What should we do if Michigan has another season like last year?

Submitted by Jay-Z on
I was just wondering what we should do if we have another bad year? I do not think i could go through that again. My first game i ever watched was in 1969 and from then on i was a fan. Everytime i watched a Michigan game until last year i felt like we could win the game know matter who we played. I had this amazing confidence in our team. Although Michigan has had some terrible losses over the years they always seem to bounce back and get a great win or finsh with a strong season to give you that little bit of hope. When i watched a game last year i never felt that confidence that i once had. Now when i watch the games im in a complete state of fear. The current team has made me deeply saddened. I am shocked to see how 40 years of winning football has been erased in one year. Michigan football is getting farther away from what it used to be and there is nothing anybody can do about it. How do you guys feel about Michigan Football?

or an irrational Michigan fan. "I am shocked to see how 40 years of winning football has been erased in one year." You really think everything has been erased? If that were true, all the built in recruiting advantages would be gone too. Also, for my sarcastic answer. 1. Jump off the bandwagon and pick a new team. 2. Kill ourselves

but this year will be better primarily for two reasons: a year's experience, a qb who fits this system. If we have another 3-9 season, yikes! I can't even fathom it. I refuse to believe that could happen. Worst case scenario, we suck less than we did last year.

Remember what that Texas mother did to try to get her daughter on the cheerleader squad... Something inspired by that event would not be out of the realm of possibilities.

40 years of winning has been erased because of one bad season. No one will remember last season if RR starts winning 10+ games and taking Michigan to BCS games. Michigan went through a huge culture shock last year and the coaches and players did not adjust well to it. After two years of recruits and attrition RR has a lot of "his players" here. They may be young but there should be a considerable improvement year to year as the players gain experience.

...I've always done. Support the team. Go to games. Watch other college football too. Your post is ridiculous, no more so than to claim, as a poster named "Jay-Z," that you've been a Michigan fan for 40 years.

greatest university on the face of the planet. The reality is that RichRod has one full year of recruiting at the helm of M. He did manage to pull Barnum, Omameh, Shaw, Odoms, and Roundtree in his limited time after taking over the reigns. I would say that he has done exceptional on the recruiting trail and I fully expect to be back in a bowl game this year, contending for the Big 10 next year, and a perennial contender for BCS and NC after that.

This question is asinine. There's nothing we can "do" except continue rooting for our team... ...unless you're implying that we campaign to fire Rich Rodriguez. Which would be retarded. One bad season in 35 years and some of you guys go apeshit.

One of my students ends the day by telling us all to "Have a whimsical day!" So I'm gonna go with that. Whimsical. I'll feel whimsical. And also hungry.

I think I could sum up my feelings by writing an original song: I can't see 'em comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry I can't see 'em comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry Good dudes - I know you love me like cooked food Even though a nigga got move like a crook move We was together on the block since free lunch We shoulda been together havin 4 Seasons brunch We used to use umbrellas to face the bad weather So now we travel first class to change the forecast Never in bunches, just me and you I loved your point of view cause you held no punches Still I left you for months on end It's been months since I checked back in Well somewhere in a small town, somewhere lockin a mall down Woodgrain, four and change, Armor All'd down I can understand why you want a divorce now Though I can't let you know it, pride won't let me show it Pretend to be heroic, that's just one to grow with But deep inside a nigga so sick I can't see 'em comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry I can't see 'em comin down my eyes So I gotta let the song cry I can't see it comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry I can't see it comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry On repeat, the CD of Big's "Me and My Bitch" Watchin Bonnie and Clyde, pretendin to be that shit Empty gun in your hand sayin, "Let me see that clip" Shoppin sprees, pull out your Visa quick A nigga had very bad credit, you helped me lease that whip You helped me get the keys to that V dot 6 We was so happy poor but when we got rich That's when our signals got crossed, and we got flipped Rather mine, I don't know what made me leave that shit Made me speed that quick, let me see - that's it It was the cheese helped them bitches get amnesia quick I used to cut up they buddies, now they sayin they love me Used to tell they friends I was ugly and wouldn't touch me Then I showed up in that dubbed out buggy And then they got fussy and they don't remember that And I don't remember you.. I can't see it comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry I can't see it comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry Yeah I seen 'em comin down your eyes But I gotta make the song cry I can't see it comin down my eyes So I gotta make the song cry A face of stone, was shocked on the other end of the phone Word back home is that you had a special friend So what was oh so special then? You have given away without gettin at me That's your fault, how many times you forgiven me? How was I to know that you was plain sick of me? I know the way a nigga livin was whack But you don't get a nigga back like that! I knew that a troll or two would break through the walls of this place at some time or other. You can tell by the lack of facts, sensationalism, (...but how does it make you feel...")and ridiculous questions. All of the past wiped away by one season? This guy needs to go back to the freep. You're not wanted here, bub. He's just reinforcing for me how nice it is not to have to deal with people like this on a daily basis. This site is for Michigan fans only. You are just interested in stirring the pot. Real fans support the team no matter what.

...last year i felt like we could win the game know matter who we played. Maybe going into the game, but during the game, if the Bo's team got behind, it lost. During his heyday, his largest comeback was something like 7 to 10 points. Michigan football is getting farther away from what it used to be and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Don't you think that fans during the early '60's felt the same way about Fritz Crisler's teams from the '40's? Ditto during the last 4 years of Kipke's reign (10-22 record) in the late '30's regarding the Yost years? All programs have their down periods (even USC before Carroll). Michigan just hadn't gone through one for 40 years. It was 1 year, and we indeed may have another one. How do you guys feel about Michigan Football? Many have said that the program was becoming ossified, and this became most apparent in Lloyd Carr's last season (regarding your point of having a chance to win any game we played, the Oregon and OSU games were over after the 1st half that year). Additionally, the team's fundementals had deteriorated to such an extent after Bo retired that missed tackles and poor pursuit angles became the norm rather than the exception. Due to the number of scholarships allowed back in the 1970's, as well as money and facilities, Michigan had a tremendous advantage over most everyone other than ND and OSU. This advantage slowly eroded in the 1980's, and teams that were cannon fodder in the '70's became tough wins and occasional losses in the '90's and '00's. There was a decision that had to be made when Carr retired. Was the University satisfied with the state and direction of the program (internal hire) or not. The decision to hire RR was the right one, but it is going to take more than a few months to modernize the program.

It can't get any worse than last year: A new system, no QB, seniors causing a cancer on the team, a failed defense (which is partially RR's fault because he hired Shafer), young and inexperienced players etc... This year, the system won't be as new, players will be hungry, there will be a QB, the seniors are gone and a proven DC is guiding the defense.
