You are the Michigan OC - what are your first 10 scripted plays?
I have no idea if we actually script plays but whatever:
- Fake QB draw / deep slant
- QB lead draw (left)
- Zone read
- Flare to HB (Smith)
- Rollout right - curl/flat combo pattern
- QB power offtackle
- Zone read with option to Odoms bubble
- Edge pitch (Shaw)
- Delayed QB draw
- 5 wide send Stonum and Hemingway deep

I think that scripting the first 10 plays is more effective when it takes your offense longer than 2 plays to score.
October 6th, 2010 at 7:26 PM ^
Naw, when you script ten then you know you will have 35 points.
October 6th, 2010 at 6:28 PM ^
None scripted plays are stupid
October 6th, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
Almost as stupid as saying none when you mean non, right?
October 6th, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
realize that scripted plays have a meaningful purpose right.
October 6th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
yes to see how they defend things. But I rather call based on what they are showing or field position etc etc. But I'm not going to run the OP 3rd play zone read if it's 3 and 18 on the 5.

1. Denard left.
2. Denard right.
3. Denard up the middle.
Repeat as necessary.

I love that designed QB counter draw that we saw against Indiana.
I also love that "oh hey, there's no one open. I think I'll just run for 70 yards and a touchdown" play.

5) Read option with smith

Needs more Denard.

I love this for the first 10 plays of the first half since they can't prep for his speed. However my theory as to why we aren't scoring as much until the final possession (see IU and ND 2nd half), rests with our RBs and playcalling to our WRs. So if this question was altered to 2nd half my answer would be
1. Denard or WR or RB
2. Denard or WR or RB
3. Denard or WR or RB
Repeat as necessary, with Denard receiving only ONE called run per 3 downs. If we mix in more carries for Shaw, and passes to our WRs later in the game, it helps Denard's effectiveness and our overall balance.

Really, I don't understand why we aren't doing this. It seems so simple to me. Oh well, I'm glad I could add something of value to the board.

Now that I think about it...in proper tradition.... #20 goes Zone left behind #77.......then #16 takes over....

Michigan is going to score 63 points? Sweet!

no one said anything about making the PATs. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here!

What about time of possession?
October 7th, 2010 at 10:06 AM ^
Sparty wins the TOP battle 59:14 - 0:46. Defense loses shutout on the last Sparty possession on account of being tired.
October 6th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
Finally, someone honors Jack Kennedy with the last TD of the game! Go Kennedy! Wasn't he voted most likely to be President by the team? I'm sure it has nothing to do with his name and all to do with his leadership characteristics. Seriously though, I hope he gets in someday.

Did I hear my name?
Seriously though, if they get a first down, there's no way they run play action. Also not if they are playing a team not named Notre Dame or OSU or bowl opponent.

As others have noted, just TD plays all day. This was the first clip that popped in my head, though, when I saw this topic.

Based on your scenario, Michigan will have scored 70 points on 10 plays. I like those odds even with our defense.
October 6th, 2010 at 8:48 PM ^
OK. Shaw, after you vibrate that way, you can fall down. Denard, you just spin around in a circle.
October 6th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
I'd like to see Lewan hatin' on that Jones donkey, or Omameh pile driving Jones into the ground. A couple plays with either or both of those happening and Denard sets new rushing records.

Lather, rinse, repeat if necessary.
