I was a big time hockey kid,…

I was a big time hockey kid, meaning I loved playing the game, but I was only 7 in 1980, so my mom "taped" the game on our VCR. Still have that game with many of the commercials from that era.

One fun thing about the broadcast is between 2nd / 3rd periods they cut to ABC's booth live in Lake Placid and there is a joyous, big American crowd chanting USA! USA!

"Most Americans watching don't know the different between a blue line and a close line..." Michaels had so many great lines in this game.

I did not attend the Rose…

I did not attend the Rose Bowl, the last one I attended with the magical game on Jan 1, 1998. A perfect ending to a perfect season.

I am currently on a plane headed to Houston however and will be in attendance.

I've been to Frozen Four winners (Cincy in 1998) and losers (UMD with Tiny Jesus), Final Four games in New Orleans that apparently never happened a Remy Hamilton game winner in South Bend, and I'm 1-1--1 in Columbus.

But yes, I brought the original UTL sweatshirt I've been wearing for big games.

Looking forward to this one.

I've not only been to each…

I've not only been to each of the 14 Big Ten Football Stadiums, but I've seen Michigan win at all of them plus Notre Dame, Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl. My Dad and I started this in the 1990s and last year's game at Nebraska completed the cycle. Due to Dad's health we won't be making UCLA or USC.

Hoops, not too many: UM, MSU (both Breslin and Jenison) and NW.

Oh I can. The US was losing…

Oh I can. The US was losing after 2 periods to Finland. Beat Finland and win the gold medal, lose and get 4th.

So, before the 3rd period Herb said, "If you lose this game, you will take it to your f-ing grave." He walks out of the dressing room, comes back in and screams, "Your f-ing grave."

Suomi didn't have a chance in the 3rd.

realized that have posting…

realized that have posting that Illinois has already played Neb and they are now on the schedule 3 total times - no sense there. If the B1G, wants UM / Ill to play, next week seems to be the logical choice.

I do not see how the…

I do not see how the Illinois game is scheduled on the 25th. Looking at the ESPN Schedule they have games on 2/23 (@MSU) and 2/24 (Neb). Now, I could see the switch out Neb and come to A2 on 2/24 or 2/25....

Other games - NW and UM both have games 2/21 and 2/27 so seems easy to put NW on 2/24.

Then maybe a B2B with IU (2/27 and 2/28) and a B2B with MSU (3/7 scheduled and add either Sat or Mon.

From a B1G perspective, why not just add the Illinois game as a swap out for their 2/24 Neb, and play out the schedule? UM gets in 16 of 20 and plays each team 1x.

IU has a break from our game on 2/27 until 3/6 so a B2B with them seems possible.

Love hearing he could be an MLB Outfielder, and since we're now a Baseball school, would be nice to see his Baseball stats.

Great start to the BBQ!

Simple, only 14 teams in the conference. Expand to 50+ and we can talk.

I'll blow up your idea, as I…

I'll blow up your idea, as I'm not sticking to 9 games.

Expand the season to 14 games. A full round robin conference schedule, no BTT game.

Week 1 = Non-Conference (maybe it has to be a "directional Michigan) but I'd love it to be a P5 School. As much as I like playing ND - until they join the conference full time I think all B1G teams should boycott playing them in any sport - yes they are a B1G member for hockey, so let them stay or kick them out.

Week 2 - 13 = Alternate with home / away with the remaining B1G Teams. I'd like MSU to be a mid October game, try to have it when the weather is good.

Week 14 = Ohio State

This is great. National TV…

This is great. National TV if you want to call MLB Network national but these type of tournaments vs top RPI teams is exactly what Hutch does - great experience early and chance for some good Ws.

I bet Michigan might be able to get a few more quality teams to come to Port St. Lucie too when they open their season at the Mets facility.

Michigan's destruction of…

Michigan's destruction of South Dakota St and VCU as they started their Final Four run in 2013.

Also - as a student, playing hockey at the Palace vs. ND students before the varsity game. That was a fun atmosphere, but felt so much larger than playing at The Joe.

That is the most interesting…

That is the most interesting stat of the night. Is Lewis the ref who t-ed him up twice? That's crap.

The boys fought back, cutting 16 all the way to 4, and then looked to run out of gas.

Hey WD -- My Dad and I are…

Hey WD -- My Dad and I are doing the same thing, and we are almost there! Would have made it had 1) The B1G not expanded and 2) Brady Hoke happened.

I've seen UM WIN in 13 B1G Stadiums (been to them all) as I'm only missing Nebraska (which might have been different if our back up QB wasn't moved to WR). I've also seen wins at ND, Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl (Harbaugh QB vs Nebraska) among others.

Anyhow, the Rutgers experience is not college. Has zero feel of a college stadium or even area / campus. But, it is very easy to get to.

