9 weeks 2 days ago	Coming from a former	Coming from a former journalist... it is unfortunate that the media tends to turn tragedy into 24/7 sensationalistic entertainment, but that has been the trend for years. It's one of the major reasons I left the business. My heart aches for everyone affected today. Such a horrible thing to go through, on a day that should have been about celebration, achievement and joy. Just sickening.

Even when I was in the throes of anxiety watching the game last night, I was cracking up at hilarious posts in the liveblog and feeling grateful that I have a place to go to indulge my obsessive fandom. Associated Press, I'm looking at you). Embarassing. It's times like this that make me glad I left the journalism business -- all too often now, it's about sensationalized stories rather than actual news.

I'm a Michigan alumna now living in Florida, and I've spent a lot of time volunteering with homeless children and low-income families in the Orlando area. I know there is much work to be done... but it's people like you and programs like this one that make a difference and change lives, one step at a time. Enjoy your visit to the Big House!
