"It's a lot easier being a drug dealer than an AAU coach" - this guy. Tell me something I don't know. I mean, don't think but have never tried either.

Since the coaching change moved him to linebacker, I'd read that it's been an adjustment and even talk about him sticking with the team.
Those of us from afar can only check the postgame stats to see how he's doing: Not a starter, but he had a highlight sack last week, and this week another sack along with a forced fumble. Any local/inside news on one of our favorite players?

|1 day 18 hours ago||Visibly Stronger||
or at least visibly better, according to LSASuperstar's detailed analysis of the Michigan Drill practice video [EDIT: bumped to Diary from Board?]. Here's his desciption of one of Miller's reps:

So you're saying the coaches have some basis to their statements that Miller's showing improvement? Nice.

A preview moment that worked for me (twice): video of Austin checking into his first game with the team in Italy, and the description of the moment in team manager Devon Mulry's blog report:
Mulry was sitting next to Jim Hatch, Austin's grandfather, when a buzz started spreading in the crowd:

Linked to the article above, one about Willie having had to make adjustments on the field and off as a freshman and Frank Clark mentoring him, having gone through similar things with similar backgrounds, helping him learn to trust that their coaches, like their high school coach Ted Ginn, have only their best interests at heart.

and the glass was to protect the fans from flying pucks. So you're telling me it's the other way around?

Just got home, and there it was, curled up cozily in the mailbox.
|4 days 1 hour ago||Also in NY, but not worried.||
Figure Brian might be bringing them to the Alumni thing tonight to hand deliver it. Too bad I forgot to tell him I can't be there this year.
I did receive the specimen kit for a medical research project I volunteered for. [Didn't fit in my mailbox, so I hope my neighbors didn't panic seeing "Human Specimen" written in such big letters on the box sitting casually in the lobby.]
|4 days 10 hours ago||Not to the extent he was in jaxville||
He clearly couldn't hold on to the ball because his hand wasn't working.
And that first fumble on his first snap at Michigan was priceless. Turned into a TD if I recall correctly. So there's fumbles, and then there's fumbles.
|4 days 18 hours ago||It took a long time for his nerve injury to heal||
which they now realize explained his ball-handling difficulties last season, so they'll trust him again and let him try more things. He's also spent time in the gym and looks much less delicate than before. But he can still flash that smile.

but it also includes Hoke's post-scrimmage presser. A good listen, and recommended for the meltdown artists.
Also some tweets along the right margin with still shots and brief video clips.

At least the taller ones look taller. Than the less tall ones. (Bacari's shot.)
EDIT: They look even taller with that MGoBlog response-post squeeze'm in effect.

With all the speculation, I thought you wanted a picture of the nose tackle.

it before the season. And then Hoke springs this on them.

But in the meantime, seems watching your team when it can't lose should be pretty good therapy. And may the season be good enough to ease his way through treatment.

Can we blame it on poor coaching/player development?
|1 week 5 hours ago||I was thrilled to see this posted||
to know I'm not alone. (I was tempted but too cowardly.) I think the new design is ugly and amateurish. I'm not opposed to change and innovation, but here I'm in the "why fix what ain't broke?" school.
The old masthead was so much classier. The new one has weird spacing between letters and letter sizes that aren't consistent enough or inconsistent enough to seem actually "designed." Guys on this blog do better graphics work with their Paintshop and little or no budget. And there's way too much white space for my taste. Pale limited text, and having to cursor constantly to find what I'm looking for or even finish reading a sentence.
There. I feel better telling someone.
|1 week 1 day ago||Damn. Mea culpa||
You know, right after the word slipped out, I wondered if I'd mispoken. But the coach didn't miss a beat with his retort. (So what was Stevie teasing him about?) Now I have to write him, and Stevie, to set the record straight.
|1 week 2 days ago||Great article||
and for those who have followed this incredible story, the accompanying picture is almost beyond belief.
|1 week 2 days ago||Apparently Mundy still considers himself a Wolverine||
In a story I posted elsewhere, earlier this year I met the secondary coach for the Giants (in an airport security line) and immediately asked him how Stevie (Brown) was. "Great!" And he added, "And we have Ryan Mundy, too!" [now with the Bears]
I mentioned that Mundy didn't actually graduate from Michigan, and the coach said with a smile, "Yeah, Stevie never lets him forget that."
|1 week 2 days ago||The backup QB the most popular guy||
That's probably why I liked Brady so much. (Not rewriting history here. Honest.) Those were the days when I started watching the games far from home on TV. Hadn't paid much attention, didn't know a thing about recruiting, didn't know Henson was the #1 QB recruit and Brady only the #7 nationally (or something like that), so I didn't understand why they kept putting that freshman in. Why can't he wait his turn like Brady did? Henson didn't look any better than Tom. (To an admittedly less educated fan.) Brady threw an interception, so you pull him and the teenager throws an interception in response? Give the poor guy a chance!
Of course I also didn't know a thing about baseball lurking in the background until I saw a puff piece with Steinbrenner leading an OSU pep rally. Then it all started making sense.
|1 week 3 days ago||And to be able to say they did the same things||
Instead of trashing or humiliating a newbie, he can laugh at seeing his past self and share his own foibles. It's more fun learning from a mentor than from an arrogant jerk. And certainly better for team morale.

|1 week 6 days ago||Mythical Up-Votes||
I always like to watch the presser while following the text. Need the questions that go with the answers. "Torn ACL." WHAT!?!? WHO!?!?! [Hoping against hope the question was "What is the most devastating injury in a football camp?]
Welcome, Adam. Just in time.
EDIT: Geez. I wrote this before I noticed the "ACL tear is faux" post. (Fortunately after the subject post was deleted.)
|1 week 6 days ago||I remember some comments||
to the posting of that video panicking that Clark was turning to "outside" help, implying he couldn't get it from the coaching staff. In their defense (not that they should panic), I think Clark just said how much he was getting from Carr without identifying him as a coach, assuming listeners would know that. I for one didn't know until I heard on WTKA that Carr was official.
Love to see former players coming back to help, and feeding that coaching tree.
