"They are who we thought they were"
As Nebraska continues to beat the hell out of Sparty I sit back and reflect on how many oppurtunities we blew against those schmuks, but that games in the past. With seeing this im assuring myself about how bad Msu is on the road Im not to worried about winning the legands divisions. They still have Iowa and NW on the road. We are alot better than alot of people on here say, I dont see any reason why we dont win the rest of our games....especially with the toguhest of them being played at home where were lights out....G.B.O.D

It can be part of explaining a loss, but a loss that thorough cuts much deeper. Stupid trash tornado.
October 29th, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
Why we continued to force the throw in a trash tornado, when we should have beat them on the ground like Nebraska did ... especially on 4th and 1.
October 29th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
If we can beat Iowa and Nebraska and Sparty loses to Iowa, we’re going to the championship game. I think the players are going to be fired up next week.
October 29th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
Means we are not in the drivers seat..
October 29th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
for sure this week because the Okies and the Juco happy KState play each other today. Baylor could potentially upset Okie State because OSU lets everybody put up at least 4 scores on them. Even in wins I can see Arkansas, VTech, and A&M dropping a few spots (or at the least not improving in the standings) due to the poor quality of their wins against unranked teams. Obviously Sparty lost today (yay!) and (depending on how Wisco responds in Columbus) Michigan could greatly improve in the BCS standings this week and help our tiebraker status for division champs. We should be ranked somewhere between 14 and 11 by tomorrow. We still need to beat Nebraska to win the head to head battle.
October 29th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
BCS standings won't matter unless there is a crazy 4 way tie or something. MSU has tiebreaker over UM. Neb has breaker over MSU. Only way we come out in top is for us to win out and MSU to lose again. If we won put we'd have all tiebreakers except MSU.
October 29th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
in the event of a three way tie, it says you look at the following in order:
-
- The records of the three tied teams will be compared against each other
- The records of the three tied teams will be compared within their division
- The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5, and 6)
- The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
- The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big Ten regular season conference play shall be the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game, unless the two highest ranked tied teams are ranked within one spot of each other in the BCS poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the Big Ten Championship
- The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative
- The representative will be chosen by random draw.
My question is, for 1 it just says "the records" but doesn't say if that is overall records or just conference records. Which is it?
October 29th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
It goes Conference Records first. So unlike what the announcers said during today's Michigan game, if both us and MSU win out they get the nod because we'll have given Neb their second conference loss, knocking them out of the 1 loss ties.
October 29th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
So if I'm reading that right, if there were a three way tie the only way MSU would top us is if they're ranked within one spot of us in the BCS. Awesome. Lets go Blue!

a Stanford/USC overtime or a Wisco loss, or a Clemson blowout. Michigan v PSU in the B1G Championship? THAT'S why we play the game.

Tulip Boy reminds me of the kid in grade school who was always kissing the teacher's ass, or the clown in college who always showed up wearing a shirt and tie to "show his respect for the instructor".
I, for one, will not miss his pontificating.

Don't you mean the Northwest division?
October 29th, 2011 at 6:04 PM ^
Am I who I think you are?
October 29th, 2011 at 6:07 PM ^
Be less concerned with how MSU performs on the end of a 4 ranked opponents stretch and more concerned with the fact that we have to play the team that did that.
October 29th, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
If we can beat the Husker's and Sparty loses to @Iowa most likely or @NW...I think we are golden

Who in the **** is in the legands division?
October 29th, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
Ohio St is making me increasingly more nervous. Their defense is still solid and their offense is becoming less derpy every week. I'm afriad they're going to stifle our offense ala MSU.
WTF is up with the big ten. It's like no one wants to win the conference
October 30th, 2011 at 10:19 AM ^
...but the national media is already making excuses for Sparty:
From Steve Megargee at Rivals:
The designers of Michigan State's schedule: Michigan State's schedule forced the Spartans to face Big Ten heavyweights Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska in successive weeks. It was inevitable that Michigan State wouldn't make it through that grind without suffering a letdown. The Spartans managed to win the first three games in that demanding stretch, but after an emotional victory over Wisconsin last week, they came out flat against Nebraska.
That's funny. I always thought one had to beat the best to be the best.
