All announcers kind of suck for the same reasons but Gus and Joel are the best duo in CFB right now, IMO.
The two last night were fucking awful. Boring, didn't know the rules, didn't seem to understand basic strategies, repeatedly commented only to immediately be proven wrong, way too much unwarranted snark (again, immediately proven wrong), etc.
I'm all for announcers being given the freedom to call some shit out, something that has clearly changed over the years. But now they've all become talking heads, who can be the most "right" about bad officiating or bad coaching. Its tedious because 99% of the time its fucking John Madden level analysis.

Frames won a big game against OSU, floated the idea of another team poaching and got a big contract. He can recruit but cannot coach Then rightfully went on to have lousy seasons against UM and OSU.
Mel beats UM twice (one COVID year and one gifted by refs with once in a life time RB that he didn't have to develop), floats the idea of being poached and got a big contract. He can recruit (we will see if their recruiting tanks in the next month) or at least get some players from portal. Then goes on to lose to the rival in a beat down and was also beat down by OSU. Best part, he can't coach up DBs....
