Your favorite Spartans
As a long-time lurker, occassional poster, I thought I would offer some friendly banter during hate week. I know from various comments on here which of my fellow Spartan brethren you collectively despise.
Out of curiosity, who among the Spartan community does MGoBlog collectively admire or respect (if any)?
I'll start it off and will admit that I did like watching Trey Burke (except when he played us), Biakabutuka and the A-Train, and also Jeremy Gallon for his accomplishments. Also, it's really hard to hate or disrespect Beilein.
This might be a disaster, but what the hell. Who are your favorite Spartans (if any)?
(Cue the "the guy always hooks me up with extra fries at McDonald's...durrr" posts)

I love me a pure shooter and I was too young to have my emotions damaged by him.

When I was a kid my family would go to all of the MSU basketball games and I loved Respert.

My first thought was Bobby Williams, but John L was certainly more of a character.

Wrong sport but I have great admiration for Justin Abdelkader.
October 14th, 2015 at 5:31 PM ^
Lol. And if he weren't a Red Wing?
October 14th, 2015 at 5:59 PM ^
The fact that he's a Wing doesn't hurt. Always like guys like Abdelkader and Glendenning who may not have been the most highly rated but became productive NHL players. Also like that he comes from the state.

Bill Burke. Circa '97. Talked some shit. Gave up an iconic interception.
October 14th, 2015 at 5:55 PM ^
That was Todd Schultz. Burke was the QB in '98 and '99.
October 14th, 2015 at 6:24 PM ^
Thanks. Burke beat OSU in 98, so he has a redeeming quality.

Jk jk. I respect Kirk Cousins, but that's about it.

sucks.

Walk the streets, I said WALK THE STREETS. He also has a street in Detroit named after him...

I can understand if he made you frustrated, or you disagree with his beliefs, but Cousins is an great person who deserves every bit of success he had/could have in the future.

The rest of the Spartans, I can't stand.

Growing up as goalie I had the same relationship with Ryan Miller that I did with Patty Roy: I hated their guts but I was in complete awe of how good they were. So I guess the closest thing I have ever come to liking a Spartan is respecting the shit out of Ryan Miller. Also John L. Smith was fun to watch...

I can't hate Bubba Smith. Not at all. Great persona. Just a great, tough football player.
October 14th, 2015 at 5:06 PM ^
Impossible to dislike Bubba Smith. Especially in Police Academy
Hightower was the man.
October 14th, 2015 at 5:16 PM ^
Incidentally James Burrill Angell, I must inform you that I am quite impressed with and wholeheartedly approve of your choice of a user name. Bully for you, sir! Let us retire to the lounge for a brandy!

and I've always found it interesting that the man who scored the first touchdown in Michigan Football history was an Engineering major.
October 14th, 2015 at 5:32 PM ^
I will +1 anyone who can name three character names from the Police Academy cast photo above without looking it up other than Bubba Smith's Moses Hightower.

Easy... I loved Police Academy Hooks, Tackleberry, and Mahoney
