I literally just ate a Slim Jim.
Coincidence?
Yes.
That's sad, though. It's hard to believe he was 58.
Coincidence?
OOOOOOOoooo YYYEEEAAAAHHHH!
Somewhere up there Miss Elizabeth is waiting for him.
RIP.
... is dead?
There was that whole ugly Lex Luger thing...Google it...sad story.
It's no wonder he wrestled under "Lex Luger".
Lex is a friend of mine, he's a great guy... Probably one of the nicest guys i've ever met... That being said, his ring name came from the fact he has German ancestory (Lugar the gun type) and he really likes Superman so he took the first name from Lex Luther.. True story.
Just meant looking up the Elizabeth story, I can see why he came up with it, because I'm not sure "The Flying Pfohl" would have sounded as intimidating.
Damn this one hurts....he was my favorite.
Whenever i heard him talk (yell?) i always thought "now there's a guy whose underwear is too tight"
Yeah.......
You'll be missed Macho Man...one of a kind.
If you haven't heard his album "Be A Man," you should give it a listen. It's rap/hip hop style, and it's almost exactly what you would expect.
Give it a listen here http://grooveshark.com/#/album/Be+A+Man/442983?src=5
Where's my folding chair?
I was a kid. Wrestling was SO much more entertaining in his time
between wrestling now and wrestling then is the fact that now you can spot things that suck.
Macho Man will be missed...being 10 years old and watching that guy was fun
And P.I.P
RIP.
I used to like wrestling back in the day with Macho Man, Hogan, Junk Yard Dog, etc.
Picture in picture...?
The pink leopard-spot male bikini-brief underwear industry will never be the same.
And I suppose the same could be said about the plastic window-blind sunglasses sector as well.
Arrividerci, Bone Saw McGraw...
this is a sad day. RIP Macho Man
OOOOOOOOOH YEAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
Just fantastic - true artists the both of them!
There I said it and I won't take it back
Given the source material and the product, I don't think that's a bad thing at all.
RIP Macho Man.
Is that him? If so, he still had that crazy stare right to the end.
is Paul Bearer in charge of the funeral arrangements?
No, the Undertaker is.
THe guys vocal chords must have been totally trashed.
Sweet sunglasses Randy. Always.
He had the strongest pinky finger in the world!
What? I was young!
...and was awesome, this guy was at the very heart of it. And I, as a kid, ate it all up. Still remember those awesome Saturday nights where SNL would be preempted by Saturday Night's Main Event.
Macho Man vs. Ricky The Dragon Steamboat in Wrestlemania III was about as good as wrestling ever got.
and true story... when Steamboat got his larynx crushed by the bell, he was actually supposed to win the WM3 match AND go on a long run as intercontinental champ to build him up as a main eventer. With the injury and Steambaot wanting time off to be with his wife and newborn, and Macho becoming a Hogan foil, McMahon made the decision to force Steamboat to drop the title just a few months after WM3 and give it to the Honky Tonk Man, who then went on a still record 454 day long run as IC champ before he gave way to the Ultimate Warrior.
If memory serves, I actually saw Savage vs. Honky for the IC title at a live event in Dayton's Hara Arena, right before Thanksgiving in either 1986 or 1987. Can't quite recall.
Does anyone remember that before he joined the family business (rasslin'), Randy Poffo (aka Macho Man) was a minor league teammate of ex-Tiger Larry Herndon in the Cardinals' system? Rumor ws that Macho Man was one crazy dude and that Herndon had some hilarious stories...
Macho Man was actually born in...Columbus.
Played in the Cincinnati Reds' minor league organization as well.
ESPN Page 2 talked with Larry Herndon, who was Poffo's roommate in the minor leagues. Nothing too indepth, though he does tell how Poffo used to swing his baseball bat at a hanging car tire as a training exercise and Herndon adopted it and still uses it today.
Dang,
I saw him go off the turnbuckle at Wrestlemania III. Good times. Good times.
Damn, this sucks. He was a legend and one of my favorites. RIP Macho Man!
Wow. That just fucked my day up. What's sad is that to millions of kids that grew up in the 80's, these guys were literally and figuratively larger than life. They were heroes to a lot of us, and you don't imagine things like that happening to your heroes, no matter how old you become. It's also sad that he is yet another wrestler that has gone on to that big ring in the sky. RIP good sir.
I had Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior wrestling buddies.
back in the 80's he was one of the top dogs of the WWF. RIP man, I had some fun times pretending to give friends the elbow off the top ropes brutha...
If you like pro wrestling...
White by chance. Trash by choice.
Does this idiot have any sense of humor?
Old pro wrestling is hilarious and often winked at the audience. For those like yourself who think the vast majority of people who "like" it take it seriously instead of tongue-in-cheek, the joke's on you.
As long as I live, forget the day when Hulk Hogan joined the NWO, and turned on Macho Man. I remember watching that at 12 years old, and my innocence being taken away. That may sound funny, but I really think a lot of other kids felt the same way, it was a shock to the system.
