Dee Hart (YTDH) Tears ACL

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

I felt very sad to hear this news.  Hope this kid is able to fully recover.  Best wishes to Dee and his family.

Right now it's alot of twitter buzz, but no official word just yet.  I hope this is similar to the "Taylor Martinez is leaving Nebraska" twitter rampage.  But this might have some teeth.

EDIT: Confirmed by TomVH

Since Dee Hart was formerly committed to Michigan, and is a top incoming and talented recruit for a large program that Michigan will play soon, and thus is a player that college football fans might find worth a watch or follow; and this being a blog that tends to run the gamut as far as sports related news is concerned, I believe this topic falls easily under the "normalcy" of the board.

I don't disagree with that premise in the least, fine sir- however, the player Dee Hart, specifically, has been grossly over reported into the realm of utter madness and infatuation in the past year.  I'm merely the humble, dissenting view.

Plus you guys were all bored as hell tonight anyway.  Admit it.

I understand, but this doesn't seem to be one of those Dee Hart gots a Bama boner what do you think about that? threads.  If he did tear an ACL it's a pretty significant injury for a RB, or anybody for that matter.  Shit, if my mom tore her ACL I might post it.

totally agree,  too many people around here try to get brownie points by pretending they give a shit about a kid from some other school who got a boo boo.  if they really do, that's sad and, as you said, they need more things to care about.

It's always a shame to hear of a player going down with a terrible injury like that. I don't blame him for not staying committed to Michigan and I definitely do not wish this type of injury on him. I hope he does well and recovers fast and then in 2012 we can beat him haha

status-post ACL reconstruction, so I am especially empathetic to his plight. I wish him a speedy recovery, but man he's got quite a road ahead of him!

Yes  I wish Dee would've gone to Michigan as much as the next guy,  but no matter who he plays, a young man with a future much brighter than he will ever realize, it is tragic to see a major injury happen. Some guy just never recover from stuff like this, hopefully Dee recovers well

The only source of this info comes from an Auburn message board poster, and no one has confirmed it. Also, the story "broke" at 9:30 pm, a little strange. Auburn = a more successful Michigan State; their entire lives are dedicated to worrying about Alabama.

I'll believe it when a respected news source confirms it.

For better or worse, this isn't the Michigan he signed up for.  When you combine the CC with "southern hospitality" and "hostesses," I don't blame him for signing with Alabama.  He wasn't a diva about it and didn't badmouth the University of Michigan.

They are doing wonders with ACL tears nowadays, but it still takes well over a year for most people to truly get back to 100 percent.  I don't really ever remember anyone being a hundred percent his first season back from an ACL tear.  Usually, the first season back, most players look decent, but don't have the "it factor" that they had before the injury.  The lucky ones get it back the following season.  The unlucky ones never do.

Hopefully, Hart gets to have a long and productive career.  If not, I hope he takes advantage of the scholarship and gets a degree.

Feel awful for the kid.  Should be a tremendous player and this is truely unfortunate.

Also, what other Dee Hart would this be?

Would have been better if the Negs had teeth. I do hope Dee gets his scholarship honored or this could be a Nick Saban call out if he sticks to his MO.

The only scholarships he has pulled are from kids that get in trouble with the law or don't make grades. Saban's issue is the medical scholarship thing, in which case the kids still go to school for free. You would worry about Hart losing his scholarship if it was Nutt, Miles, or Spurrier.

This might be yet another example of how important it is for kids to pursue their academics in addition to the athletics.  There's a pretty long line of players whose NFL dreams ended during a doctor's consult.

care about guys who run the ball for M!

No ill will, I wish Dee didn't get hurt, but oh well. At this point I care a lot more about Shaw, Cox, Smith, Hopkins, Rawls, etc...

I hope Hart a full and speedy recovery.  But I also fear now that he'll be admitted to the Nick Saban Medical Hospital any day now.

If there's a silver lining here, it's that this will mean that we won't have a million updates on his 2011 season, complete with people arguing that he alone would have saved RR's job (despite not playing on the defensive side of the ball).

Interesting bit of info...

Dr. Phillips had to forfeit their entire 2010 season due to an ineligible player from outside their district.  Wonder if all of Dee's records will stand.

But he chose Bama in the end.  It still is newsworthy hearing about a recruit who was close to signing a LOI for us!  I wish him all the best and hope he can play in a few years. Though, with Bama's talent he may have a tough time ever starting!