Our 1st trip flew into Newark, took the train to New Brunswick and got a hotel right there (Hilton I think). George Street has a few bars, but there are not college - head to College Ave (fancy name).

This trip my wife and daughter joined with my mother and father. We stayed in Time Square. So we got a 2 for 1 - a Michigan Football game for Dad and I and the girls got a NYC Weekend.

The Stadium reminds me a little of Minnesota's TCF Bank - small, looks nice, more "pro" vs. College. They have 1 scoreboard with ads and replays, no stats.

Don't worry about Rutgers fans giving you crap - there are none.

Sit behind visitor bench between the 20s - the end zone seats are far from field but lower bowl behind the bench is a really good view and close to the field.

Enjoy!

Go Blue! - Matt

Every GF and now my wife…

Every GF and now my wife have known that Michigan Football is part of me. I watch every game. I went to every game until moving from Chicago to Iowa in 2012 - until then I still went to each game, home or away.

Make fun weekends. For Rutger(s) wife and daughter head to Frozen on Broadway while I head to Jersey for the game.

It's part of who you are, who makes you. Don't give up who you are.

WCBN is the student radio,…

WCBN is the student radio, and yes back in your day we did play by play for UM Football, hoops and hockey - I know as I did it from 91 - 95. A quick look on their website's schedule  and it doesn't appear they do anything other than music.

Pre-Big Ten Network there was a student TV Station too (WOLV-TV) that did games and other programs. Looks like it has all been taken over though now by the BTN

Good list...Boudro's is

Good list...Boudro's is awesome. They have the best guacamole and make it table side. Very nice!

The bar at The Menger Hotel is interesting. Across the street from The Alamo and rumor has it the bar (and hotel) are hunted. Also, Theodore Roosevelt used the Menger Bar as his  gathering / recruitment for the Texas Rough Riders.

It's a really interesting place.

I look at this as Gregg

I look at this as Gregg Marshall looking to get UM to schedule him in the OOC. Yes, WSU and UM both loss to L'Ville, but so did 4 other schools that year. Why not invite all 6 of those schools to a Thanksgiving Day tournament at LCPA. Now that could be more fun.

Not a bad field,

I, unfortunately, live in

I, unfortunately, live in Cedar Falls, IA and went to the Xavier at UNI game in Decmeber. Xavier was good, but watching them in person you could tell no way are they a Final Four team. UNC blew Michigan's doors off, Xavier couldn't. Now, Butler on the other hand...

Coach doesn't look happy

Coach is such a competitor. He is not a happy camper that UM lost to Rome. Fun to watch though.

Shameless Vacation Rental Plug

If you're heading to Maui check out the condos I own / rent on the Island, though they are in Waiela (30 minute drive): http://WaileaEkahiVillage.com. Also, my mother and I (and her father make 3 straight UM grad genereations) have 200+ condos listed for rent by owner all over Maui - we started before the likes of VRBO or AirBnB. Check those out, http://MauiOwnerCondos.com.

Shameless Plug Over.

For me, it is when any

For me, it is when any Wolverine leaves school early for the Pros. I'm happy for them as a person, and college should prepare you for your job. But, I get no money or satisfaction to see a pro team win or loss. But Michigan. I get massive statisfaction to see Michigan win in all sports. Thus I'd like all of our stars to stay for the full term. Imagine the Fab 5 for all 4 years... Woodson..... Romo stayed, and how fun was she to watch... Mike Comrie..... Oh well. Hope all Woleverines do well in their careers after college, just wish they'd all wear the maize and blue as long as they could.

Worst Big Ten...
1)

Worst Big Ten...

1) Northwestern is a joke. Very small and a pain to get into and out. Sure, the EL isn't too far away, but taking a bus back to the City is traffic armageddon.

2) High Point doesn't feel like a college stadium at all. No "campus" feel around.

3) Memorial Stadium (tie) both at Indiana and Illinois

4) Last time I was at Ohio Stadium was before the closed in the horseshoe. They had temporarly bleachers; those would move and sway all day, thought for sure they would come down.

Show me the money

Our office pool was small, but I did win the whopping $60!

Came in 4th in a larger pool, that paid top 3, danm it!

But that Kansas game......is

But that Kansas game......is sweet joy!

Yes, I do. A 10-year track

Yes, I do. A 10-year track record isn't mean to be broken often. Minnesota show 41 free throws tonight. The previous high in the last 10 years was 31. So yes, i think this was a little off.

As you can tell I don't talk

As you can tell I don't talk often here, but @AmayzNblue you're right. It's the same way I felt after the OSU Football game. Michigan should have / could have won both with a little better effort (no pick 6s in FB and mad FTs in BB) and the refs are non-issues. But boy, did it ever feel as if UM was playing 2 teams.

I'll be there

I'll be making the trip, and it will be historic personally!

