very OT: Mustard Skittles: would you eat them?

Submitted by MGoBlue-querque on July 27th, 2023 at 9:28 PM

In honor of the upcoming "National Mustard Day" (August 5), Skittles and French's have teamed up to create a limited edition candy, Mustard flavored Skittles. I don't think I'll be finding any of these out here in the desert SW, but if you happen upon a bag, would you eat them? I'd give them a try if I could...

Weird. I think if one was placed in front of me I'd try it for curiosity's sake, but I wouldn't seek them out. My main question is are the sweet like normal skittles? Hard to see mustard and sugar going together

I love honey mustard sauces but honey is not sugary like a skittle, and also I don't really use yellow mustard for a honey mustard. I think part of the weird thing about a mustard skittle is that you don't normally eat mustard on it's own, even in normal form

I'd try it. Not much different from those weird Jelly Belly flavors, including buttered popcorn. Not to mention the BeanBoozled flavors. Always fun to start playing with the kids when they get the nasty flavors, never fun when you get Dead Fish, Stink Bug, or Barf.

Hmmm...

I think I would be tempted to create a sauce for pork that used them for some crunch and add a vinegar and chile pepper component.

Kind of pay homage to a carolina mustard sauce.

So, yes I'd go for it.

Yes.  No question.  The Spicy Mustard Doritos that came out earlier this summer were straight fire. No Cap.  I ate an entire bag of them, paid the price later, but enjoyed every second of it.
