TMD: Brian Cook's Brother, Everett, Catches Up With Lloyd Brady

The only line I take umbrage with:

TMD: It’s funny that he said you looked like Lloyd Brady because—

DK: I know. Lloyd Brady isn’t an actual person.

The next thing they're gonna tell me is that Santa isn't real.

Note: I'm banking on a 4% probability that Everett truly is Brian's long-lost younger brother.

I would love to hear how he makes that relevant to the traits the job requires. I am not saying he can't make it work. I'd just love to hear how he ties it in.

Easy.  It could be related to how he embraced his college experience and made the most of it, both in and out of the classroom.  It could be about how he had the ability to turn something potentially negative or personally overhwhelming into a very positive outcome.  It could be about how he uses that experience as a vehicle to relate to and connect with the kids he is teaching/coaching.

I think it's smart of him to bring this up in interviews, provided he does it the right way (and given how well-spoken and well-adjusted he seems, not hard to imagine).  This is and absolutely and truly unique experience.  Everyone can talk about being in a frat/sorority or campus faith/ethnic group, or whatever.  VERY few can credibly talk about being an internet meme.

Also, did he ever make any money on the Lloyd Brady shirts?  Not that I'm asking Brian et al to disclose this, but I would assume he got some "royalties" or something for the use of his image.  Just sayin'.

the two names being the Christian names of the two head coaches framed around the RR era is always the part I feel that gets overlooked in the perfection of the name Lloyd Brady.

Than I'm Brian's sister, which would really cause some heads to explode around here.

....

Lisa Simpson: That's right. A girl who wants to play football. How about that?
Ned Flanders: Well, thats super-duper, Lisa. We've already got four girls on the team.
Lisa Simpson: You do?
Ned Flanders: Uh huh. But we'd love to have you on board!
Lisa Simpson: Well... football's not really my thing. After all... what kind of civilized person would play a game with the skin of an innocent pig?
Ned Flanders: Well, actually, Lisa, these balls are synthetic!
Janey Powell: And for every ball you buy, a dollar goes to Amnesty International!
Lisa Simpson: [crying] I've gotta go!

That was a pretty cool interview. I actually really thought the answer to the final question was well-put too - when he talks about Michigan, he is someone who indeed has a very interesting story about his time on campus and his accidental celebrity.

Someone above mentioned it already, but I would also be intrigued as to how this comes up in interviews and how he manages to tie it into anything, or if it is just an anecdote in the conversation with the interviewer typically. That in itself seems like a fascinating read if it ever happens to become an article.

Jeff Daniel's son was on my buddies hockey team.  He also shot the movie "Super Suckers" about 8 houses down from where my mom used to live in Jackson.  Nothing relevant about what I am saying, other than, well Jeff Daniels kind of seems to just show up places.

That is just too funny. Like some celebrity.  "You look like someone famous..." "I'm XXX" "No, you don't look like him, someone else."

I'm glad it worked out for him. I was a little worried at the beginning, but between the Blog steering it the right way, and him being the perfect guy with the perfect attitude for it to happen to, it all worked out.

I know. Lloyd Brady isn’t an actual person.
He may not be an actual person, but he is the embodiment of an ideal, a philosophy. There once was a dream that was Lloyd Brady. You only had to whisper it and it would vanish, it was so fragile. We are all Lloyd Brady.

Completely random non-thread related thought:

If you grew up in Michigan why would you choose to root for Sparty over Michigan?  The only thing I can think of is if you are raised that way, but if you had the choice....Why?

I have plenty of friends growing up in Ann Arbor who I used to spend my childhood with religiously going to and watching Michigan athletics. Some of them went to MSU and came back 4/5 years later completely green and white brainwashed. Most of my other friends who went to other schools (some of which with very good athletic programs, including a few Buckeye alums) were still huge Michigan fanatics. Must be something about the water in EL...

So did he have to stand in the GA line at 8 AM to get front row seats, or is he so popular that they bring him down to the front each game?  If so, that makes it all worthwhile right there.
