Thanks for this. I find everything about this situation to be fascinating and its cool to be able to see what the people in charge of the situation had been thinking about.

I want that nickel! I've surprisingly had some success running the zone read recently. Mainly it's been against the computer and it still doesn't work all that great every game, but I've been able to put up good offensive numbers running it with both Michigan and Oregon's playbooks. Obviously, the blocking for the zone read is way off, so you can't really try to read the DE like a real QB would. So, instead, I try to look for a hole the way the quarterback is supposed to take it. If its there keep the ball, otherwise hand it off. Most of the time I hand it off, but occasionally I can get 7 yards or so when I keep will the QB. Also, mix up the run plays you choose and call some designed hand off, speed options, and the zone read that has the tackle pulling (QB Wrap, I think it's called), though I still hand it off most of the time on this play too. So, it's possible and I'd recommend trying to run it with the Oregon playbook at first which gives more of a variety of plays and formations, like many triple options out of the shotgun. To have success with the triple option, I try to determine if there is room to run outside with the QB and if there isn't then I hand it off right away. Hopefully this helps, though I don't blame you if you don't feel like trying it, because it does take practice to be able to recognize when to keep the ball and when to hand it off.
Exactly. If there's one thing I've learned from the way the MSM and even other national blogs have portrayed Rich Rodriguez, it's that it's hard to understand what is actually happening in a program from what the media says about it.
While I tend to agree with While I tend to agree with your point, 107 MPH, really? That's ridiculous! There no way he throws anything over 103 and there is absolutely no way he hits it on any kind of consistent basis. As for the move, it's not terrible especially with all of the other young arms in the bullpen that can step in if needed. It's probably better than overpaying for some of the closers available, who seem to be asking for a lot and aren't all that consistent.

Fuck. That is all.
Saw it in GR I saw the game. The play that drew the PI penalty was a Hail Mary from about the Brown's 40 where Stafford had to scramble for about 10 seconds, dodging the three man rush, before bombing it to Calvin in the middle of the endzone. The pass was picked off, but Bryant Johnson was being pushed out of the back of the endzone, drawing the flag. Stafford was hit after he threw and was hurt, making the Lions bring in Culpepper until the Brown's stupidly called a timeout, allowing Stafford to come back and throw quick pass to Pettigrew for the TD.
Freshman QB I think most of the mistakes were due to Tate being a freshman who still doesn't have a lot of experience. I expect that he will improve greatly heading in to next season, with all of the extra practice.
That really sucks and That really sucks and hopefully I won't have to experience the same thing, as I will be a freshman next year. However, no matter how bad you feel(and how bad I would feel, if it was me), it must be a lot worse to be a senior on the team that directly experienced that fate.
Exactly. I don't see any reason to liveblog it.
I agree with that we I agree with that we shouldn't have a liveblog, just because it seems to lead to a lot of irrational posts and doesn't really add too much to the game. The only real argument for it, IMO, is that it allows people a chance to follow the game, if they don't getit on TV.
I am a n00b. That is all. I am a n00b. That is all.
I think there is a potential I think there is a potential benefit from it. Odds are there are people sitting around the screaming idiot who are also angry and less knowledgeable to the point of believing the nonsense. By calling the person out, the rest of the people sitting in the area get to hear a dissenting opinion that hopefully stop them from becoming a screaming idiot themselves.
Agreed That is all that needs to be said about the show.
I think Peyton Manning should I think Peyton Manning should have won the Heisman.
I second this completely. I'm I second this completely. I'm hoping that every BCS team ends with 2 losses (well, not Michigan, of course) and that two of either BSU, TCU, or Houston go undefeated. This probably won't happen and would result in a potentially terrible set of bowl games, but it would push the BCS very close to a playoff system.
Pissed off? Why would they be any more pissed off this week than they were last week and this week? That anger sure didn't help them at all.
I recommend a 360, unless you I recommend a 360, unless you really want to play a good baseball game. Overall, despite the cost, Xbox Live is better than whatever playstation has for online play and the majority of sports games are available for both. However, if you want to play baseball games a lot, then I would say go for the PS3, as MLB the Show (only for PS3) is significantly better than MLB 2k (available for both). Either way, the differences aren't too apparent and, while the 360 can have some problems breaking down (mine broke for 3rd or 4th time recently), PS3 has problems as well, though probably not quite to the same extent.

