What is your most painful draft of a player you love to a team you LOATHE?

Submitted by JetFuelForBreakfast on
As I sit in bed watching the draft with my wife, the Browns came to the podium with my only thought being, "Not Jabrill!" The Browns then ruined the life of one of my favorite Wolverines. On top of that, the Patriots took Brady and now the douchebag Cowboys take Taco. This is NFL Hell for a Michigan/Pittsburgh fan. To add insult to injury, my daughter informed me that her favorite team will be whomever drafts Jabrill...I thought I was a good dad...I have a lot of soul searching. Share YOUR draft pain fellow Wolverines!

Watching one of my favorite players ever, David Harris, spend his career on the Jets has been very hard.

Peppers to the Browns made me sad tonight. I love Pep, and I don't "loathe" the Browns per se, they're just such a bleh franchise and awful city. Really the last city I wanted to see him in. Happy that the Cowboys took Taco, that's a team I can root for with one of my favorite dudes I've ever watched at Michigan.

I've got a little conspiracy theory here: Jabrill has tweeted NOTHING about the Browns since being drafted by them. A little odd since it is A) his life long dream fulfilled, and B) he tweeted at Taco when he was drafted by Dallas a few picks later.

Earlier today there were rumors that the Browns wanted to trade for Kirk Cousins. We also know that Redskins seriously wanted Jabrill. They had multiple visits with him and were exploring trading back into the first round for him.

I think that Jabrill has been told either by his agent or by the Browns leadership themselves that he will be shopped around tonight and tomorrow throughout the day, with the main target being Washington in a deal for Cousins.

Either that or he is super salty about having to be in Cleveland, which is a much easier and more obvious explanation.

I don't hate the Browns, just feel bad for Peppers that he's going to have to deal with a shitty organization.

Taco to Cowboys actually pisses me off more. Fuck Jerry Jones.

Jake Ryan to the fudge packers comes to mind too.

For me, it is when any Wolverine leaves school early for the Pros. I'm happy for them as a person, and college should prepare you for your job. But, I get no money or satisfaction to see a pro team win or loss. But Michigan. I get massive statisfaction to see Michigan win in all sports. Thus I'd like all of our stars to stay for the full term. Imagine the Fab 5 for all 4 years... Woodson..... Romo stayed, and how fun was she to watch... Mike Comrie..... Oh well. Hope all Woleverines do well in their careers after college, just wish they'd all wear the maize and blue as long as they could.

isn't it impossible to loathe an nfl team? they're all 'meh' to me. rooting interest is based entirely around the players on the team, hence I root for teams with Michigan players and other high character players.

I don't really loathe any NFL teams. I'm a Lions fan because I grew up watching them, but I have a sense of humor more than a sense of caring, and none of the Lions rivals really hate the Lions enough to be hateful. I guess the Browns count because so many Buckeye fans, but it's hard to hate on the Browns for the same reason it's hard for them to hate the Lions.

The pick I really wish hadn't been made was Chris Perry to Cincinnatti in 2004. The Bengals already had Rudi Johnson, and were a year removed from the 1st overall pick, i.e. a total mess inside the locker room and on the field. Moreover they ran a quick WCO that didn't at all fit Perry's running style. I don't know what they were thinking but I was instantly like "well congrats on going in the 1st round but that's gonna suck."

Lions took Kevin Jones a few picks later, and Denver got Tatum Bell early in the 2nd round.

But I'm kind of weird in that my gripes and grievances have almost nothing to do with the people on the field.  I hate the Cowboys for their PR machine, I hate Washington because Snyder's an asshole. . . thing is, the NFL across the board is so dirty it's hard to find a team to like.  The players are basically just people in an ethical sense -- like any cross-section of society, they range from saint to sinner -- but the league itself is so lacking in shame that it's hard to work up any GAFs about the game part of the actual game.

I do check the draft, though, if only because I want players I like to succeed.

JP to Cleveland is a sad twist of fate and Ive always hated the Cowboys. I try to get traded if I'm JP and I'm not even kidding. Half the fans already hate him and he'll get blamed for anything that goes wrong for them. Manziel will have been treated better when it's all said and done, success or none.

Brady to the Patriots, retroactively.  At the time I was fine with it but after all of their success over the last 15 years, Boston fans are so fucking insufferable I wish they never got to be happy.

killed me that day and still till this day I'm not over it. Being a lifelong Bronco fan this one hurt really bad. Just like when Wheatley signed with the Raiders as well.

Watching #24 Woodson on the Raiders made me sick for many years. Still my favorite Wolverine ever though.

If you go to the best remaining players on ESPN and click on Malik McDowell they have a write-up of Marlon Humphrey. Thought that was pretty entertaining. Can't figure out how to post the screenshot on here.