By seeing Michigan play at Maryland with my Dad he and I will complete the schedule. Meaning we will have seen UM play at all 14 Big Ten Stadiums, plus ND and the Rose Bowl. The fun part too abotu this trip Dad and I have gone on is we were in Happy Valley for UM's first big ten game at PSU, ditto for Nebraska, Rutgers and now Maryland.

Looking forward to a fun trip, crab cakes and of course Yuengling too!

Go Blue!

Elle was Kate Upton before

Elle was Kate Upton before there was a Kate Upton. Oh, I had these girls all over my locker, and in my dreams. Kinda like Jimmy. IT'S HAPPENING!

I had no problem downloading.

I had no problem downloading. Now, of course my computer is probably hacked by EGD.

PSK - DD

If I remember right, the only

If I remember right, the only game Fisher's Fab 5 lost when up with 5 mins to play in a game was the National Title Game vs. UNC. Even though, Webber rebounds the ball, down 2 and with seconds left (with an open Rob Pelinka in the corner for 3) before he calls the famed timeout.

It will be tough for UM to

It will be tough for UM to win this BTT being in MSP and all. That said, I tihnk that UM will win their next two games and get into the final vs. the Gophers.

Today's 1st period may be the most important period of the season. Put PSU away early and don't step of the throat. No need for a bad bounce to ruin a weekend.

Yes, it's been out for

Yes, it's been out for sometime now.

Must win! UM fell to 15 in

Must win! UM fell to 15 in the Pairwise, and needs to keep their head above water here. Damn, those two loses to PSU really a big weight in our sinking NCAA  Boat.

iowa did it as well in the

iowa did it as well in the BTT many moons ago while Steve Alfrord was their HC.

36 degrees?? I can't wait!

36 degrees?? I can't wait! That is close to 20 degrees warmer than it was while I was freezing in Iowa City last week.

Not sure if I can name a best.

I've been lucky to go to a lot of away UM football games. Michigan is 1-1-1 when I've seen them play at the 'Shoe, so that one victory was pretty sweet. 1996 - Shawn Springs slips, and Tai Streets goes 80+ yarrds for a TD from Brian Greise, UM wins 10-9. That was the only TD of the day.

After that I go to the ND game in 1995. My senior year ay UM watching Remy Hamilton boot the game winner with seconds left to beat the Irish. (Watching UM beat Lou Holtz in his first game as good, as was the forementions 2006 ass-whipping).

Nebraska last year. Bad outcome, but Lincoln was a blast, and on Halloween (or close to it) it was a fun time. I look forward to heading back their and getting a W. Lincoln is now the only Big Ten Venue UM has not won at as a conference member, and i've seen UM win at each other B1G stadium, so this needs to get back on the list.

Penn State in 1997. "We Can't Hear You....." Sittind down near the field level with the orginal "Superfan" was awesome. ESPN's "Judgement Day" came and UM whipped PSU, boy that was a great time. Close 2nd here was UM's first ever trip to Happy Vallye in 1993. UM wins 23-17 I believe after stopping PSU on 1st and goal at the 1.

But the winner of my favorite road games has to be the Rose Bowl on January 1, 1998. Going out to Pasadena is a blast. Winning the Rose Bowl is sweet! But to win it, to WIN IT ALL was even better. National Champs! We drank bad champange on the beach in Santa Monica after that game. It was a high I want to feel again.

not sure how, but the OP

not sure how, but the OP missed out that this will be the first time in 23 years UM Hockey misses the NCAA tourney.....

Fred Jackson on Shane...
"Can

Fred Jackson on Shane...

"Can run like Denard, has the arm strength of Henne, the height of Navarre and reads a defnse like Brady. Expect he's better at all of this than those guys. Yeah, he's kinda good."

As they say, you can't have one without the other!

Congrats and Go Blue!!

So I watched these two

So I watched these two videos, what a waste of time. Actually, couldn't finish watching either one there were so bad. How he has so many hits on YouTube is beyond me. This is stuff terrible. As a mid- 1990s grad of UM I clearly am not his demographic.

Was at Sally's last night.

Awesome Brenni!!!

Enjoy the game. Be Loud for the Maize and Blue and remember to be a proud and respectful extension of the University of Michigan! I'll be in MSP as well for the game.

Go Blue!!

The end of the video was well

The end of the video was well played. Nice job.

Bottom line here is that

Bottom line here is that Nationally, this game is not that important vs. the other games of the day, or not that interesting. Nebraska vs. Northwestern the big guys at ABC Sports want more. Also, the BTN gets a few picks per year that they can go before the ABC pick. Perhaps - this is a game BTN wanted to show over the others - they knew there would be big interest in the UM side. Remeber, NBC's highest rated College Football game was UM @ ND this year - 1/2 of NBC's teams don't change - so we know that it isn't the Irish drawing the attention.

Ugh - that is terrible. I

Ugh - that is terrible. I still like that rock song from last year - In The Big House. Much better.
