They beat us by 3, how did they kick our asses again? I know we should never have lost to them but they did not kick our asses. We had 452 total yards to their 449. We won the time of possession, had more first downs, better third down conversion and the same fourth down conversion rate. The one stat we lost was we had more penalty yards against us but that was because we couldn't touch their receivers and the announcers even called that out. Again, how did they kick our asses?

They did, and I said they did, but they did not kick our asses. The reason why people hate that loss so much is because of the ludicrous point spread that was put out. Neither team was good this year. They finished 2-5 and we were 2-4. The score difference is exactly what it prob should have been, unfortunately we were on the wrong side of it.

I can respect you planting the flag and all but that was the single worst experience I've ever had watching Michigan football. Worse than the OSU blowouts. At least the Buckeyes had real talent. State was bereft of talent. And they beat us! With somebody named Rocky Lombardi, an average MAC level quarterback, looking like Tom fucking Brady. Disgraceful.

Now that I have that out of my system, Tom Izzo seems like he has lost his team. Or lost his recruiting eye. And Juwan has the number one recruiting class coming in. The sun is setting on Tom Izzo and rising on Juwan Howard. A silver lining indeed.

Lord my man, don't do this, lol.  Talk about planting a flag...this is exactly what we all thought was coming this year for Sparty on the gridiron. The sun had set on Mork and they hired a subpar coach. We all know how that ended, which has sparked this whole portion of the conversation. I dont think there is an entire athletic dept out there that drums up the disrespect better than MSU...Izzo will use this and channel it like Mork and their new coach ( can't remember his name) did.

Well we were favored to win the game by ~23 points. So, you could consider their victory a ~26 point swing.

But yeah, MSU “kicking our asses” is a bit of a stretch perpetuated by the doomiest and gloomiest subsection of fans. At the end of the day, it was one shitty football team beating another shitty football team.

You're right - they didn't kick Michigan's ass.  They won with dignity.  We have the moral victory, though, because even though they scored more points, we tried hard!  (Oh, wait, no, we really didn't...)  Doesn't matter that we were ranked, favored, and just plain have 5x the recruited talent and much better paid and experienced staff, and were at home, we kept it close while scoring fewer points!  YAY - no ass kicking here, nothing else to see, move along!!!

Kindly insert your moral victory into your sunshine hole.  That was the worst defeat I've ever seen as a Michigan fan (been one since ~1970-71, whenever those first memory flashes occurred).  I've never seen any other single loss so completely demoralize either the team or the entire fanbase that much.  In that one game, probably 90% of the fanbase turned on Harbaugh.

But hey, they didn't kick our ass!  It was only a 3 point loss!!  YAY FOR US!!!!

lol at you trying to polish that turd. We were 20+ point favorites and ranked #13 in the country playing at home and MSU had just lost to Rutgers at home by 11.

You can point to ONLY losing by 3 if that makes you feel better and you want to be some hero on a message board. I on the other hand look at it as losing by 100 to a fucking horrid rival, because that's how it feels to me.

In all fairness, we were doing a helluva lot more than touching their receivers.  We were molesting them.  A true freshman was toying with our secondary.  That's where the game was lost.  Good thing we signed 1 corner though in this recruiting class, because our secondary will struggle mightily again next year.

Is it me, or did neither team play particularly well in this game? Minnesota was helped by the fact that Sparty didn't even bother to get off the bus, but I feel like the Gophers' ball movement and shot selection was pretty haphazard. Neither team looked good, but Sparty looked like ass whereas Minnesota looked mediocre.

It was glorious. I don’t think MSU is a very good team this year, but they looked especially bad tonight. MSU played 12 guys in the first half so it was a total team effort.
