Team Meeting Today....What Could Happen?

My first thread...so don't be too harsh on me. ;) I didn't see anything referencing the team meeting today. If so, the mods can go ahead and delete this. A couple of questions from me:

  • Any idea when this meeting is supposed to take place?
  • Rumors have been floating that it is possible that Hackett could tell team who's their next coach. You think that it is likely or unlikely? (i.e. wait until next Tuesday before the the BB game to announce to the team)
  • This kind of goes with the question above, any chance that the coach himself could talk to the team via teleconference? 

 

Just seeing what everyone's thoughts are on this and anything else relating to the team meeting today.

I heard Sarah Harbaugh bought a big cake today, so something must be going on.

In all seriousness, it is a team tele-meeting (everyone is home by now) and I doubt he tells them via video conference.

It's a call in meeting (or maybe video meeting, like Skype) for the players and Hackett.  I think he will tell them exactly where they are at.  There are rumors already floating around that the deal is done, so if it's the case then I'm sure he will tell the players that.  If the deal is done, expect the news to leak out soon after.  Hard to tell 120 18-22 year olds to keep a secret.

I believe there is another teleconference scheduled for like the 29th. I would assume this would be where any announcement is made. 

Even if everything is set, it doesn't benefit Harbaugh in his last game for it to come out today.

there will certainly be a press conference in SF shortly thereafter.  I could understand wanting the players to be the first to officially hear, but it wouldn't do to let things linger out west for more than a couple hours.   

I think we're still waiting till the 28th or 29th if we're getting him.  (I remain doubtful, but hopeful).

are prepared to follow that up with a press conference.  We are however now less than a week away from getting Harbaugh and watching Narduzzi walk on MSU and take some coaches with him.   These are nice things.

Everyone knows who the big fish is. Hackett will probably just tell them things are going well without naming names, and to sit tight for a few more days. The players can't report anything bc nothing specific was said, but they know and it keeps them from looking for transfer spots and so on.

If there truly is a Team meeting. 

They are home for the winter hols, so just touching base....things are going well....don't listen and get caught up in the media hype and such. Enjoy the time with family etc.

I'm sure there will be a bunch of knuckleheads that will start poking around and trying to get players to talk etc. 

Hopefully ppl leave them alone.

The bullets made it quite easy to read. I would imagine there will be no specific details mentioned since it would be far too probable a very excited player could potentially make a social media post that blows the lid off this thing. It would likely just be some non specific talk about how the process is coming.

AD told the team he would keep in regular scheduled contact with the players individually and collectively.  Pretty sure the kids have one next week as well already set (don't ask too much of the kid but I did glean this from some quick conversations).

Doesn't mean that if there is breaking news it won't be shared but Hackett seems to be very buttoned-down about mainting communication with the players.

I think Hackett will make it known who plans A, B, C, and D are. Then he'll probably give an idea of what the chances are of said candidates taking the job. Then he'll wish everyone Happy Holidays and dismiss them.

I highly doubt Hackett tells the team specific details, considering the measures the department has taken to protect any information from leaking. He is dealing with 90+ 18-22 year olds in the height of social media usage. 

My guess is he tells the team specific dates that they will be notified of the decision, ie. December 30, Jan 1st or Jan. 2nd.

I think the only way he would tell them that they are getting Harbaugh is if it is actually a done deal and he plans to announce it to the public later today (which I highly doubt will happen).  With social media, you can't tell an entire team to keep a secret for a week.  I'd expect that all he's going to say is encouraging but very vague comments to keep them excited and feeling like they are in the mix but not reveal anything.

I dont expect anything to be announced today because until the 28th is over there is not going to be anything official.  So just be patient - its not that far away.

Can't imagine Hackett would announce JH as the new coach.  Someone would tweet that out before they left the building.  I'm sure he'll be ambiguous and say something like, "You will have a new coach in a few days.  We will let you know exactly who at the appropriate time.  Go home.  Enjoy your families and Merry Christmas."

Hackett committed to weekly meetings with the team during the coaching search, so this is as scheduled.  I'm guessing that since Hackett is smart and prudent, he isn't going to say "We got Harbaugh you guyz!" unless it's a 100% done deal (which it isn't yet).

So I think he will update the team on the fact that they have narrowed in to a final candidate, dealing with contract details, and as he told them before, he will have a coach for them by New Years.
