Your Dream B1G Schedule
My buddy and I were talking about division realignment within the Big Ten yesterday and it made me start thinking about what my ideal Big Ten schedule would be. Criteria are nine games, no need to restrict to current divisions. My initial thought was just the original Big Ten, but then I think I like playing Penn State and Nebraska. In the end, I ended up with the below list of nine teams I'd like Michigan to play if I had to choose. Other thoughts?
Ohio State
Michigan State
Penn State
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Iowa
Minnesota
Illinois
Purdue
Tough final call between Purdue and Northwestern for me.
Go look at Minnesota's schedule. That is a dream B1G schedule.
Yes I know they aren't on our side, but it does not get any easier than what they have.
@Rutgers
Rutgers
Rutgers
@Rutgers
@Rutgers
@Rutgers
Rutgers
Rutgers
I thinks it's spelled Rutger
and you want to play them at "SHI Technology Solutions" Stadium a lot
My dream B1G schedule-
- 9/21 at Wisconsin- W
- 9/28 vs Rutgers- W
- 10/5 vs Iowa- W
- 10/12 at Illinois- W
- 10/19 at Penn State- W
- 11/2 at Maryland- W
- 11/16 vs Michigan State- W
- 11/23 at Indiana- W
- 11/30 vs Ohio State- W
- 12/7 B1G Championship- W
I'll blow up your idea, as I'm not sticking to 9 games.
Expand the season to 14 games. A full round robin conference schedule, no BTT game.
Week 1 = Non-Conference (maybe it has to be a "directional Michigan) but I'd love it to be a P5 School. As much as I like playing ND - until they join the conference full time I think all B1G teams should boycott playing them in any sport - yes they are a B1G member for hockey, so let them stay or kick them out.
Week 2 - 13 = Alternate with home / away with the remaining B1G Teams. I'd like MSU to be a mid October game, try to have it when the weather is good.
Week 14 = Ohio State
Why stop at 14? Let's make it 52 with games on Tuesday afternoons.
Simple, only 14 teams in the conference. Expand to 50+ and we can talk.
I would like to play Illinois/Rutgers a combined 7 times and then MSU and OSU.
While I don't think anyone can make a case for Rutgers or Maryland, I think we could swap NW and IU for Illinois and Purdue. I know it would be a shame to leave off our most bitter rivals but IU always seems to play us tough or rather we play down to them. And NW always seems on the verge of relevance until we smack Fitz & Co around.
MSU
OSU
Indiana
Purdue
Illinois
Northwestern
Minnesota
Iowa
Wisconsin
- OSU
- MSU
- PSU
- Wisconsin
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- Purdue
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Nebraska
- Maryland
- Northwestern
- Rutgers
- Notre Dame
- Texas
1) How much less could you care?
2) Fuck Texas. Selfish bastards (just ask every other school still in the Big 12 and Nebraska about them)
All home games besides Rutgers. Much more enjoyable beating in 2016 fashion at their place
Let's party like it's 1899:
Chicago
Illinois
Minnesota
Northwestern
Purdue
Wisconsin
Iowa
Indiana
I'll take any schedule that gets us to the B1G Championship.
The only scheduling thing I care about is getting MSU and OSU back where they belong, which is in A2 on alternate years.

How about the original Big Ten Schedule:
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Indiana
Illinois
Iowa
Michigan State
Northwestern
Purdue
Minnesota
You know, like the good old days...
Is Nikki Minaj considered B1G? If yes I'd like to start there.
Nikki Manaj-a-Trois?
Eliminate Rutgers. Everyone plays one non conference game and then 6 home and 6 away conference games. We finally get rid of schedule imbalance and have a true conference champion.
Hell, make it a double-elimination format for each division.
My dream schedule for Wisconsin is for them to play ALL the top teams and miss playing all the bottom dwellers, since that's only happened about twice in the last 25 years.
My dream schedule for Penn State is for Michigan and OSU to have bye weeks before playing them four consecutive years (a sort of role reversal for what JoePa requested when they joined the big ten.) Fuck Penn State.
My dream schedules for OSU and MSU don't matter. Provided they go 0-9, either by blowout or losing on the last play of the game every single week.
OSU
MSU
then the easiest remaining 7
Rutger
Illinois
Maryland
Indiana
Wisconsin
Northwestern
Minnesota.
Have to go with OP... win all these games & BIG Championship game and we’re in good shape for CFP.
Ohio State
Michigan State
Penn State
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Iowa
Minnesota
Illinois
Purdue
I still like playing OSU the last game of the year.
Any schedule where we act like we're the captains of our own ship, and win all of the games with sound technique and skill ~shoulder shrug~
