Someone asked for a thread about how gorgeous Gorgeous Al is; here you go.
(My goodness, that is a gorgeous human being.)
Discuss Al, baseball, Red Wings preseason hockey, fine beverages, or any other topic that doesn't belong elsewhere.
lager and my guiness it's a shame to the name.
Shoot I was hoping to try that. I'm gonna have to hope that you just hate black lagers. Have you ever had McSorley's?
You Should give the foreign extra stout a go.
I'm at work for another 2+ hours, so until I can get home, I'll have to rely on photos of Gorgeous Al Borges and Denard smiling to intoxicate me.
5:45 on the east coast and already doing work. I approve, just make sure you're prepared for tomorrows game.
Going down to State tonight for the CMU game tomorrow. We will see what my spartan friends have in store for the night
You're not going to hear me say this often....
Staying sober tonight. gonna go act like a drunk fool at professor thom's tomorrow.
Drunk from wine at CS department function. Good start to the night
I have a friend coming over tonight to celebrate his birthday this weekend. He'll be staying the night in our guest room so we can watch the game tomorrow morning. This good friend happens to be an SDSU alum, so the game should be interesting.
Does you friend know about the tremendous world of San Diego microbrews.
Yes, he was born and raised there and has told me all about it. We actually live just up the street from a Gordon Biersch, which we frequent, er, frequently.
This guy actually likes Michigan, he was accepted out of high school but his parents (who are Greek immigrants) wouldn't let him leave San Diego for school and he ended up at SDSU. Since then he's been a huge Michigan fan anyway.
Didn't realize it was a SoCal thing. I discovered it in Hawaii at a UH volleyball match. Those Wahine know how to do it up right! The restaurant is pretty nice too. Have you had the garlic fries? Hot damn I might have to visit there tonight (the one in greater Denver that is).
Yeah, GB is from San Diego. They have multiple GBs in both Dodger Stadium and Petco Park in SD. The garlic fries are the bomb diggity.
Wish I could spell but damn my wife loves these crazy drinks.
Oktoberfest in GR tonight so I will be drinking Erdinger and Hofbräu Oktoberfest all night. PROST!
on the Erdinger. Love that stuff.
Hate to one up you, but I just woke up after a night of drinking at the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Hit the Spaten and Hacker-Pschorr "tents". What an amaizing time. Anyone who likes bier and fun has to make the pilgrimage. One more trip down before I fly home Sunday morning. Go Blue From Germany!
I hate you. Haha...my family went last year and raved about it. It's on my bucket list!
Jameson and Sprite.
Sam Adams Oktoberfest followed by some Woodford Reserve later
Incidentally -- does Sam Adams make a bad beer? If they do, I haven't had it.
Ughh! And my number one beer in the world is Boston lager
I've seen that one in the various sampler packs I've purchased, but I'm not sure I have actually ever had one. As Tom Hanks said in Big, "I'll stay away from her, then."
and Cranberry Lambic is just awful....Can't wait for the winter pack with the Old Fiziwig Ale in it though!
White Birch Brewing Hop Session Ale. Pretty good amber, I am impressed.
McCallums single malt on the rocks. Keeping it classy this evening.
Mr Lahey is the liquor.
Green Flash IPA. Right now it is my favorite.
very topical for this weekend.
I kind of feel like a traitor ,so maybe when I get home I'll try not to drink a SD beer. For me it is so easy and convinient to buy these good SD microbrews. It is harder to find the Michigan microbrews around here. There is a bar in downtown SD that sometimes has the Jolly Pumpkin stuff on tap, but that is about it.
whisky and vernors, best drink there is
Tussin and grape Nehi, neat. A/k/a "the usual."
It takes the edge off of things, after a stressful day.
herradura and cointreau margaritas. but not yet, since it's only 3:20 on the west coast.
Is herradera? I have a rather large bottle of Cointreau in front of me and I'm trying to decide what to do with it
as for what to do with the cointreau, i would advise drinking it, but lemme know if you came up with a better solution.
Köstritzer down at the Brauhaus.
Anyone up for German fare (beer) in old Philadelphia is more than welcome to join me.
Just kidding, staying cheap and Canadian with Molson.
might watch the game. Probably get a bunch of drinks on the cheap.
Just cracked the first bottle of two sixers brought back from my buddy's trip to the EMU game last weekend. It's better appreciated and savored when not readily available...
Bought one if those Miller lite keg things that you keep in the fridge. $19.99 for it. Went home and did the math and it only holds 16 beers. I could have gotten a case for $18.99. Thats 8 less beers for a buck more!
I'm so stupid.
Btw, would rather drink much better beer, but have to go low card to avoid a diabetic coma.
Considering making a run over to Half-Acre to get a growler of Sticky Fat. If I'm too lazy it'll be DFH Punkin Ale and/or homebrew.
How is Punkin? I feel the need to try it because I love basically everything DFH makes, but it sounds...odd.
is pretty weird but delicious at the same time.
I like it- then again I like most DFH. If you can find it, I'd say pull the trigger and buy, you won't be disappointed.
It's the greatest fall brew hands down...had some on draft from their brew pub a while back...it's epic
It's definitely not spicy like a lot of other pumpkin ales. It's good, and even better when they mix it with 90 minute at the brewpub.
Pako's IPA from the Snake River Brewing Company. Gotta take it kind of easy for the 10 AM MT start tomorrow.
I think I need a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster. I wouldn't mind the feeling of having my brain smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick.
to start off with.
