Update on Livers' status

Maybe good news?

A source tells me that Isaiah Livers’ injury today was not an exact repeat of the groin injury. It is, in fact, an injury to the upper/inner leg/hip area — not the groin.

Livers is sore, but this does not appear to be another significant injury.

I sure hope they weren't toying with us because if Livers played instead of having to sit, then that was a win for us, totally changed how that game was going at that point.

But even wirh that being said, this team has to hit their fucking FT's, FFS. Wagner and Simpson really hurt us late in that game, so frustrating.

From a game theory standpoint, dunks are overrated and mainly just showboating.  The crowd likes it, the player gets to show off athleticism, and it can sometimes alter momentum, but the risk of doing it wrong (injury or just missing an easy 2pts) is not really worth it.  Easy layups are better.

If he actually isn’t significantly hurt and will be back soon, then I wouldn’t hate Howard telling him to not try those fast-break dunks anymore. His last two have each resulted in injury. The next one may very cost him his season (not to mention his ability to go pro this year).

I'm a bit confused/concerned about putting him back in just for the OOB play.  If he was too injured to keep playing, why not just keep him benched the whole game?  Unless he's the one with the best arms/accuracy to get the ball in, why risk anything?  Unless, you just want to show he's relatively ok - but why then?  Of course, he could have known that it was serious and he may not see the court again in his college career - maybe just wanted his last play to be something else besides falling down.

Whatever the reason, very odd.

Unless he's the one with the best arms/accuracy to get the ball in

That’s 100% the case. He pitched in high school. He was the inbound man on both the pass to MAAR that resulted in him making 2 FTs at the end of the game (sigh...remember when players could do that) to beat Maryland and on the Poole buzzer beater to beat Houston.

Crying on the bench has nothing to do with the severity of an injury? It usually just means they're frustrated

You didn't see Grant Newsome crying when he left the field, and he nearly lost his leg. Contrast that with the MSU Ahrens brother acting like he's about to have life saving surgery writhing on the floor in pain and then coming back in ten minutes later
