Washington WR injury statuses

As I'm sure you are all well aware, UW is down 4 of their top receivers: Terrell Bynum, Jalen McMillan, and Rome Odunze were already out entering week 1, then they lost Ja'Lynn Polk against Montana.

According to a UW insider($), there are rumblings inside the program that Bynum will be active for tomorrow, and Jalen McMillan posted a picture to social media on the plane headed to Michigan. Nothing concrete, but I'm sure the plan was to hold them out of the Montana game to get them ready for UM. I won't be surprised to see them on the field come Saturday night.

My understanding was at least 1 of the WRs was out for the year or at least a significant amount of time. Has there been any talk about the 4th guy in this group? 1 is unaccounted for unless I'm not remembering things correctly.

Ja’Lynn Polk is out for the year.  Terrell Bynum is their number 1 WR and he is rumored to be back for the Michigan game but still up in the air.  Rome Adunze is expected to miss a few more weeks.  Jalen McMillan I haven't seen any updates on but could be back.

Sounds like they will be without 2 of their top 4 WR's for sure and then the other 2 are still up in the air.

"Practice" would be a generous word for it. Walk throughs are pretty much that, walking through stuff. Nobody's running full speed or whatever

I wouldn't read much into who is on the field during a walk through. Especially game-time decision type stuff, they'd be out there for the walk through but then get the go/no-go during warm ups on Saturday

Something that I'm not seeing talked about, and I'm certainly hoping it is an advantage for Michigan, with a home game at night, in a maize out...Washington's last road game was in 2019 (none last year or so far this year). Plus this will be their sophomore quarterback's first career road start.

He wasn't reading defenses well last week. He threw some dangerous passes. There was no air about him of having a grasp. There were a couple nice plays. But I don't know if he's ready to start really.

I still think HC Chris Peterson leaving before 2020, and DC Pete Kwiatkowski leaving at the end of 2020 is having a deep effect on the team. It's hard to replace people like them.

A lot of pundits are saying that Washington will stay in this and the good money is on them to at least cover. They said we won't be able to run and the wind will play a factor.

Sigh... Need to sew some doubt I guess.

Montana rushed for 127. I didn't look up the size of Montana's O Line, but Michigan's is likely bigger. Also, I don't think Montana has 3 backs like Haskins/Corrum/Edwards. I think Corrum is still spreading his wings. With how Washington's QB is playing, Washington might be punting fairly often. Wear em down with the run, like they did to Western.

It was mentioned in FFFF that they never rotate their 300+lb DTs at all throughout the game. If we can move the ball somewhat well to start the game, those two will be gassed as all hell by the fourth quarter and we can just ram it down their throats.

I fully expect UW to come out strong. I expect them to stymie the UM offense and for it to really feel like “gut check time” the first 1-2 quarters.

What I want to see is a mentally strong and capable UM keep their heads in the game and compose themselves and pull away.

This game (and I think early on) we will get an indication of how much all that “we have a new culture” talk is real.

Fully expecting all of them to have career nights and Giles Jackson to get the game ball with 300 all purpose yards and 3 TDs, including the game winner, because of course that would happen.

I think Clinkscale's/ Bellamy's crew improved throughout the game last week. I think they got a solid foothold of confidence from that. They may come out looking for things like bat downs, picks, coverage sacks, and such.

Listened to Sean McDonough on ESPNU radio. He’s calling the game tomorrow and said only one of the receivers will be back tomorrow from what he was told by the coaching staff.

FWIW (based on per game stats from 2020)…. Giles Jackson, “Corn-John”, and Ronnie Bell all had better stats than UW’s #1 returning receiver - (catches per game and yds per Catch) - Roman Wilson’s 2020 was comparable to their #2.

The only pass catcher of note is the TE Otton who hit for 4.5 catches at 14yds a pop last year.