Water...and it's not even cold water.
Kind of pricey, but real good!
Brugal Extra Viejo
Double crown and sprite for now
Double crown and sprite for now
Only if he goes triple crown and sprite.
Hangar One vodka with melon aqua fresca! Muy delicioso!
more to come tonight and tomorrow.
Some of Michigan's best, in Columbus, Ohio
Tullemore Dew (Irish Whiskey) and Vernors, with a drop of vanilla.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Voila, you have an Irish Cooler ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had that on the train going through the Southwest....Good stuff.
my first Liney Oktoberfest today. Not bad, I think I will drink more.
to get a 2nd opinion.
If anybody is interested, the Red Wings official site is streaming the preseason game with the Flyers. I'm hockey starved so I'm checking it out. Excited to see some of the guys play (mainly Emmerton. wanna see how he does fighting for a roster spot)
Just rum and coke on my way to Abu Dhabi...
My favorite beer is from Alpine Beer Co.. in Alpine, CA--20 minutes east of SDSU campus. The best IPA's I've ever had. As good as Pliney the Elder (imo).
side note..Ryan Lindlay's hometown is Alpine...a mountain town, and he looks like a mountain man. I will burry some mountain town brew..M needs to burry some mountain town QB.
jagermeister straight out of the bottle
jagermeister straight out of the bottle
Oberon..one last time before it is gone until next summer.
It's always a sad time of year
jagermeister straight out of the bottle
A sandwich double post, I like it.
EDIT: Triple post, the jager's doing some work.
Highland Park or Crown.
I have a sixer of Narragansett Tall Boys, but I have no intention to finish them all. Watching the Bruins preseason game with the Sox game postponed. Probably switch to the UCF-BYU game soon.
Watching the UCF/BYU game and have my glass of Dimple Pinch, 15yo blended Scotch, nice way to try to make up for a sh*t week...
In Ann Arbor from Nashville with a buddy for the game tomorrow, followed by JV going for 25 @ CoPa. Anyone recommend some bars to check out? We're not alumni, just lifelong fans and former Michiganders transplanted in TN. Checked out campus for the 1st time this afternoon, gorgeous.
Any help would be appreciated guys..or a link to an archived threat with some hot spots. Sports on tv are a plus.
I knew it was possible. I've seen Denard.
"The neutrino reported that upon surpassing the speed of light, he was greeted by Denard Robinson, who laughed and said, 'man, what you can do this, too? That's CRAZY, man.' Robinson then smiled and sped off"
Just got back from No Thai. I know its not authentic in the least, but its just so good. Also, washed it town with a green turtle from Bubble Island.
Drinking some water, Red Wings suck, I'm actually going hiking in the Colorado mountains during the game tomorrow.
Drinking some Sam Adams Octoberfest and about to watch season premier of Ghost Adventures!!!!!
Had to redo the wallpaper on my blog. I mispelled Mississagi...Damn Canadians...
I'm pretty sure I've seen the Lee A Tregurtha going through the locks up in Sault St Marie.
The Lee Tregurtha has a pretty interesting history. She used to be an ocean going ship during World War II. Was sold and converted to the lake freighter style (pilot house in front, deckhouse in back). If you look at one of the closeup pictures, you will see her war ribbons.
Homebrew for now w/ a New Holland Ichabod to follow
A combination of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA and Bell's Two Hearted
New standard "always have it in the 'fridge" beer. A few more likely to follow.
Had a few coors lights with my girl...then some Rumpelmints straight. Every single time someone asked 'what are we "cheersing" for', I said towards a maize and blue victory.
Is it Saturday afternoon yet?
I make my girlfriend cheers me to Denard just about every time we cheers between September and January. Good times, but for some reason she thinks it gets old?
Raising my glass of Boddingtons to Gorgeous Borges, no, wait, roommate just walked in with two cases of high life. GO BLUE
Update: I have things to do tomorrow and can't be hungover. So I stopped drinking an hour ago and smoked a bob marley sized joint. Now I'm watching season 3 of the simpsons and eating pizza. Honestly, life doesn't get much better than this.
Not that 1 and 2 didn't have their moments -- they most certainly did -- but Seasons 3-6 were truly the "sweet spot" of the run.
Drinking Noble Chaos from Shorts Brewery
Vodka and kool aid also drinking everclear and mountain dew code red.
Trying to decide how best to kill the remaining 13 hours. Opera's on the TV.
Watching the end of the UCF BYU game, it almost seems like UCF gets off on losing in the worst way possible.
It'll change your life, I swear.
F*****g weiser. Today was a good day. Lookin forward to tomorrow!! GoBlue!!
I am settling in with some Dewars aberfeldy 12 year scotch whiskey. Absolutely delicious
Started with a combo of vodka, soco, tequila and coke, now on a fat bastard shiraz, and next a white wine, gotta pick between a couple. Can't drink before or during the game tomorrow, so gotta make up for it tonight and tomorrow night.
A case of Breakfast Stout tonight for $40
And a little ciroc vodka... Ciroc to get me going and the dead guy to cruise through the night
Edit: Anyone else tracking the falling satellite tonight? Should be visible in about 20-30 minutes in North America.
watching the CFL, getting trippy like I'm Juicy J and loving life, drinking R&R whiskey straight from the bottle
What a beverage.
Harpoon Leviathan Quad. Three or four of these and you're really finished.
Still amazed by the $14.99 30-packs of Bud Light we bought during ND weekend in AA. Back in Canada where 24-packs are $48.
