Perhaps it was something similar to Crist's "blurry vision" when they played Michigan. Obviously I hope it's nothing, but seems it might be precautionary for concussion. That's my best guess.

edit: sorry, took a bathroom break while writing and other people have suggested this further down.  Just interpet this as I'm agreeing with what they say

I posted in the "-4 TO" thread that I saw him, on the field, after the game, clapping and whooping it up.  No bandages or wraps on either hand.  ???

the fact that he was on the sideline, didn't leave at all, was quiet, didn't have any real physical trainer help - it seems like one of two things:

...AND THIS IS PURELY CONJECTURE...

1) head injury, ala concussion, so he doesnt go back in

2) disciplinary benching for some reason

I am having a vision of RichRod at QB recruits homes:

"Now son, I have to tell you that at Michigan we are operating at a 600 yard minimum expectation for our Quarterbacks or there will be consequences in playing time. We expect you to perform in your academics and socially but do not forget that if you sign that letter of intent there will be expectations...600...now give it some thought. Now, before I go I should let your parents know that Coach Jackson will be in touch with you with ongoing and effusive praise about your son.

This was what I kept telling the haters after our win that week.

ND's depth issues are not our problem. Michigan has 3 QBs it can win with. Why doesn't ND have 2?

Football is a team sport, and recruiting and developing depth, especially at critical positions like QB, is part of the game and something you have to account for.

I heard he didn't have enough christmas cheer, and refused to sing loud for all to hear.  Seeing as RR is a huge Santa supporter, he couldn't let that stand.

RR told Brandy on his post-game radio interview that Denard had a possible concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit on the last possession he was in for.  He was dizzy and light-headed.

Concussion? Eye? I don't know. He didn't go into the locker room though, so I think he'll be back next week. Even if not, Tate played well enough to win against a great defense- I think he'll be adequate against Purdue.

have been a concussion, cause I don't see why you would take him out of the game when had over 300 yards passing and was just starting to get loose running the ball. If not RR would have his head called for....imagine that!!

I'm really proud of our team and coaches. There were so many times when it felt like last year (if not last years game against Illinois), like the team was collapsing, like sloppiness and poor decision making were going to doom all of their strides once again. But they never gave up. Even with Denard out, and Tate fumbling his first play, the offense never gave up. Even after failing to diagnose a misdirection play for the third time, the defense never gave up. The team played their hearts out through three overtimes and it showed. They deserve this win more than any team I can remember. I'm proud that we got to share it with them too.

then kudos to RR who benches his star player in a must win game that's extremely close. His job is on the line and still benches Denard for his own safety. Screw the Freep who contended RR created an atmosphere that was bad for his players

I was thinking the same thing earlier.  Denard never looked hobbled and I worried that he may have gotten concussed.  If that's true, then I am extremely impressed.  People like to think of RR as a hick, but the man took out his star QB in a must-win situation with his own job on the line.  Taking into account Brian Kelly putting back in Crist against us and how Gary Patterson supposedly had a tiff with the team physician over benching Andy Dalton, that's just really impressive.

Kudos indeed, and get better soon to Denard.
