitments, they know they've lost Kellen Jones and may see a projected DB has physically developed in a way that may make him more helpful as an LB. And since they've got good LBs lined up for the next year, why not find another CB now?
Pure speculation, of course.

The dream of the base 2-3-6 defense remains intact...
on the georgia boards are pretty confident about yuri...colorodo and rutgers are also other players. He plans on taking an official to michigan though and these comments are encouraging, no doubt.
I wish we had 40 spots available in this class. so many great HS players are seriously interested in michigan.
I just hope we keep recruiting like this every year. Between 2012 and 2013, we could have 45 great new players.
If we had 40 guys in one academic class, that would make for one brutal rebuilding year after they'd all graduate.
Nutt signed a class of 37 recently...
sorry for that ole miss calss, so many of those kids never even made it on campus....no ethics.
I we can put it together a little bit this season, getting to 9 or so wins, next year may be even more huge.
I always think of Braylon Edwards vs. Jaren Hayes when this is mentioned
I thought Reeves is under 6'0? Standifer, if he stays at corner, would fit the height requirement you're talking about.
If you go back further, we have had some great +6'0 corners like that Woodson guy.

both ESPN and Scout reported that Leonte Carroo committed to Rutgers. While this probably doesn't hurt Michigan to much (though he did have an offer I believe) he is a teammate of Wright's.

from 3 weeks ago, We're 3rd on list from what I got. ND coaches arent keeping in touch, dont think ND is a factor anymore. We need to make some ground against uga & colorodo.
From what's been said by TomVH, this really has nothing to do with Richardson. This is not an either Yuri or Terry proposition. I realize that we have an incessant need to speculate, but it seems like there is no need in this case. We seem to want them both. Good for us.
Your understanding = way off.
Terry told the coaches he plans on taking visits. The coaches reached out to Reeves and Wright, just in case Terry does take those visits.

I understand your version may be slightly more logical, in terms of a timeline-based version of the articulation of events, than the poster's version of the story that you replied to. But, unless you have some first-hand knowledge of the coaches' decision making, how can you so demonstratively say, "I am absolutely right, and you are absolutely wrong"?

The info available. TomVH explicitly stated that the emergence of Yuri had nothing to do with Terry. I didn't claim otherwise. So, Tom is way off then?

TomVH's statement to this fact is in this very thread. He also said the same thing in the Reeves post.
...if Wright has always wanted to come to Michigan, and he's that highly rated, why the disconnect until just recently? Seems like it should have happened months ago, or at least more mutual interest along the way.

I don't understand why everybody is saying we should definately not pick up another corner in this class.. If we can put two shut down corners together on the field at one time, how is that not a good thing. Even if Richardson stays I say we pick this guy up.
