Whew! TWIS gon' be good this week...

Texas has to win the tears of unfathomable sadness, right?  Ouch.  Second week in a row their fate was sealed by a botched kick type event.

Oregon - that's just harmful.  On top of being smoked so, so, so bad - a perfectly executed fake punt return coupled with a perfectly timed fake punt just... I mean, in 38 states - that's actually considered a form of assault.

Texas Tech - great game, but man does that hurt being luck-catched and Tyler Ecker'd into a loss.

The field goal penalty in the Minnesota game with it all on the line, that's gotta be tough to swallow.  The saving grace here is that nobody in Ohio is actually an Ohio fan.

Tennessee has to be reeling after that one point comeback loss to a scrub Florida team.

I mean, we absolutely depantsed a ranked team, and I'm not sure BYU even gets into the article. (Mostly because I'm unsure of whether or not Mormon's are allowed to use computers.)

It feels so good to know that all across that nation, there are bitter, drunken people wallowing in their own self pity.  Is that an indictment on my character?

Great thread topic, but... Mormons are some of the most educated, sucessful, and wonderful working professionals you'll ever meet. I'm sure your comment is in jest, but makes you sound as though it is you who lives under a rock.

I think you have to tie Tennessee and Texas for tears of unfathomable sadness. Tennssee has been losing games like this for a long time. I don't think there's a worse team in the country at closing out games. Coming to terms with the fact that they went 0-3 against Muschamp led Florida teams and now lost again to a not that great Florida team, they're on an 11 game losing streak to them, and have only beat UF six times since the mid 70s really has to sting pretty bad. I don't know if I've ever seen a team just have another teams number like that. It doesn't matter who's coaching or who's playing...you can almost guarantee a Tennessee loss to Florida.

I think it's the nature of football fandom. It's about absolute value. The sting of a loss often exceeds the high of a win (though less so with perspective of age), and I still revel in losses of hated foes more than I probably should.

If I could map out my perfect weekend: M beats OSU while MSU, ND, whoever stands atop the SEC, Oregon, USC, Nebraska, and a handful of other teams (based on my rules of fandom) all lose. Of course if that perfect storm ever happens, I expect to promptly die.

It was another rough week to be an Arkansas fan as well. They blew their 8-point lead in the fourth by giving up a touchdown, 2-point conversion, and then they lost in OT without putting up a fight.

Don't forget Purdue. Missed a field goal to take the lead and then BG went on a drive that was saved/helped with a shitload of Purdue penalties and scores a td with 0:08 left to take the lead. I actually had to make sure there is a Purdue blog. There is and it was hilarious.

These kind of things happened each year. Unfortunately, we were part of it in the last 7 years. Not this year. So, I can sit back and enjoy all these meltdowns. It tastes sweet. I want more.

your own character, the answer is 'yes', your character is hereby indicted.

however, owing to your michigan fan-ness and otherwise being a swell cyber-friend,  your sentence is reduced to simply having to send us all beer.   good beer too, not that goebels crud we all used to drink in college.  we might add some other conditions to your probation, but start with the beer and we'll check back.

I would agree with the OP - my guess for "Tears Of Unfathomable Sadness" might be Texas too. I mean, in the week previous, the fatal blow comes on a field goal - yours, the one you missed. The very next week, the fatal blow comes on a field goal - Oklahoma State's, which they make. Double ouch.

The reactions of Oregon fans seeing Oregon happen to them should be pretty epic too. I am sure they thoroughly enjoyed watching an Oregon-type victory put together by the team they happened to be playing, right? Perhaps our west coast MGoBloggers have preliminary insight into this one.

Am I missing something? I keep seeing people say Utah faked a punt. I'm almost positive that was supposed to be a punt until the snap went really high so the punter decided he had to run with it.

'm thinking the snap went high because the snapper was concentrating too much on his assignments for the fake, and not enough on snapping the ball correctly.  You see bad snaps on fakes quite a bit, and runs on bad snaps quite a bit, so it is hard to tell them apart.  The rest of the line showed that they knew it was a designed run, though.

Every Utah and Michigan fan on Reddit has pledged a brotherhood to last until the next time we must be put at each other's throats, and each has adopted the other's logo as their secondary flair.
