unless you simply had a better educational opportunity. Chose West Point over Michigan...best decision I ever made. "= stupid"? Hardly. Doesn't mean I don't love UM any less; just had an opportunity of a lifetime for higher education AND future service. Passing on that would've been stupid.
I was brought up in a mid-Michigan household where Bo held demi-god status. Michigan will always be my team despite choosing the service academy route over Ann Arbor.
Granted the passing game wasn't great today, but I'm not convinced it was as bad as the numbers show. Also, I feel like Borges has a handful of slick plays in the bag still... Indications were that reverse bubble screen to Gallon and another inside slant (i think) where Denard feigned a run and then took a one step drop.
Don't think that Hoke wanted to necessarily torch SDSU for more either.
Just cracked the first bottle of two sixers brought back from my buddy's trip to the EMU game last weekend. It's better appreciated and savored when not readily available...
would be irrational and negligent for both SU and Pitt's administrators... Fact of the matter is the landscape IS different than when BC and VT left. It sucks, sure, but it is what it is. It's a business, to include building a national brand that attracts students and student-athletes. Staying in the Big East is a committment to mediocrity.
though a non-revenue generator, makes the ACC probably the best possible cultural fit for Syracuse if you look at athletic programs more broadly than football and basketball.
and while the point is moot, just because Rutgers is closer to NYC than Syracuse means little as well. Cuse draws as much if not more viewership in city.
against the Ivy's and other top research universities because the models are so different. Roughly 80% of the teaching faculty at USMA are active duty Army officers (senior Captains & Majors) who recently completed a Master's degree at a top-tier graduate program. The other 20% or so is comprised of civilian faculty and more senior military officers with PhDs. The mission is different though such that all faculty are focused entirely on the development of their cadets. So, whereas in a typical research university (where I work now), faculty are expected to allocate the their time according to research, teaching, and service (say, 40:40:20), at USMA, faculty - especially the mid-career instructors - are expected to devote a significantly greater amount of their time for office hours (I'm assuming it's similar at the other academies). An 8:1 student-faculty ratio doesn't hurt either... but hey, it's your tax dollars at work.

No question, this is yet another example of genuine leadership and more support (as if we need more evidence) that this current coaching staff is a great fit. For me though, this captures the dynamic/bond between the amateur athlete driven to improve and the coach who is completely invested in his development, and epitomizes the greatness of college football and college athletics in general. It's what makes it so awesome and pure. Definitely a major reason why my fall Saturdays are completely shot from noon+, while on Sundays I suffer from a general lack of interest.
Thanks for your service Mr. Dantonio and my condolences to the Dantonio family. Never easy. Lost my grandfather (also WWII vet) in 2006 within 6 hrs of returning home from a year combat tour in Iraq.
#1: 1995 Pigskin Classic vs. UVA... I was going into my senior year in high school sitting in the south end zone. Final play TD pass from Dreisback to Mercury Hayes for the win was ridiculous. Probably the best UM comeback I've seen in person and was the perfect motivation for our opening HS football game against Flint Powers.
#2. My first ever experience in the big house, 1988, #4 UM vs #1 U Miami, getting to the stadium early to watch the defense warm up with my father and uncle. Despite the total letdown in the 4th quarter, those first 10 minutes left an indelible impression as a lifelong Michigan fan.

Still odd that he ended up the governor of New York though.
to all those who serve and have served. Special thanks to my 10th Mountain Division brothers in arms.
So ridiculous...and shameful, really.

FWIW, SU Chancellor was a former UM Provost.
I remember watching him clean house against Flint Northern in an early round playoff game in hs. Man vs boys.
Who would've guessed... Arthur Hill alum like Sam Sword?

my hopes up for a Cuse + (ND, Rutgers, or Pitt) to B1G down the line, but sounds unlikely at this point.
Thanks for sharing that.

Can't help but not root for this guy. Looking forward to him to being a solid contributor this year.