This is terrible news! The This is terrible news! The podcasts that Simmons did on Carolla's site were definitely some of the funniest podcasts on the internet. Of course, it's not really surprising considering it is ESPN and I think Simmons even made a joke that he would get fired because of the last podcast.
I would also prefer the I would also prefer the spread, but have already joined and will play either way. Also, just a suggestion, but you could make a second league that picks with the spread to go along with this one. I'd join that too and I think others would do the same.
I found it, thanks. The I found it, thanks. The channels aren't listed as alternates to the BTN specifically in the channel guide, but I should have checked the website first.

Son of a Bitch... The curse strikes again!
I completely agree. If things I completely agree. If things like the first post are not pointed out as completely worthless, then they will be accepted by the board as a whole and, at some point, the quality of posts will drop significantly.
Thanks for this insightful Thanks for this insightful post...
Well, I can't argue with Well, I can't argue with stats, but is there any way you can tell if there were runners in scoring position even in those games where he allowed only one baserunner? I tend to argee with Sommy that it seems like Rodney always makes the save more difficult than it should be and that is the only explanation that I can think of that is possible with the stats you've shown.
I'll give you that one. I'll give you that one. Despite his statistical success, he usually makes the game more interesting before getting the last out.
Even if we don't have a Even if we don't have a closer of the future, that's not the reason you created this thread and is irrelevant to your argument. You stated that Rodney shouldn't be the closer at this point, which, as previously shown by others, is not the case, as Rodney is, at the very least, an average closer.
Rodney is an above average Rodney is an above average major league closer and the Tiger's best option at this point. He gets the job done and that's really all that matters.
Oh ok, thanks. I probably Oh ok, thanks. I probably should've clicked on the link.
One thing on the all-conference data: I assume the data used includes every player no matter what conference they play in. If this is the case, then the occasional 4 star and the greater number of 3 and 2 stars that play outside of the BCS would have a better chance of making the all-conference team, as they play against generally weaker competition and are competing against other 2 and 3 stars for the spots. So, if this data is applied to Michigan and the rest of the BCS teams, I'd expect a greater disparity between the percentage of 5 star and 3 star players that make all-conference teams.
Please don't make posts that Please don't make posts that use a "clever" variation on a team's name. Despite what the commenters over at the freep think, MSUcks, O$U, scUM, or any similar nickname of them are not, in fact, clever. Even if you were joking, which you may have been, using nicknames like that will make you enemies in a hurry.

Damn! I must have missed it. Damn! I must have missed it. Sorry for the repost.
Great post That's the best explanation I've heard as to why there won't be a change to the bowl system
Exactly! Unfortunately, this Exactly! Unfortunately, this isn't the only case of this happenning recently. I know some members have excellent diaries as first posts, but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. To solve this, I think the best solution is to impose a restriction that doesn't allow new members to post a diary for somewhere between a week and a month allowing them to get acquainted with the style of posting that usually happens here.
Yes, this was a very good Yes, this was a very good post, but should have been done on the board instead of a diary.
Yeah, or I could just use it Yeah, or I could just use it as my signature!
I'd like to join if this gets I'd like to join if this gets started.
Not much change needed I actually like the way the board is currently set up. It allows for a lot of intelligent discussions that don't allow for much trolling or flame wars. However, I wouldn't oppose a few changes as long as the same self-moderation tools can still be used.

I'm not so sure about I'm not so sure about Martinez as a option for the Tigers. Without taking the price into account, Martinez is a defensive liability with a weak arm and many people have talked about him moving to 1st base. Also, I think the Tigers are satisified with Laird's production so far, as he's been great behind the plate, even though he doesn't have much power, he hasn't been too bat at the plate. The Tigers have many needs, but I don't think a different catcher is a top priority.
