@Kyle_Feldscher: Taylor Lewan faces a charge of aggravated assault and two charges of assault and battery. Arraignment on 4/8
One month to the day before the NFL Draft.
So he played in the bowl game after this and after the witness threatening in the Gibbons sexual assault case.
Awesome.
Why? You don't think Lewan getting arrainged on three charges a month before the draft won't have an impact on teams thinking of drafting him? Its one thing to tell teams you had nothing to do with it and were just breaking up a fight and another to have the police charge you with three misdemeanors.
If they found out, they weren't doing their homework on draft. I'm willing to bet that it does not surprise them.
Everyone knew about it, he was asked about it multiple times in interviews with teams, and his answers were all widely reported. I'm just saying there's a difference between knowing about it, asking him about it and getting his explanation, and then having the police actually charge him with something. Up until then, its all something that might just go away with no charges filed. Now, its something else and teams are left to wonder whether or not Lewan is lying to them (and everyone else), or if there's actually something to the charges and incident.
Teams will take this info along with the rumors around the Gibbons case, and they might (and probably will) think twice about drafting him.
who said his stock just took a hit when the new came out which is false. Teams have already dinged him for it.
I'm not replying to you, just clarifying for others.
Agg assault is usually a felony. I'd need to know more, but . . . .
All three charges are misdemeanors according to the AA News. He has two charges of assualt and battery that are punishible by 93 days in jail or a fine up to $500. And he has one charge of aggravated assualt which can be punishable by 1 year in jail and/or a fine of $1,000.
With no priors, he probably won't get much in the way of punishment. He can afford a good lawyer now, so probably just a fine and some community service/anger management or something like that.
That would be much better. Usually when you say agg assault, it is because it involves a weapon or great bodily harm, and the penalty is much harsher. If, as you say, all three are misdemeanors, the future is much better for him.
FBI is looking into DG's role in Russian invasion of Crimea. Brady Hoke being investigated as the Yellow King. Jake Ryan reportedly connected to Gustavo Fring.
What can I say? The chicken brothers make good chicken.
Lol.
Confused on the laughter. Is this an "I told you so" matter?
Or is he just being a douche?
Is this regarding that whole Ohio State fan incident?
From the article:
The charges stem from a confrontation that took place about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 1 in the 1200 block of South University Avenue. The incident took place after Ohio State University defeated U-M, and two Buckeyes fans reported being assaulted.
Shouldn't the presumption of innocence rest with Taylor in this case? I mean Ohio fans, come on...
Just to pass it on, that night was at least the third time in a year a current UM student I know said he saw Lewan being a raging, drunken douche at the Ann Arbor bar scene. I had no reason not to believe him the other times, but this charge probably confirms his credibility.
Crashed our party at State & Hoover on a random Friday night, showed off his mustache tattoo, chugged as much of a handle as he could, and drove away.
I'm not sure I agree with my own statement - I've had plenty of fun after midnight. But in this case IT'S TRUE GODDAMN IT!
it is, the one where he said he was just breaking up a fight...
Lewan's not even on the podium. The main thing he allegedly did that I find offensive was to threaten the victim in the Gibbons situation. That was heinous and vastly diminished my respect for him. However, he also forewent going to the NFL to help stabilize a wobbly line, and did a few other good things.
But the worst captain ever? I submit Minoru Genda (you may know me for such things as planning the Pearl Harbor attack) for your consideration:
Genda was a Captain for the other side, and he did a hell of a job on us.
.....talk shit on you?
Ah yes, the "screw you guy who isn't here anymore" rationalization.
Another bad look for the program *smh*
Someone downvoted for passing on big news. Oy vey.
Comes with the territory. It always happens. No biggie.
and I downvoted you for talking about downvoting...
there is no crying in mgoblog!
jdon
at least four of you get it.

Ray Lewis killed a guy. Give him a break, NFL guys. Don't jump to conclusions before anything is litigated.
Don't forget that Craig James murdered 5 hookers.

Now that's he not with the team anymore, can we stop pretending he's ever been anything but a giant douchebag?
I mean, his teammates voted him a captain, so maybe he's got some redeeming qualities...
I don't really know what happened in this particular situation, and I don't like what he did to Isaiah Lewis's helmet earlier this year. But Jonas Mouton got suspended for throwing a punch, and I don't think Mouton is a DB.
It's more about how he's acted off the field
He must have something going for him if they voted that and the twosie and some other things he has done were funny but I was sick of his talking the talk and seemingly not leading by the end of the year. It will be a loss but I really have no feeling on him not being around anymore.
I'm much more disturbed by him possibly threatening a rape victim than getting into a drunken fight. Maybe it wasn't the poor black recruits from Florida that Boren complained about on his way out as many of us assumed...
Unfortunately douchebags off the field usually make good football players on the field.
*see Richie Incognito. The first thing that came out with the whole Dolphins fiasco is that most teammates of Incognito had his back.
