Sounds like Braden could end up inside or outside.
I believe Braden is a combo OL where he can move to guard if necessary. If you take in 3 more OT, you can move Braden to guard. The staff has said multiple times that they hope to get 5-6 OL for this class, so it seems perfectly plausible.
what i meant. i do read his posts, and ive been paying attention to it. rather then saying "addressed" i really just shoudlve said "i am anxious to see what happens with the OL and DT". i do realize we are in on some very good talent, and i AGREE the staff has done a great job.
im simply, (like a lot of people) ANXIOUS to see some of those positions and how they shape up in the future.
is that better? seems like a lot of angst on here today!
is very often full of angst. I wouldn't take it personally. There was nothing wrong with what you said and most have here have the comprehension skills to have understood what you meant.
I think we need 2 more DTs, and at least one DE.
I'll take both Wormley and Washington, if I can get both.
"i would love to see the OLine and DT addressed"...its not like Hoke and his staff haven't offered quality kids on both sides of the ball, we just have'n received commitments at a flurry pace compared to other positions. Tom's weekly address quite a few quality prospects that we are in good standing with. I think we as fans need to really breath, back in early spring we we worried with the lack of commits, then it shifted to gaining commits too fast. I trust the coaches to eye talent and to get them blue, all will work out in due time.
as i replied above, i am more so anxious to see what the future commitments at those positions end up like.
i realize the staff has addressed it, i just am excited to see which guys choose M and when. thats all...
You'd like to see two offensive guards, two tight ends (one of whom may end up as an OT), and three defensive linemen commit more than EIGHT MONTHS before NSD?
/I Dream of Jeanie arm-fold-head-nod thing
Done.
Is there still a silent commit out there from someone (not saying it necessarily is or was Morgan)?
I'd rather have him wait to announce than announce to appease us.
Appease me, damnit!!!
Tom, can you address the rumors of his coaches trying to delay his announcement so that they can get a bit more attention around their program?
Tom could address that honestly and maintain his professional integrity?
How many dumb questions like the one above can you field before you put a bullet in your head?
Well, obviously, if Tom aspires to be just like Drew Sharp then he has some tough decisions to make, doesn't he?
I can see why he's torn between Michigan and Rutgers. Wait.....what?
He grew up in New York. He's not a Michigan Message Board Guy. He's not an obsessive college football fan who is a total dork.
It's the most important decision of his life so far.
Michigan has been crap plately.
The NFL will find you no matter where you play.
He has family, you know, the thing most dorks here pretend is so important. He might want to be closer to his, you know, FAMILY--the thing most dorks here pretend is so important to them.
Someone is ornery today
I don't think he's "torn" about anything. His coaches are the ones who convinced him to take all of his visits, thus why he's delaying his announcement more than a few days.
I also hope you consider yourself a dork, considering you're constantly trolling on here.
I think your material has lost some of its edge since the Barking Sphincter days.
Right, Mike Hart from NY saw the light. Michigan even as bad as we have been the last 3 years is a better option than fucking Rutgers. Please. Either or Im not going to sweat it if he goes elsewhere. We have been kicking ass in recruiting for a reason. Others have seen why Michigan is the place to be. Other have NOT.
Still a good start for the month of June. The staff got Gant & Standifer on board. We'll see what happens.
It would be a shame if someone else took Morgan's spot while he waits.
A little perspective for some of you. What most likely happened is his coach told him he should use his officials, to if nothing more, see a few new places. It's a good and once and a life time experience for a kid and it gets paid for by other people. Recruiting has become a pain in the ass for top prospects, why not enjoy some of the spoils before comitting verbally?
I'm just curious what changed so dramatically over the last few days... Is it really for the coaches or is someone else trying a power play last minute?
...take a few days to make a life altering decision!
Doesn't he understand his commitment will give me at least 5 minutes of satisfaction?
You guys are reading too much into the wording of announcement and decision. I was told today [not by Wayne] that there's a good chance he'll be taking all of his official visits now.
He's going to take his time because this is the biggest decision of his life, and he has city championships, then states for track coming up. To me it sounds like he's wavering, otherwise there's no other reason to delay the announcement. Timing or scheduling issues would mean they have to hold off on an announcement, wanting to make sure this is the right decision means there's something else, typically.
Like I have said before none of this is 100% yet. It's all up in the air right now, and I really don't think he knows what he wants yet.
If he's going to take his official visits, then he's 99% not coming to Michigan. Onto the next recruit.
Why do you say that? Do you think Michigan has left to offer than everyone else? Do you think Michigan's academics are worse? I don't get it.
This sounds like an MSU fans line of thinking.
IMO, if Wayne Morgan DOES visit other places then chooses them over us, the good for him. And our internal program needs to know why and fix it.
Again, IMO, i think he looks around, compares, and sees Michigan is the best. Now, by that time, his spot may be taken and he cannot verbal to us, but at least let the kid compare.
Thanks for all the updated information Tom. You definately help us to get the inside scoop on what the recruits are really thinking.
Tom, if we assume that Wayne was the "silent" commit, has he taken back that "silent" commitment? I don't want to compromise anything that you can't say, but was just wondering if the silent commit is still viewed as a commit by himself or the UM staff. I appreciate all the info that you share and any light you can shine on the situation! THANKS!
Yes, and pretty much. Probably over with.
Thank you for the reply and for all the information you pass on!
However, given our current recruiting situation re: DB commits already, any kid in his situation who wants to take more time—especially if he waits until an all-star game—shouldn't be thought of as a lock for UM, because he's willing to take the chance that the final DB spot will be filled by another guy.
that the vast majority of the posters here believed was the case a while back. If he is, in fact, the silent commit, my limited understanding of the process leads me to believe that his roster spot is secure. Perhaps he is already in the fold and is appeasing his current coaches by allowing a little extra attention to come his way.
I imagine the UM coaching staff will relay the exact message you laid out to Morgan. It seems unlikely that they would hold a spot for him until the AA game (which is in January, IIRC) and will aggressively recruit other players for the final DB spot in the class. At this point, I just assume Morgan will probably NOT be a part of UM's class if he chooses to wait until January to announce.
Dear Wayne:
Don't let us drive you crazy. We love you already, so of course we'd like you to come to Ann Arbor and are confident you would feel right at home.
(Okay, so that's the law quad. But not far from the stadium...)
You, your coaches and ours know what's going on as far as the time line. But do what's best for you.
Regards,
Patient and Understanding Fans
We have many needs yet and one place where we have a number of athletes is the secondary. Maybe the staff is waiting to see how the rest of the class fills out before taking another DB.
Everything I've read suggests it isn't a numbers issue. More that either his coaches or family (or both) want him to take more time and make sure he's making the right decision.
Let's not forget that he also has offers from Bama, Miami(FL) and PSU which to my knowledge he has not visited yet. If I were in his shoes I would want to explore all my options as well, especially having the opportunity to play at four prominent national programs
It's a huge decision and if he wants to take some officials to make sure it's best for him then that's what he should do. Unfortunately this probably means he won't be coming here because of the impending increase in attention of other schools and our current scholarship situation with DB's. Hoke isn't going to turn down one of the dozen 4/5 star DB's we are recruiting if they decide to commit before Morgan. And recruiting 5 DB's wont happen unless there's attrition this summer/fall or another DB decommits, I find it hard to believe that Hoke would be comfortable having roughly 20% of his squad being all DB types.
I think we're all forgetting he's a silent commit here. he has his spot he just needs to announce.
anymore...
If he waits, likely he is not coming here, not because we don't want him, but because of realities.
Either way, I wish the kid the best.
