Dewey was from my home town. So close to having a president from Owosso.

Moderate:informative to you good sir. I never knew he was from the Flint area. Learn something new everyday.
December 5th, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
He also went to Michigan and wrote for the Daily.

This internet thing's a small place. I am also from the greater Owosso metropolitan area.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:24 PM ^
That's funny. Owosso being described as a "metropolitan area". Which hectare?
December 5th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
Well we do get a tiny yellow square on the map so it must be true.
December 5th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
North side, east of 52.

Though I tease her that Corunna has the Meijer and the nice courthouse. Heading up for pre-Christmas stuff, hoping for a trip to Sir Pizza (divy but good!)

Dutchtown!

I'm from Owosso as well. Quite a gang here. Nothing better than a Sir Pizza cube pepperoni. That is about the only thing I miss from Owosso. It battles my brain daily along with a Count of Antipasto slice. Sad day when that went away. Great pizza but so, so, so inefficient.
December 6th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
i've driven through Owosso, does that count?
December 5th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
You want good pizza, I'd recommend Main St. Pizza in Corunna. Just down from the Cavalier Bar.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:49 PM ^
Still odd that he ended up the governor of New York though.
December 5th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
i married a chick from owosso. one of the brazil sisters. the internet is so small.

I went to Brad's wedding so maybe we've met. His wife was my babysitter when I was a little one. I used to go to Roma's for a bacon pizza a lot when I was young. That was before Sir Pizza came in and I made the great discovery of pepperoni.

A college pal of mine married Bill Roberts, he was from a pretty big family in Owosso as I recall. Of course I'm about 75 years older than all of you.
Edited because it would help if I actually got his last name right.

...for the win. Went back to visit this past summer just after the Curwood Festival. A great place to be from.

Didn't those guys learn anything from the Big Ten basketball championship banner thing a couple years back?
December 5th, 2011 at 10:34 AM ^
Wow, that "fan" is some creepy stuff. Put that on a billboard.
December 5th, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
Put that on a billboard.
I want to bear your child. Some mornings just make me so proud of the MGoBlogosphere.

I wonder if a Michigan fan ran the ad - payback for all those personal fouls. Nah...we got our payback in sugar.
December 5th, 2011 at 10:37 AM ^
I'd be so peeved at the Detroit News for that. Obviously you get your ad ready to go before the outcome. You trust the paper isn't going to make you look like an idiot by running it when it shouldn't.
I can't laugh too hard at MSU because it could just as easily be us on the bad end of such a gaffe.
FACEPALM
December 5th, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
it is also running on the MSU to Outback story.
December 5th, 2011 at 10:59 AM ^
That is some serious FAIL... but I kind of love it.
December 5th, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
you deserve well more than a fake 5 points for that.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:09 PM ^
Excellent!
December 5th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
love it!
December 5th, 2011 at 11:30 AM ^
It can be deduced beyond a reasonable doubt that the travel agency that makes money off of MSU travel packages has at least a few MSU fans making decisions for them, like the decision to run this ad. They had to get their ad ready ahead of time, and they did. They ASSumed that their great and beloved Spartans were going to the Rose Bowl.
In other words, they did what Sparty always does: they severely overestimated their place on the food chain. This ad is merely another case of Sparty getting exactly what they deserve.

Work filter blocking... Really could use a good laugh from over here in the Czech...

December 5th, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
Dewey beat Truman too, right? (That was a Chicago paper, but I forgot which one.)
Edit: must have been in the first post... the picture doesn't display for me, for some reason.
December 5th, 2011 at 10:45 AM ^
msuspartans.com still has a "Buy MSU Big Ten Champs Gear" ad that pops up, too.
December 5th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
Sparty, No!
I love these guys. Enjoy the Alamo Bowl!
December 5th, 2011 at 11:26 AM ^
Outback Bowl actually

Florida grows oranges....California grows oranges so therefore they are almost the same state right?
December 5th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
i work in advertising. this is clearly the fault of the detroit news for running this.
December 5th, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
I look at advertising. This one is hilarious.

A Wolverine in the News ad department, perhaps?
