what if:chip kelly gets fired, which school does he go to?
i know its only 2 games but the eagles look really bad. With Chip Kelly cleaning house this past offseason all the blame will be on him if the eagles remain horrible this season. My question is if he is let go and he decides to go back to college what school do you think he ends up at? I could see Texas if they continue to struggle under Charlie Strong. what do you guys think.

Virginia is a program ripe for a good coaching hire. Mike London is the Hoke of UVA.

I get the feeling that most programs would fire their entire staffs to get a chance at Chip Kelly. My money's on Miami (YTM) or Texas.

Not that they're a viable candidate, but it seems to me that Illinois has underachieved for years. I believe if they could make the right hire, they should have the resources to build a competitive program (felt the same way about Minnesota for years pre-Kill).

But it would definitely be somewhere like Texas or Miami.

Arkansas or South Carolina.
One of those jobs might open next summer.

a huge ego as you report it to be doesn't coach at Oregon with hardly any history before him and then take the Philadelphia Eagles job. Your theory makes little sense.

Texas would fire Charlie Strong before Kelly was escorted out of the Eagles' facility.

Since 1990, only something like 11% of the NFL teams that start 0-2 make the playoffs.

If they beat Denver next week (yeah right!) they still have a chance.
If they go 0-3, well, I think only 3 teams have come back from that hole, including the 1995 Lions. So you should at least watch Denver smoke the Lions next before hanging it up for the season.

I bet Bishop Gorman outbids them all and makes history as the only high school to send one coach to college and take another one from the NFL!

Things would have to get REAL bad in Philadelphia for him to get fired this season. He's one of only three coaches in the league with full personnel control. That's a gesture from the Eagles ownership that says they plan to be in it for the long haul with him.

I don't get this stuff. Guy's only in his third year, and won double digit games both of the first two. What makes an NFL front office think it's worth the transaction cost to get another guy? Let him have some time to get a non-godawful QB in there, and see what he can do.
September 21st, 2015 at 12:52 AM ^
I agree he deserves a few years, but FWIW, he hand-picked the godawful QB he currently has.

He's done a major overhaul on most of their roster.

Kelly went 10-6 in each of his first two years. If the Eagles do end up firing him (still way too early to judge, there's 14 games left), he will get oher NFL offers.
Now, people will bring up the Harbaugh example of spurning the NFL for college, but the one difference here is that Harbaugh left the NFL to return to not only his alma mater, but the place where he grew up. If the Michigan job was not open at the end of last year, Harbaugh stays in the pros. Kelly is a native of New Hampshire and a UNH grad so I don't think there will be any similar sentimental pull for him to go back to college with the exception of going back to Oregon where there's unfinished business if you will.

He will be offered the job! Texas has the money to offer them something big. There are some Texas fans I know who think they will buy out Harbaugh from us!

Pain. Hopefully the ol' Texas faithfully get behind him.

Seriously? How delusional are these people? Though I guess people said that about the Michigan folk who always said we'd get Harbaugh. But, seriously. Come on.
