Week 2: Best thing you saw...
Thanks all for sharing last week.
Though not many marquee games this week, and a few still going on, some great stuff already...
1) Best of the best for me, seeing Ret. Lt. Col. Charles Kettles introduced in the Big House. Awesome to see the vets and first responders rise in the first half.
2) Hats off to the Chips. Officiating aside, players gotta play and they executed a great play at the end of Ok St game.
3) SEC hate aside, and no thoughts on the winner, but the 4th quarter and OT of TCU-ARK was exceptionally entertaining.
Best things from this week for you?

I will be honest, when ESPN threw that announcement on the ticker that the outcome of the game would not be changed, I laughed pretty hard. I can recall many games that ended on a fluke that may have sprung from a slightly warped or inaccurate interpretation of the rules, but I cannot recall the team that got hosed on those play ever getting a win or loss added or subtracted later on based on any appeal or whatever. Why ESPN thought there might be some doubt is something I will never know.

A lot of people were actually quite convinced that the NCAA would award OK St. the win. Some still are despite it being said in multiple places by those who know better than they won't open that can of worms.
So, unfortunately, yeah that ticker was probably necessary.

I must have watched a different game, but putting up 51 points is good. Outside of 5 plays where our D over-pursued and UCF got big running yardage, we did a good job.
Also, Harbaugh looked like he wanted to get the passing game going to get some experience for this young starter. 300+ yards is good for a second start.

Remember FSU's title defense year?

Well, the ACC for one. But my point was that FSU started highly ranked, fucked around literally all season, but did win every game and so made it to the playoff.

Chips no doubt. That finish was just insane.
BYU coach showed guts going for 2 FT....L.
TCU-Arkansas game was great. Frogs should never have lost, but Bielema's 2 pt. double-reverse RB pass was inspired.
TT, Oregon, and Fightin' Richrods playing at the same time - impossible to keep track of all the scoring and complete and utter lack of defense. But fun!

Why so much Musberger hate? Yeah, he's 146 yrs old, but he can still talk (unlike other 180 yo's that wouldn't retire until too late - looking at you, Holtz). His signature call - "you are looking live at ..." is iconic, and signified one of the premier games of the week back in his prime. He's no Keith Jackson, but he wasn't bad.
Hate him if you must, but I just don't get it - is there a particular reason?

some team would fail to convert a 3rd and 7 in the first quarter and have to punt, and fuss-budget would use his gravest of tones to say, 'remember that third down folks. it could be the one that seals team X's destiny!'
and since he never played any sports, probably not even kick ball in grade school, it is a joke when he starts to comment on any X's and O's part of the game or the physicality of it all.

I didn't use an insult.
I just told the truth. Insulting someone by changing their name is corny.
Suckeyes, that shit you said...that shit lacks imagination and is soooooooo lame.
I didn't use an insult when responding to you, if you were insulted, well...sounds like a personal problem to me.

Still won't forgive him pulling out in front of us in Ann Arbor back in the 90s and when we honked at him, he pointed to the ABC placard on his car and flipped us the bird.

It's only two games against bad competition but Wilton Speight doesn't look like a drop off from late season Rudock. Harbaugh is the quarterback whisperer.

Whoever the competition is, you still have to put the ball in the right place.

Knowing one game Michigan ran for 300 yards and one game they threw for 300 yards is pretty great.
Also, for anyone insecure about running into a stacked box. Alabama ran for 3.2 ypc today and their leading rusher had a whopping 45 yards on 11 carries against Western KY.
Clemson ran for 3.8 ypc and their leading rusher was their QB who went 10 carries for 55 yards and their actual starting RB had 9 carries for 34 yards. Against Troy.
Lastly, not as highly rated, but the best rushing performance relative to the team's I mentioned, Georgia couldn't muster a single 100 yard back against Nicholls as Chubb was held to 4 ypc and 80 total yards.
Great teams (certainly Bama and Clemson have been and Georgia is no slouch) can win a variety of ways. Michigan threw for 300+ yards sending a message to opponents that stacking the box might be too risky.

This season will have its share of turbulence. What fun would it be if it didn't!?

The 3 best alternative helmets of the past few years are all service academies. Army had the ultracool camouflage helmets (should be used as their regular ones). Navy had the hand-painted ones with ships last year, where diff positions had diff types of ships. And AFA has these unbelievable shark helmets. No one else has touched these 3 works of art.
