Your predictions for Michigan at MSU

Submitted by Eye of the Tiger on

Get them in now, while it's early!

Though I'm seriously concerned about our offense's ability to get it done against an actually good front 7 that's going to sell out against the run, I think in a lot of ways, they have more riding on this game and no matter what Vegas says, they are the ACTUAL LOGICAL favorites. Though they do get their stops in, in the end that pressure negates the home-field advantage, as does a very smart gameplan from Gorgeous Al. We overcome a bad Denard INT or two with a couple turnovers ourselves, and win a tense one.

How many prediction threads do we need?

Answer:0

Does anyone really care what random guy on the internet predicts the score to be? Do you actually scroll thru everyones predictions?

This is like the "picks" segments on the the sports radio shows. Just lazy radio and filler for 20 minutes. Valenti and Foster is great. Valenti is real serious "breaking it down" and Dery and Foster are like uh.. duh... Houston!! I have no idea what the point is.

How many condescending posts about predictions do we need?

Answer:0

Does anyone really care that some random guy on the internet thinks predictions are stupid?

Seriously, we are just having fun, and you can say you called it if your prediction turns out to be correct. This thread is just as relevant to the game as discussing strengths/weaknesses of each team, because neither will actually have an impact on the game.

I think Hoke has smurfed the tide on the smurf. Hell smurfs in Ohio are starting to smurf him. Never in a million smurfs I would have smurfed that. Smurfing Michigan jerseys is a good smurf.

I don't know how we cover Cousins to Cunningham, contain the edge/counters to Bell and Baker plus keep a consistent run game going ourselves. I think we get hit for a couple long punt/kick returns allowed and the defense can't consistanly defend a small field.

UM 42

MSU 17

Our D line owns the line of scrimage. They run for ~100 yards and cousings has a solid, but not spectacular day. He will throw an INT and there will be a fumble by a WR.

ON O, UM will have success through the air, but will be tough sledding at first on the ground. Denard starts out better through the air, but still gives up an INT in the first quarter. At the half, the passing game takes off and picks on MSUs weak secondary, and the running lanes start to develop.

Matchup of the game...UM line slowly, but surely starts to own LOS.

that being said, this game makes me want to curl up and hide. There is just something that tells me that bad things could happen on Saturday, things that will make me sad. I think their defense can contain our offense to a degree and I am just having a hard time gaining faith in our defense. I'm not sure how well our DBs can play against Cunningham and Martin. Sorry guys:

Disclaimer - Every time I think a game is going to be higher/lower scoring than most people think I end up being wrong. Nevertheless:

Michigan wins 42-27

And based on his play in this game, Denard finally starts getting serious Heisman consideration.

so I am leaning toward a blowout.

Only problem is who wins.....I guess I'll say M goes up 3 scores (17pts) late in the 3rd and without the threat of a run game Sparty coughs up some turnovers. Plus around the time they realize that won't win a slew of 15-yds penalties will give M great field position. Hoke shows no mercy to little brother.....

M 42 - MSU 10

** I can almost see the reverse if M goes down big in the 3rd (sans the unsporstmanlike calls) - but this is totally dependent on the Sparty run D being as good as they think they are. I think both teams / staffs are disciplined enough to stay with the game plan in the first half as long as they are within 3 scores.**

Michigan Def still gets trampled just a skosh (sp?)

Michigan Winning, 37-35, but MSU only pulls within 2 and never gets the ball back after a failed onside kick.

Serious a million times.

I think a lot of people are putting way too much stock in MSU's defeat of OSU. OSU's offense wouldn't have scored 20 points against some FCS schools that day.

EDIT: I feel comfortable with one other idea: This will be the last year for a long time in which MSU is even potentially on par with Michigan.

look much better for M in the "rivalry". MSU losing Cousins and Martin will be a bg blow to their O next year even if the line improves significantly. If we can avoid the need to use too much youth/inexperience on the O-line and D-line next year the game should not be close and trends positively from there.

But losing #4 in a row will make them even more unbearable (if that is possible) - At this point I would probably prefer a win vs. MSU over a win vs. OSU If forced to choose -- not even taking into account the whole divisional implications.

college football blog says we lose 23-14. We may lose, but there's no way they hold us to 14 points. Who has Sparty played? Only good offense they've seen is Notre Dame and the Domers lit them up. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Michigan 35, state 24. They score one TD on defense and special teams allow decent enough field position for them to go into the locker room up 21-7.

Then comes the second half. Denard puts together a pass attack that opens up the run. The Spartans hit the air tanks and kiss the best time of their existence goodbye.

Michigan 42 MSU 27

Just don't see them stopping us the whole game. If interceptions can be avoided we will score plenty of points. On the D side I can't stop thinking of the ohio state game and MSU only scoring 10 points. Is our defense better, the same or worse than osu? I'm leaning toward close to the same, but since it is a rival and all we give up more than 10. Go Blue!

Drunk by 11 AM. Blackout by 3. Wake up with various cuts around 7 PM. Check the score and either rejoice or cry.

Mich by 21. Fuck it.

28-17 Michigan
Denard throws for 2 TDs & 2 Ints, Toussaint breaks a long run for a TD, and our defense scores on a pick six
Cousins throws 2 TDs to Cunningham and 2 ints. We shut down their running game and force them to throw often and our defense causes 3 TOs

This great D everyone says for MSU got shredded by ND. 38-24 Michigan. Super Denardo goes 279 passing 113 rushing 4 total TD's 1 int. Go Blue!

Close game because both offenses will struggle. MSU has issues with their line, and we can rattle Cousins. MSU sells out to stop the run and it works, causing Denard to have some amazing throws and 2 bad INTs. In the end, our offense is too inconsistant against a pretty good D, and we can't come back in this one. MSU ends up winning.

MSU 20, UM 17. (Yes, we do convert a field goal. Silver lining I suppose)

I am not at all confident about this game. I think Dantonio puts so much emphasis on this game that he wins it while sacrificing a few games down the road. Sad to say it, but 27-21 MSU.

I agree that Dantonio outcoached Michigan with ease the past 3 years (in particular I think in 2009 the Wheel Route was a great play for us, and MSU picked us off twice on such plays, clearly showing that RR's offensive predictability was a liability).

That being said, I doubt MSU is ready for Gorgeous Borges.

thinking about this game pretty hard. I think it will be pretty close until the 4th quarter. I think we win the game 31-24. I have a feeling this team is ready to get back at sparty for the last three years. I can't but help think Hoke is gonna have the boys ready for battle.
